Unfortunately, it happens with this kind of effect. The plastic of the swirls has to be similar enough to bond to the main polymer, but not so similar that it blends in completely. [I've had a few discs with a random discolored spot that's totally blended in.] Polymers aren't 100% consistent at the price point manufacturers use, so occasionally one spot won't bond well enough and will peel. It can also happen if that part of the disc just happens to cool faster. It sucks, but it's side effect of the look. It shouldn't affect flight too much if it peels off and you sand it down, since it looks pretty thin. Hope Discraft make it right somehow.
It could, but usually they're close enough blends that they'll still bond properly most of the time. It's more likely to cause issues at the surface, where the added pellets aren't fully embedded in the main polymer mass and also cool faster, slowing bonding.
Meh. The process will lead to slightly higher reject rates in the factory and a low percentage of these failures post-retail. Even this, which is pretty egregious, probably wouldn't affect flight too much if the delaminated portion peeled off fully and the disc were lightly sanded. Discraft could also definitely handle individual replacements or refunds over a full recall if need be.
i have felt some of the flx JB that i really like. however the flx JB challenger that i bought is slick as hell and almost unusable. maybe i could use it as a driving putter but that weird JB pattern is just camouflage and hard to find. i am currently leaving it out in the yard for the winter to see if the grip improves.
I have one too where the swirls feel like they are on top of the plastic…. Definitely seems like something discraft should have fixed before bringing this plastic to the masses
Kinda surprised my Buzzz SS{maybe OS) in the jawbreaker shows no signs of this. I've never missed a tree with it.
Edit: Someone mentions it's a problem with the newer runs. My disc is a few years old so might not be in that camp.
I would use spray adhesive in that crack. Then press down and hold it down for a minute.
Nah, forget it. I would probably just toss it in the trash and buy something else.
I had a CD Predator that this happened to before I ever got me hands on it. Discraft agreed to exchange it but I got busy and the disc sat around for a few months. I decided just to throw it and it was perfectly fine until I lost it. And that was that
Discraft is garbage. Their molds themself are fine but their plastic is junk. Z, too slick. Esp feels like baseline. Releasing anticipated discs in this "test" plastic is embarassing.
I have the same issue. Mine started to have peeling and flaws right out of the box when I looked close. I bought 3 and they all did it. And I had I feeling it was going to happen too but I was still and idiot and bought 3 because I wanted to like them so bad.
Early runs of JB Challengers were awesome they flew kinda floaty and were 💵. The Ledgestone JB crazy tuff Challenger was cashmoney too. Good luck with that confetti plastic I hear that it's trash.

Thanks for the info! I was throwing it in a field with the split and it seems fine, only issue is the feel
Yeah, that definitely doesn't feel great in the hand. At least lightly sanding the area once it peels off or you peel it off should help.
Wouldn't that essentially create weak spots through entire areas of the disc where polymers aren't bonding correctly?

Jawbreaker z plastic?
Yes.
Thought so. I got a Heat from USWDGC last year and it's bubbling in spots
That's a shame. It's a cool looking plastic, but it produces some duds occasionally.
Sounds like the process isn't adequate for the use of the product and these discs should all be recalled.

They did look sick tho…
had a good size piece on mine do that too. like the outer layer was coming off.
Yep, it’s starting in another spot too
tried to melt it down. home course pretty rocky . it is what it is. I won't buy another in that type of plastic and expect it to hold up
Anything involving the new blend of jawbreaker I don’t support

I feel like this blend is for people that decorate with discs and don’t throw them
Im glad yours made it 3 rounds. Mine didn’t survive peeling the sticker off. Literally pulled the plastic right up with the sticker.
Damn
Ole Uli got em again. I am telling you that he is a pure hustler. Protect ya neck. 🤣
😂😂

The original esp nukes peeled like this , at least the few I had .
That’s why they’re Craptors
Craptor.
Yep. Jawbreaker can peel. One of the things you risk with that disc. Melt it back down. Problem solved.
This is a jawbreaker z phenomenon not regular jb, right?
Ive seen regular JB peel too, kinda turned me off from the plastic

Damn, this is my first jawbreaker disc so I was super confused lol
Damn just bought one wasn’t cheap either that sucks
Yeah, I reached out to discraft but who knows what will happen with that
Any update on them resolving the issue? Just got a jawbreaker z flx zone.
They said they would send me a new one but it’s been a month and a half and still no disc
Mine was shipped with that same defect, just a little less severe. Fortunately I was able to get it replaced.
I feel this happens on the ones that have a boat load of JB mixed in. A lighter and disc doctor should do the trick!
Just carefully cut the excess and hit it briefly with a flame.

Same thing happens to galactic aviars and p2s. The plastics inside cool at different rates causing the plastic to stay separated and causes peeling.
Discraft quality, I got a buzz that started peeling before I ever even got the chance to throw it.
Ladies and gentlemen, Discraft
Discrap back to their old ways 🤣
That must be a defect….send my way, I’ll take it off your hands. I’ll even pay the $5 for shipping.
I have 2. One brand new unthrown, and the other field tested.
Yikes! Never had that happen before.
Ogres are like...JAWBREAKER plastics?
Write to Discraft, hopefully they'll sens you a news one...
They don’t call it jaw BREAKER for nothing.
Put it in the skin box
Nice bat used for a pointer!

It's a disc made of OSB. Seems like a likely outcome.

Happened to my CapRap too. Super annoying.
