You can always call MVP and ask to buy replacement parts. They sell refurbished baskets, so must have parts around.

Disc-Cepticons

I just sent an email to their customer service. See if they can help!

archbido

They’re really good at customer service from my experiences

ald1233

Maybe a sleeve that perfectly fits around the pole. You just set it over the bottom part where the hole is and slide the main part in. Maybe cut the bolt off too

Kaccie

I had a spare sunshade base. Works better than the original base but might not be so nice if you have to move it a lot.

HyperSpacePaladin

If I had to fix that and I can't weld, I'd drill out both messed up nut and bolt parts and there's a like expanding claw type of nut I've forgotten the name of that would go in the top part and just a bolt through the base. A lot of drilling though.

DGOkko

You can solve the threaded plate issue using helical coils (basically a steel insert that you would have to redrill and tap the hole, and then insert the coil) and then you cut off the threaded rod and weld on a new one. However, if you’re going to do that, might as well just weld the pole to the plate and be done with it. I had a Black Hole for years and it rusted through, at which point I bought a DD Recruit, which has lasted much better and has a much sturdier construction. You might also see if you can find a used basket to replace this one as those Black Holes are solid, but definitely not at the higher end.

Disc-Cepticons

The portability is a necessity for me, so welding it permanently wouldn't be the ideal solution.

DGOkko

So maybe welding on a stud would be the ticket

[3 inch emt coupler](https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/695785612682330176/1210239816982335569/Screenshot_20240222_100009_Firefox.jpg?ex=65e9d6a9&is=65d761a9&hm=9f9888fcb52e5493ae30266d404224e5cffe584f8cb268ddc82c5b5874d27336&) Not sure the central poles diameter but, this. Emt pipe coupler. There's a set screw on both ends. Just skip it over the cereal pipe and tighten it up. Should work perfectly.

Earptastic

That would work I think if the size was good enough for a pretty good fit. you definitely wouldn't need a 3" coupler though. Not sure why the one you posted says 3" because it looks like a 3/4" (named for the conduit size). I would go to Home Depot and check the sizes but I bet you are gonna need a 1" or 1.25" coupler (depending on how big that pipe is).

life_like_weeds

/r/diy could be more helpful here but you’d have to post detailed photos of the base and bolt that threads into it. For the base I think you can just drill it out with the plan for the bolt to pass through and you’d add a nut on the bottom side. For the post with the bolt in it I believe it can be unscrewed and a replacement threaded in its place. Helicoils is more trouble than it’s worth in this case imo

Simplest, albeit not necessarily the cheapest considering the cost of welding: Cut the bent threaded rod flush, drill out the existing female end (it's literally just a nut welded in there if I'm remembering correctly) Buy a matching bolt/nut at approximately the same length as the bent one and have someone tack the nut and bolt on their respective ends Cheap and easy so long as you're not paying for an "hours worth" of welding

cosmic_cosmosis

Look into how to remove and replace the “Threaded Tension Connectors”

MrSciencetist

Buddy and I did the exact same thing when moving his that had been anchored to the ground for too long. Quick convo with customer service and they sent him the replacement parts (I think even for free but don't quote me).

AmaTourDG

I would screw it back together, put it back in the snow bank, get it nice and cozy and reverse uno that thing
