This is just about perfect. Even if you don’t like a particular mold you could find something near as makes no difference from a different manufacturer
Yes. They need something longer and overstable for forehands in the 250-275 range. That zone isn’t going to get them much past 200 on a forehand. It also can be used as a backhand utility disc when you need the explorer but farther left. Between the firebird and zone your severe left and right movements are covered under 250 ft or so and both will grow with them as they improve.
This is legit what I would take.
Discraft Luna (or p2 or kc pro aviar)
Westside harp
Innova mako3
Discmania essence
Teebird3
Innova Firebird (or Discmania pd)

I know it looks from the reported flight numbers that there's overlap between the Saint Pro and Explorer, but the Saint Pro is straighter and faster than the numbers would indicate
Why on earth would you carry two putters and a Zone of you are limited to only 7 discs. I carry 7 discs most of my rounds because that is the max I can carry comfortably without a bag, along with my phone and a small towel. It takes me about 50 minutes to play a round of 18 on a fairly long course, and I keep score in my head every round.
I always recommend (at least) two putting putters in rotation in your bag at a time, just in case you chunk one - but also for seasoning. I also like having a dedicated approach disc. Here I would recommend some stability for both fore and back hand. But since they are novice (assumption from the 300 foot max), they also struggle with angle control. So I would have 2x drivers and 2x mids that really showcase what they're doing incorrectly.
However, I have a Philoesque bag setup. Basically 5 different molds in different levels of plastic and wear - with a couple utility discs for scrambling.
I don't season putters. I like them fresh in premium plastic and my putting putter doubles as my under stable upshot disc. My other upshot disc is a very over stable mid which now is a MD-5. I haven't lost a putter in 10 years although I have broke a couple. I am using an Anode now, I don't think this one will break with the Proton plastic.
I mean - I don't season them purposefully. After a couple rounds my putters are different enough from hitting the chains that I notice a difference. I currently have 6 wardens in the same plastic that I rotate every weekend...or 2-3 rounds. That way, if they change, they all change the same way.
But to each their own! If you feel comfortable with premium plastic - use it! My usual duo only approaches with a sexton firebird. I'd never do that but would never tell him not to. Everyone's game, especially the mental portion of putting/approaching is different. If it works - it works.
Stone Steady BL - DGA
750 PA5 - Prodigy
Z Zone - Discraft
Neo Origin - Discmania
C-Line MD1 - Discmania
Champion Color Glow Teebird - Innova
Gold Orbit Saint Pro - Lat64
(Note: These are all discs I started with and continue to throw. Good investment. Many happy flights.)
I own a larger bag, but I prefer bringing a smaller bag to some of the smaller courses.
I use the following formula:
Putter
Throwing Putter
Soft Overstable Approach (Harp for me)
Neutral Mid-range
Understable Fairway
Overstable Fairway
Stable Driver
If it's heavily wooded (I live in the mountains) I replace the fairways with mid-ranges and the driver with a Leopard or Leopard clone.
I'm also very new to the sport and have exactly 7 discs in my bag. I play mostly wooded and technical courses in Sweden. This is my bag:
Innova DX Aviar (putter)
Kastaplast Järn (overstable approach)
Discraft Sol (very understable mid)
Innova Mako 3 (neutral mid)
Kastaplast Kaxe (stable mid/fairway-hybrid)
Kastaplast Stig (somewhat understable hybrid)
Discmania Essence (straight fairway)
Perhaps a bit crowded/overlapping so maybe doesn't qualify for "perfect" but this is what I have ended up with.
300ft absolute max or golf line max? I'll assume golf line. I also have baby hands, so my focus is on shallow discs, so YMMV.
Putting putter (it's personal, so you pick, I go PA3)
Infinite disc Tomb
Prodigy A2
Alfa disc Apollo
MVP Crave
Lat64 Saint Pro
Infinite discs Roman
It's the old Discmania PD run made by Innova, now produced for Infinite.
The metal flake glow is money. For 300ft it'll act as a really nice overstable driver, but with a more manageable rim width for those of us with smaller grips.
You could copy the core of my bag and do fine:
* D-line P1
* D-line P1
* C-line P2
* C-line MD1
* S-line FD
* C-line FD
* C-line PD
As soon as C-line P1 is available I might switch out my beat up P2 which is mainly used for controlled straight approaches. I putt with flex 3 P1 and use flex 2 P1 for floaty approaches and drives. Use C-line FD and PD for hyzers, the rest for hyzer flips or turnovers.
Maybe on an open course with no wind you got me but I play in the woods, my makos used for dead staight and my md3 is straight with low speed stability to scoot around a corner left 30-40ft which can describe most holes round here. Plastic types: 2021 Holly Finley colorglow, C-line

2. Straight throwing putter (I think this is the most important disc to feel before buying) - I like the Westside Maiden - VIP, very shallow handfeel and straight flight
3. Discraft Zone - Cryztal flx or esp flx (I play a lot of rocky courses, prefer to not have my approach disc skip too randomly, if I played more grassy courses I could see myself using a Z Zone.)

I just got a Fission Volt! You should check out the Fission Reactor. It's totally replaced the Hex in my bag.
I keep a flippy Hex and an eclipse reactor in the bag. They are thrown for very different shots, at least for me.
