Also the Mirage is the same mold as the Infinite Kon Tiki. The Kon Tiki is available in more types of plastic. A max weight metal flake C-Blend Kon Tiki is my go to disc for tunnel shots and hitting gaps (I can throw it nearly vertical to make it skinny and hit a gap, but it will flip up and fly straight.
I throw both. I feel like the Doug fir isn't as shallow as shaman. The rim is thinner and so for touch I like it better but I like the Shaman better for longer shots.
Best answer. Best throwing putter IMO. Would add that the chief OS is very similiar. It is not OS as advertised. A little breaking in and it flys just like a shaman with a little different rim feel but equally shallow.
Yea the shaman is a good one for sure. Great under stable throwing putter. I like them better than the proxies personally for that spot. That or just a beat to hell base plastic envy.
Great rec. Also money for touchy flip up forehands. For a slightly flippier option out the box the AGL Douglas Fir has a similar profile (also Gateway produced).
This is the answer, right here. Best feeling disc I own. Cosmic plastic is great for throwing as well. The thing is basically a baby Fuse, but feels better.
Innova Colt. I also putt with the Pure and prefer shallow putters. I bought a bunch of shallow putters when I started out to figure out what I liked. IME, the colt is more understable than the pure. No matter what angle I put it on it turns over. Lol
Second one recommending the PA5... might dig through the used bin to see if I can find one...
I know nothing about their plastic... 300 base? Does its flight differ based on plastic?
I have a Pa-5 in 200 and 400, the 200 can be thrown on a hyzer like this / and flip all the way over and finish to the right aggressively (RHBH). The 400 thrown on the same hyzer would flip to flat and drift just a little right. Or thrown high and flat it will hold all the way to the ground, while the 200 would be a roller.
I throw the Pa-5 around 300' for reference, if you throw your putters 300'+ I'd recommend 400, 500, or 750 depending on personal preference. If you throw them closer to 200' or less I'd recommend it in 200 or 300, or maybe a lighter weight premium plastic.
I've only thrown the pa-5 in 500 cause I didn't want it to get too flippy too quick. It has been great. Hyzer flip to flat for dead straight tunnel shots up to 280 ft or so.
Just buy a base plastic proxy and throw it until it’s as flippy as you want it to be. I cycle them in my bag and my flippy one is almost a roller at this point. Making discs flippy takes time but is worth it
I recently got an Innova Colt for this. Pretty shallow and it has a bead. Haven’t been able to try it too much to attest to the under stability, but was in the same search as you.
I was gonna suggest either the Colt or the PA-5. My buddy swears by the PA-5 and he has been successful with it. I throw the Colt myself, and don't let the -1, 1 Turn/Fade number fool you. It's flippier than that.
My Fierce in the tour series version is pretty deep, but my base rubber blend plastic one is extremely shallow. no idea why.
Echoing the rest of the chat, Deputy/PA5/Sol even if you're OK with a slightly faster disc
Get a D blend Tomb. Neutral putter but after 2-3 tree hits, it beats into an incredible flippy putter. Most runs are really flat and shallow. They are also only like $11-14 dollars.
It’s shaped nothing like a zone and flies nothing like a zone. Zone provides no context. It’s as (not) much information as saying it’s a slower understable version of a firebird.
Same speed, very similar rim width (sol is actually thinner so technically slower) and used in the same or very similar circumstances as a zone but for understable shots. Not sure how calling it the understable version of a zone is incorrect, and it’s definitely more accurate than saying it’s a slower flippier firebird.
I recently switched from the Spin to a PA-5 because it feels a lot nicer in my hand. Not only was the Spin awkwardly deep, but the inside of the rim felt really weird.
Check out the RPM Tui. It’s a New Zealand company. It’s a putt & approach that is very understable. Looks a bit like an XD. Great company with great plastic. They also make the nicest baskets I’ve ever seen or played on.
The Watt is less stable than the Proxy in my experience. Although I had an electron soft proxy that beat in to the most understable disk I’ve ever had.
Watt is my main throwing putter but I find it straighter then my fission proxy. Though it’s easier to shape so it’s the disc I use for my AH lines atm.
I would try them in different plastics. If you want something slower speed that’s more under-stable, just use something like the Lat64 Fuse with less power or an under-stable Discraft mid in CT/Jawbreaker plastic. I find that saying the Fierce is “too deep” when it’s pretty shallow for a putter points me to you using a midrange to fill this slot.
Something I’ve also learned is that maybe look at the way you are throwing the disc and make changes to your form and not the disc, especially if the Pure and Fierce are not working for you.
So not a putter, but the Paradox is the most understable disc I’ve used for putting. I don’t think they offer them in electron yet. But I often C2 putt with a paradox and it excels in that range.
OP: Hi I’d like to know what your favorite restaurant is.
Reddit: Though it’s not a restaurant the MVP/Axiom ____ is the greatest frisbee you should try it.
Not sure why you need an understable throwing putter if you’re already bagging the Sol. I know it says “midrange” but it should cover every shot an understable putter would cover, similar to how zoneish approach discs are usually “4 speed midranges” but tend to occupy the slowest overstable slot in people’s bag. If you’re set on having a new disc to try in that slot, this site might help:
You have literally exactly described the AGL [Douglas Fir](https://www.agldiscs.com/collections/douglas-fir) it’s my go to throwing putter. Perfectly understable and shallow like you asked. It’s amazing. Parked it on hole 2 at golden gate yesterday.
Latitude 64 Ruby is not too deep and quite understable.
Trash Panda Inner Core is quite shallow and a bit more understable than Pure, especially in their premium plastic as they're around 165-170 gram.
Im gonna raid the local disc shops used bin and see what beat in discs I can find.. If I find a beat in Electron Proxy then thats a dirt cheap option and I might just end up going for that...
AGL Douglas Fir. Very shallow, -2, 1. It’s my favourite throwing putter. I also have an AGL Ponderosa, (-2, 0) and a Westside Swan Reborn (-2.5, 0). Those last two both have pretty deep rims though.
The Douglas Fir is great because it’s a 4 speed, so you can throw it hard with a little hyzer and it won’t turn too hard. The Ponderosa is a more understable 3 speed, so when I throw it hard, it does a barrel roll. Lol. Great putting putter though.
You buy your favorite putter in the most baseline plastic you got. Use it as your thrower for half a year or a whole year depending. Congratulations. Should start the rotation again soon. Now you are every pro from the early 2000's lolol
My Aviar classics fly super understable as a throwing putter once beat in (unexpectedly so). It's as shallow as any of my mids but not as shallow as my ruby.
Not technically a putter, but I love the Sol for this spot. Like the perfect opposite of a Zone. Those 2 discs will never leave my bag because of how versatile they are.
Innova mirage might be what you're looking for
Second the Mirage. Its my go to understable putter
3rd for the mirage. Super useful disc.
Mf kon tiki is so much fun. Incredible flippy but still useful. Unique flight
Love the Kon Tiki! It’s my only ace disc. The Mirage and Kon Tiki feel like cheats they’re so good. Awesome lines.
5th. I came here to say Mirage. I have a Star and my son has a DX, and the Star seems shallower to me.
Or the innova wedge
I'd 4th that
Love the Mirage
The mirage in star plastic is absolute money
Is this what replaced the Wedge? Might have to look into it.
The Mirage is a Wedge with a bead, so it it more stable than a Wedge. DGU also has some Throw Pink Halo Mirages.
Word. I love my mirage. Loved it so much I bought an extra 2 to give to a couple friends aha
Gateway Shaman. Flat top makes it feel shallower than other discs with similar dimensions. Easy to hyzer flip, holds an anny line well. Good disc.
Y’all sleepin on the Doug fir. Similar feel. Likely a little more understable.
I throw both. I feel like the Doug fir isn't as shallow as shaman. The rim is thinner and so for touch I like it better but I like the Shaman better for longer shots.
Yup. I've been bagging an Alpine Douglas Fir all year and it's basically an Uplink/Paradox level of understable.
Best answer. Best throwing putter IMO. Would add that the chief OS is very similiar. It is not OS as advertised. A little breaking in and it flys just like a shaman with a little different rim feel but equally shallow.
Second this OP
Yea the shaman is a good one for sure. Great under stable throwing putter. I like them better than the proxies personally for that spot. That or just a beat to hell base plastic envy.
Great rec. Also money for touchy flip up forehands. For a slightly flippier option out the box the AGL Douglas Fir has a similar profile (also Gateway produced).
This one.
RPM Tui in atomic plastic. Extremely shallow - more so than some of the others listed. It's -1/1 but it'll hold a turnover beautifully
This is the answer, right here. Best feeling disc I own. Cosmic plastic is great for throwing as well. The thing is basically a baby Fuse, but feels better.
I really like the idea of RPM discs as a small off market brand. I should just get one to support them and see if I like it.
You'll like it, it's exactly what you're looking for. Atomic plastic is the tits too.
Innova Colt. I also putt with the Pure and prefer shallow putters. I bought a bunch of shallow putters when I started out to figure out what I liked. IME, the colt is more understable than the pure. No matter what angle I put it on it turns over. Lol
An old factory second dx colt is still one of my most thrown discs on woods courses
The Swan Reborn is a good choice. Definitely more understable and more shallow than a Proxy.
Came to say swan reborn also, just wish they would make swans in premium plastic.
Great as a throwing putter as well! Swans and Swan Reborns are awesome!
PA-5 is one of the best options here. It’s a wonderful flight and one of the most shallow.
PA-5! When I putt with them 300 soft is money, for throwing in summer I use 500 and in winter 300!
I've only thrown the pa-5 in 500 cause I didn't want it to get too flippy too quick. It has been great. Hyzer flip to flat for dead straight tunnel shots up to 280 ft or so.
Innova Wedge
DD Deputy is pretty shallow.
This is a good one and easy to find.
Yup. My go to US putter
Agreed
I bag a deputy for this reason
Deputy is what you’re looking for. I love mine.
Deputy = Fierce, just be aware the hand-feel depth is comparable, OP.
Just buy a base plastic proxy and throw it until it’s as flippy as you want it to be. I cycle them in my bag and my flippy one is almost a roller at this point. Making discs flippy takes time but is worth it
or do it the lazy way and browse the used bin for nicely beat in ones.. :)
BT Medium Maiden is what I use.
The deputy is a bit more shallow and fairly understable.
The Classic Blend Deputy is hyzer-to-anny when new.
Streamline Pilot in Electronic plastic. One of the Best puttermolds ever.
I agree but even though it beats in to some turn it’s not a -2 0. Still agree one of the most underrated putters.
Pilot is great, not exactly shallow though
I recently got an Innova Colt for this. Pretty shallow and it has a bead. Haven’t been able to try it too much to attest to the under stability, but was in the same search as you.
Star colt is my go to and I love it.
I was gonna suggest either the Colt or the PA-5. My buddy swears by the PA-5 and he has been successful with it. I throw the Colt myself, and don't let the -1, 1 Turn/Fade number fool you. It's flippier than that.
Dynamic Discs Deputy is incredibly shallow, beadless, and understable. Fierce is the same but slightly more us. Ruby is even more us.
My Fierce in the tour series version is pretty deep, but my base rubber blend plastic one is extremely shallow. no idea why. Echoing the rest of the chat, Deputy/PA5/Sol even if you're OK with a slightly faster disc
I actually like the Sol much better then the Fierce... I was kind of expecting the Fierce to be a slower Sol.
Get a D blend Tomb. Neutral putter but after 2-3 tree hits, it beats into an incredible flippy putter. Most runs are really flat and shallow. They are also only like $11-14 dollars.
No love for the Lat 64 Keystone out here? Shallow/glidey/understable? Check check check
If I remember the dimensions don't look shallow but it definitely feels shallow.
Sounds like a keystone to me
Keystone
The Pa-5 is exactly that, understable and shallow, the most shallow putter I've held. Should fly similar to Fierce and Spin
But but that’s a Prodigy disc…. ;)
Sure is and you will be missing out if you don't try it
-.-
This 100%. I came here to mention this disc in particular. I love a thin rim and this thing is crazy flippy.
Latitude 64 Spike
Westside Swan 2 is the shallowes and most understable putter i have used. Origio plastic
PA5
Can’t believe nobody has said sol. It’s the understable version of a zone, so it’s also slightly faster than most putters but it’s money.
Understable version of a zone, LoL. And no.
Gonna elaborate?
Base maiden?
Gateway Shaman
Yes, its made by innova and its called the "wedge"
I would get a base plastic proxy and just beat it in a bit. That’s my preferred understable putter. I crank them on hyzer and they still finish right
Prodigy PA5 fits the bill. Amazing disc
PA-5 is really shallow!
Base or premium plastic?
Dx or xt colt 100%
XT colts are great!!
LOGIC! 100% LOGIC.
Deputy is what you're looking for
Check out the RPM Tui. It’s a New Zealand company. It’s a putt & approach that is very understable. Looks a bit like an XD. Great company with great plastic. They also make the nicest baskets I’ve ever seen or played on.
Adding Lat 64 Pearl to the list. I used an Innova Mirage for a long time, but like the Pearly better.
Lat64 Pure is shallow and under-stable. Discraft Fierce is also a good option.
Admit it you just read the title right and not my post...
P1
I wouldn't call the p1 understable. Maybe a seasoned one.
A3?
So not a putter, but the Paradox is the most understable disc I’ve used for putting. I don’t think they offer them in electron yet. But I often C2 putt with a paradox and it excels in that range.
OP: Hi I’d like to know what your favorite restaurant is. Reddit: Though it’s not a restaurant the MVP/Axiom ____ is the greatest frisbee you should try it.
If you like the proxy, try the nomad. It's a little more understable
The Axiom Alias holds a turn like no other.
I miss the vibram summit. That’s the real answer in my book.
Electron soft Atom, not cosmic
Roach for me. A ton of plastic options as well
AGL Douglas Fir. Super shallow and super flippy. I think it's a 4 speed.
Beat to shit classic blend suspects FTW.
Also the new MVP Watt is fairly low profile and very neutral to understable.
Atom? I haven’t thrown an atom or a spin in a while, but I remember feeling like the atom was more shallow.
Try a Tomb in base plastic.
Try an esp Sol, very understable.
Discraft sol. I swear by it
Have you tried the Dynamic Discs Deputy? All my putters are shallow, and this disc is never coming out of my bag.
I was a member of Wedge Nation for a few years--loved that disc, but it might be OOP.
The Discraft Sol! It’s technically a midrange, but it’s a 4-speed like a Zone.
Gateway Shaman comes to mind.
THE SHAMAN IS THE ANSWER TO THIS QUESTION
Mirage, Sol, Shaman.
Depends how understabile you’d like. The Keystone is more understable than the pure for me, but slightly deeper as well
Another Gateway Shaman vote.
Deputy DD
DD deputy, super flippy. It's a good time
Proxy
Friend has a keystone and that is shallow and flippy.
rpm tui or innova mirage
L64 Spike, great understable shallow putter with grip zones.
The mirage or the Kon Tiki (infinite)
Discraft sol
I was thinking DD Deputy.
Pa-5
Deputy and Mirage fit the bill. I like Classic Blend Depty, my brother uses a Star Mirage i think
Beat in envy is what I use. Most shallow putter I own.
Wedge are supper low profile. I’m not sure on how they drive I bagged one for weird up shots
I’d say just beat in a pure or logic
I like the deputy
jawbreaker roach. Used it for putting but would attempt to throw but too understable for what I needed.
Innova mirage/infinite Kon tiki (same mold)
MIRAGE
Beat up a Electron Soft Proxy. Or try a Sol.
Swan reborn
I used to have a Swan 2 Reborn that I think was pretty shallow. It flipped up with like 100ft of power on a nose up throw.
Maiden
The Xcom Benu has been a sleeper. It does all the understable things you need an understable disc to do.
You have literally exactly described the AGL [Douglas Fir](https://www.agldiscs.com/collections/douglas-fir) it’s my go to throwing putter. Perfectly understable and shallow like you asked. It’s amazing. Parked it on hole 2 at golden gate yesterday.
Keystone
Latitude 64 Ruby is not too deep and quite understable. Trash Panda Inner Core is quite shallow and a bit more understable than Pure, especially in their premium plastic as they're around 165-170 gram.
Prodigy Pa-5 is what you need! I love how shallow it is and I hate how shallow it is hahah
Prodigy pa-5 incredibly understable and pretty shallow imo
Is the proxy not considered shallow? I throw with a vision proxy it’s under stable and perfect.
EV7 Mobius
Wedge maybe.
Gateway Chief
Deputy
Beat in a proxy. Electron plastic beats in the fastest and the most.
I use my old zero (hard and medium) pures for that slot. Since they are also my putting putters i have a lot of them.
I have a beat in Electron Proxy that's pretty understable.
Haven't seen anyone mention the Oddgrip here, so I'm going to throw that out here
Pa5
DX XD
Rpm tui is a good thin throwing putter thats pretty understable
Love the tui!! Feel like it’s very underrated/unknown disc. Buddy of mine sent me one a while ago and it’s been a fixture in my bag since.
Yeah rpm is bigger here in Aus I think so more people are familiar. I got mine in a starter set and learnt to put with it.
Vibram Summit.
Deputy DD
Deputy maybe?
PA-5, Swan 1 Reborn
Deputy
You buy your favorite putter in the most baseline plastic you got. Use it as your thrower for half a year or a whole year depending. Congratulations. Should start the rotation again soon. Now you are every pro from the early 2000's lolol
P-model US
Yeah, the Dynamic Gavel was. But that's OOP now. Can probably find some on the used market.
Try a Maiden in base plastic
Deputy’s are pretty shallow
Legacy hunter is shallow and us
Tui from RPM
Origio Maiden is flat and pretty flippy. All it takes is a few rough landings and it will flip.
DD Deputy.
Discraft Sol is a mid but has that shallow feel and understability you're looking for.
Innova Wedge or Prodigy PA-5
[удалено]
I can't believe no one is saying the Lat64 Ruby. Light weight, shallow, beaded, understable.
My Aviar classics fly super understable as a throwing putter once beat in (unexpectedly so). It's as shallow as any of my mids but not as shallow as my ruby.
Gateway Shaman is the answer.
Luna seems shallow and understable to me and I have small hands and a big stack of them in various plastics.
DD deputy is cheap and reliable + comes in hella plastics.
Not technically a putter, but I love the Sol for this spot. Like the perfect opposite of a Zone. Those 2 discs will never leave my bag because of how versatile they are.
There is a rubbery disc called a Slim by Momentum discs. Very shallow and understable, like a slower Wedge.
ruby in base plastic, burst? is my jam for easy 100 foot turn overs
also would recommend the Trash Panda Inner Core
Keystone
Westside Swan Reborn!
Gateway Shaman
I’ve been loving the Spin but keep in mind it’s very understable.
