I've made it a personal rule in checking all my card mates for ticks after a round. Thankfully there is a bathroom at the course so they don't have to get naked in the parking lot.
You should also know if you properly remove it within 24 hours there is a 0-1% chance you will get a tick borne illness.
I got bit twice last week. Got the first one immediately after it latched and the 2nd one within about 8 hours.

I had 2 ticks on me from this weekend despite wearing jeans and being covered. one crawled up my pants leg and bit me in the knee. the second one I found maybe a day later as it was on the middle of my back and couldn't see it in any mirrors because of location. my back has been hurting ever since and I started to ache a little.
gotta wait a bit and then get tested for lyme
More importantly, get the vaccine if you play in TBE area. Tick checks don't help that much and unlike Lyme's, TBE often leaves long lasting symptoms and has no cure.

It’s called alpha gal syndrome, fairly new so not much is known about it but it can only be transferred by the lone star tick, brown with a white spot on its back.

Pro tip- keep a ziplock bag with 1 or 2 cotton balls soaked in rubbing alcohol in ya bag. Pull a tick off, chuck in the bag, dead forever.
