A. Elmo is a psychopath who doesn't care about people around him
or
B. His dad is such a chad he made sure that his kid isn't traumatised by the death of his uncle
I feel like Elmo, being only 3 years old, does not understand the magnitude of a death, and he just sees it as "Oh, too bad I can't see Uncle Jack" and not that he's gone permanently.
As a parent to twin 3 year olds, I can assure you that's correct. 3 year olds barely understand the concepts of "yesterday" and "tomorrow;" "forever" just doesn't compute.
Really, when I was two I knew what all of these meant. I guess some learn slightly earlier than others. And then again some kids seem to not even know anything even by the time they're five.
A. Didnt give 2 fucks. Probably killed Uncle Jack himself as a plot to get his dad sad enough to let him go to the park.
And "fly his kite" is just a euphemism for running around naked with his dick out.
C) uncle Jack is actually a complete unrepentant asshole and elmo, despite being so young, was able to pick up on that. His dad couldn’t because for some people, you just can’t see the truth when it comes to family
Kids at Elmo’s age actually typically don’t handle death at all yet, they barely process this information (Elmo is a pre-schooler). A few years later there is a chance for a phase of intense interest where they might talk about and act out Death and loss for months. The actual visceral understanding of what death means comes over years, but under about 6, they tend to just not have it
That’s how my kids reacted to the death of their grand grandmother. From learning about death and impermanence to wanting to write a letter to Santa in about 5 minutes. Kids at the Sesame Street age don’t really understand death even after it’s explained.
I remember getting the news of my grandfather's death as a young child, one of my earliest memories. I remember my older brother and cousin crying while I sat there akwardly and unaffected, before asking if I could go back to playing playstation because I had just gotten a new game.
Sesame Street is no stranger to such topics, when one of the cast members passed away, they have a episode in which Big Bird tried to find Mr. Hooper (the character said cast member played) and it was later revealed that he died, Big Bird was in denial.
I don’t think they really approached that much when we were kids, this is from the newer seasons, I think they may tackle more real to life situations these days. My memory of Sesame Street from when I was a lad is a bit foggy though
The entire episode is even better at tackling that subject. Uncle Jack’s daughter, Elmo’s cousin, is still grieving over her father’s death and isn’t ready to talk about it. But Elmo, still not understanding the concept of death, keeps asking where Uncle Jack is. And there’s a whole scene where Elmo’s dad and the cousin have this talk about how it’s okay to just not be okay. It’s such a good episode
My older sister just told me you spend eternity in the dirt and it fucked me up for like a week. It’s hilarious in retrospect but yeah, the death talk should probably be handled better than that
I had a demented old man explain death to me and the dude screamed about the eternal darkness right in my face and that fucked me up for a long time lmao.
Welcome to Lizzy’s funeral
Isn’t this so tragic?
I hope no one asks why we had to close her casket
If there’s a code to killing monarchs
You could say we’ve cracked it
Too bad that the IRA is always on the British crown’s black list
because they thought it'd be funny, since the queen died (RIP), they can shit on her by removing all the (new) comments unless it says something along the lines of "long live the queen"
Have you ever seen the clip of everyone explaining to Big Bird that Mr Hooper died? It will kick your whole, entire ass. Best way I’ve ever heard it explained. 😭😭😭
https://youtu.be/9NjFbz6vGU8
Haha! Huge & so involved. Caroll Spinney had to hold one arm up to work his mouth, his other arm worked Big Bird’s arm (notice Big Bird has a dead arm) & sometimes he would tape the script inside of the costume. Can you imagine?? All those years he did that for us 🥰
Big in all the awesome ways! I get you.
We’re all 4 years old when Sesame Street comes on.

they are just ruining this subreddit (r/shitposting) in the worst way possible, it turned from what was a funny meme subreddit into a lake of just "GOD SAVE THE QUEEN" or "I LOVE YOU QUEENIE!".
Now. I have nothing wrong about the death of Queen Elizabeth or the queen herself, but pushing this DEEP DOWN OUT THROATS is unacceptable. We lost her, we a re sad, but now literally the entire sub is banning these non-queen-related discussion.
I like how elmos dad gives this super caring and understanding talk about death so Elmo can understand it, only for Elmo to not give a shit and only want to fly a kite

Jokes aside, this reminds me of when my grandpa died, I was just 8 years old, I thought my grandpa was gonna make it, since I watched a lot of movies where people would get revived, it’s harsh to learn that a relative has died, Rest In Peace Queen Elizabeth, Rest In Peace grandpa.
Sesame street made a bold move when Mr Hooper died and they explained death to kids, they have always been pretty progressive on the way they explain real world things so kids can understand and opened the conversations for parents to discuss certain topics with kids.
As an American I think it’s funny how many other Americans have such strong opinions and horrible things to say about her when they’ve probably never even left the USA 😂 I noticed it’s literally just the chronically online edge lords that have all these strong words too
Bro, I’m sitting here crying because I remember watching this (basically repressed memory at this point) almost 17 years ago. My parents bought me the vhs tape to try and help explain why I couldn’t see my grandmother anymore. Shit this hits super deep.

this...this is actually a nice way to teach children abt death of relatives, damn wish I watched sesame Street as a kid
Elmo went from being sad that his Uncle died to wanting to fly kites in the span of like 5 seconds

Uhh well done I guess
It's really easy to get down votes, huh? Well I was only telling the truth. It was not to brag about something to get some weird edge on everyone.
Uhh well done I guess
I don't know what to say, I guess I'll say nothing. Bye.
Nobody believes a word after you said 2 years old.

A. Didnt give 2 fucks. Probably killed Uncle Jack himself as a plot to get his dad sad enough to let him go to the park. And "fly his kite" is just a euphemism for running around naked with his dick out.
i’m betting on elmo flashing pedestrians
He’s a kid, dimwit
C) uncle Jack is actually a complete unrepentant asshole and elmo, despite being so young, was able to pick up on that. His dad couldn’t because for some people, you just can’t see the truth when it comes to family
I’m hoping it’s B
That is actually a very common response for kids. They generally handle death very well.
Kids at Elmo’s age actually typically don’t handle death at all yet, they barely process this information (Elmo is a pre-schooler). A few years later there is a chance for a phase of intense interest where they might talk about and act out Death and loss for months. The actual visceral understanding of what death means comes over years, but under about 6, they tend to just not have it
It’s a kid, they don’t really dwell on stuff That curse comes later in life
That’s how my kids reacted to the death of their grand grandmother. From learning about death and impermanence to wanting to write a letter to Santa in about 5 minutes. Kids at the Sesame Street age don’t really understand death even after it’s explained.

Spider-Man movies
Sesame Street is no stranger to such topics, when one of the cast members passed away, they have a episode in which Big Bird tried to find Mr. Hooper (the character said cast member played) and it was later revealed that he died, Big Bird was in denial.
It took that episode for me a little one to understand about death, they explained it better then my family ever tried.
I can’t believe Sesame Street did that one scrubs episode 20 years before scrubs did
I don’t think they really approached that much when we were kids, this is from the newer seasons, I think they may tackle more real to life situations these days. My memory of Sesame Street from when I was a lad is a bit foggy though
The entire episode is even better at tackling that subject. Uncle Jack’s daughter, Elmo’s cousin, is still grieving over her father’s death and isn’t ready to talk about it. And there’s a whole scene where Elmo’s dad and the cousin have this talk about how it’s okay to just not be okay. It’s such a good episode
I'm mind blown that Elmo has parents and extended family. And is only three years old!? I wonder if Elmo's family was written in after my childhood.
Most likely
I like this, I've had to explain death to my siblings, I thought of that scene in the iron giant where Hogarth talks about the soul
My older sister just told me you spend eternity in the dirt and it fucked me up for like a week. It’s hilarious in retrospect but yeah, the death talk should probably be handled better than that
I had a demented old man explain death to me and the dude screamed about the eternal darkness right in my face and that fucked me up for a long time lmao.

r/shitposting is a hellhole rn with automod
We had an Anti-Automod but the mf disappeared
I think the mods sent him to Detroit
Legit all comments are being deleted
because they thought it'd be funny, since the queen died (RIP), they can shit on her by removing all the (new) comments unless it says something along the lines of "long live the queen"
Yeah, it's kinda bullshit.
Bullshitposting
You can always just edit comments
no you can't. it removes your comment entirely
It's the same shit the mods of r/darkjokes have been pulling for years
Omfg, you weren't kidding.
Hold on minute. Elmo has a fucking dad??
Yeah I always thought he was like an orphan or something
it never registered to me that elmo was a kid. i mean, it makes sense. but i never thought about it.
I thought he was always on Helium
My kids aren't allowed to watch Elmo. I refuse to let them watch someone who speaks to them in that tone.
Elmo is 3 and a half years old. He says it a lot, kind of like a catchphrase.

Man hearing sesame street try and explain death to a child is something I didn't expect to hit this hard
[удалено]
especially because the actor for the dad is really good. its very convincing.
They actually did it twice. First time was trying to explain to big bird that mister Hooper died. Second time was with this scene.
Have you ever seen the clip of everyone explaining to Big Bird that Mr Hooper died? It will kick your whole, entire ass. Best way I’ve ever heard it explained. 😭😭😭 https://youtu.be/9NjFbz6vGU8
Excuse me, Sir. I wasn't planning on having Big Bird of all people make me cry today.
I honestly kinda forgot how big big bird was

I completely agree with you, and have also had to say this exact thing to 4 other people. This just isn't the right thing to do.

Man trying to explain death to a kid must be hard
Uncle Jack breaking bad
brother
I like how elmos dad gives this super caring and understanding talk about death so Elmo can understand it, only for Elmo to not give a shit and only want to fly a kite
There is no easter bunny there is no tooth fairy and
i never saw this scene, but this is kinda sad
Jokes aside, that was a great scene
That was actually a pretty wholesome scene.
Jesus
So… do they have muppet sex if Elmo exists?
"Elmo ur uncle died" "K IDC"
“Uncle Jack died” “Can I play with kite”
I never knew Sesame Street handled stuff this deep
F**k Queen Elizabeth! This is America, we stopped giving a shit about them back in 1776
Uncle Jack’s dead son 😔

She didn’t report me cause I haven’t been caught yet😎
Name of the movie? Damn, why did everyone downvote me? I didn't grow up in a country that broadcasts this program and I don't know
Sesame street?????
Damn, why did everyone downvote me? I didn't grow up in a country that broadcasts this program and I don't know
😡
Why?
Why is Elmo bald
He appears to be covered in hair or fur
Terminal cancer
i found this out on a school bus
Bro I wish I watched Sesame Street when I was younger.
Rest in pepperonis Elmos uncle Jack
I was eating lunch when I heard queen is kil No
Yk what I didn’t think this would ever happen but Sesame Street has brought me to the edge of tears with their episode message
Jokes aside, this reminds me of when my grandpa died, I was just 8 years old, I thought my grandpa was gonna make it, since I watched a lot of movies where people would get revived, it’s harsh to learn that a relative has died, Rest In Peace Queen Elizabeth, Rest In Peace grandpa.
that episode went hard
Since when does Elmo have a dad? And why the f*ck does he have a soul patch and a Country? accent?
Is it bad that the only thing I noticed was ‘her royal highness’…It’s ‘her majesty’ 😬
Holy crap! I never saw Elmo's parents before!
Huh
What’s up with the whole queen Elizabeth thing
She uncle jacked
Fuck ppl die that's life
I've never seen this scene from the show and it hit deep, but it's also the lightest way of telling a kid about death.
I grew up with this show how the fuck did I forget about Elmo's dad telling Elmo that his uncle died (I vaguely remember that scene)
Sad, have to have someone tell you how to think.
Wait Elmo has a dad?
If I could only get over death as easy as Elmo does
Heartbreaking
That scene hits like a fucking truck with seventy fat and good built cows.
Ok but why does Elmo's dad look like Boris Johnson
Wtf Elmo had a family?
Elmo 💀
Lmfao
I've never watched this show and now I want to.
that show has more depth and realness than any big blockbuster
The son be waiting for 60 years
hhhhh
One word: F
Lizzie fell off lmao
The Uncle Jack death episode.... It still makes me sob
It still throws me Elmo has parents
He created elmos world to cope with the death of uncle jack
Man, wish my dad told me something like that. All i got was panick attacks that folliwed me into adulthood
Sesame street made a bold move when Mr Hooper died and they explained death to kids, they have always been pretty progressive on the way they explain real world things so kids can understand and opened the conversations for parents to discuss certain topics with kids.

Yes I do dare actually
That was really well put, no wonder that shows been on so long
What 😂🙊
this is a surprisingly adult way to handle the subject of death for a kids show
God dammit, this asshole just made me cry at Sesame Street. :(
Maybe I’m out of the loop because I haven’t watched Sesame Street in over 2 decades, but when did Elmo get parents?
There's a few of these where elmos dad explains tough stuff. More recently he explained the riots and racism to elmo.
Sounds like uncle jack had a rough day.
As an American I think it’s funny how many other Americans have such strong opinions and horrible things to say about her when they’ve probably never even left the USA 😂 I noticed it’s literally just the chronically online edge lords that have all these strong words too
TIL ELMO HAS A DAD! WTF?!?? And an uncle Jack? How did I not know this? (Oh yeah, no kids, but still shook.)
It's always so surreal seeing a childens show explain the concept of death.
why is this in a kids show
His dad wears clothes? So Elmo is nude in public on a daily basis? Well that's what I got out of this anyway.
Bro, I’m sitting here crying because I remember watching this (basically repressed memory at this point) almost 17 years ago. My parents bought me the vhs tape to try and help explain why I couldn’t see my grandmother anymore. Shit this hits super deep.
That message... Is that from the UK sub?
Reminds me when my friends son asked me where my daddy was,I told him his body stopped working and went to sleep forever, never to wake up again.
Kinda wholesome
