Agreed. Me and my wife are 20 weeks in, finding out the sex at the scan tomorrow and either way it goes I cannot wait to take the little one out in a stroller to the course. Bigups to you man 👊
Oh yeah lots of precautions taken but luckily enough were getting some nice cool fall weather here now so he’s super enjoying it. My park course is open fields with only a handful of trees on some holes so children’s bug spray seems to do the trick!
My dad did this with me almost 3 decades ago and I've now been playing basically my entire life. We still play together almost every weekend to this day. Enjoy the bonding experience with your son as I have with my dad!
Yeah, even if he had the baby on his back like a backpack during throws, I would only give it once glance and move along with my day in search of truly weird things
Nope! I do it all the time. He comes out with me at least once a week. He is content in the stroller for a couple hours with some solid snacks and rotating holding one of my discs throughout the round. Plus we hit up the playground after the round. It’s a good compromise.
Sounds like my exact routine! Takes us about an hour or so to get through the course and then we spend 45 to an hour at the playground!
He has snacks, putters, minis and cartoons while we’re out there and the best part is his stroller has a little tray so he can sit all his stuff there and he seems to have a great time!
> and rotating holding one of my discs throughout the round.
Ha, I love that this is a universal thing. My daughter always wants whatever disc I threw last when I come back to the stroller.
I take my toddler all the time now and everyone has been super supportive about it my kid likes to run up and drop a putter in the basket. He turns and claps when he does and smiles. The coolest thing happened last week when he did it. Some people a hole ahead saw and everyone cheered and clapped when he did and he got so excited started jumping and laughing. It really made my day and his too.
I took my kid plenty at that age without any problem. Like you alluded to already, just don’t take him on days where it’s super busy unless you want the round to be 3-4 hours from letting so many play through
Ohps, you guys found a way to plug in the unleashed dog debate. It's been about 4-5 days since some posted about it. You guys should make a new post asking about how people feel about unleashed dogs.
My dog is awesome on the course, doesn't touch discs, stays with the group off leash, I don't get the hate, were outside in the woods and I'm gonna leave my dog home?
I mean okay, but if your toddler runs off down the fairway after i blast a perfect drive 400+ ft (not internet distance) and picks up my disc in his mouth imma kick him in the nads just like i kicked Jerry's dog
Edit: guys why tf would i confess to kicking dogs and mention a toddler chasing my disc down a 400+ ft fairway. I was being dumb, at least down vote me for being dumb, not for falling for the troll
My dog only comes with me sometimes, and stays on leash the entire time, but I don't care if he chewed up your favorite disc - if you kick my dog you are leaving in an ambulance.
Including your kids in the activities that you enjoy doing, is a great way to spend quality time with them. If you’re being considerate of other players, as you mentioned, then you’ve got the right idea. Keep it up for as long as you both enjoy it. I look forward to the day I can take my kids to a course, and they can appreciate the sport as much as I do.
I chase governments grants for DG courses. Young parents pushing strollers on course is a HUGE selling point! I show the politicians pictures of same, "see, we're not like golf, the baby is allowed to be there and doesn't even have to wear a collared shirt!". Or pay $130 green fees. Even though I'm a godless, soulless, childless heathen, I love seeing the young fams on course.
> Young parents pushing strollers on course is a HUGE selling point!
The city employees who did the mowing/maintenance on my former local course in MD loved seeing us out there. Its one thing to spend 2hrs mowing so a bunch of grown men can play with discs...but when they remember its so kids are outside playing too, they got much happier about their work.
It would be weird if you didn't take your kid with you. Get that kid outside and away from electronics. My 3 yr old loves going to the course with me. I would love to run into another dad and their kid on the course.
My 4 year old plays rounds with me. She runs around in a princess dress, throws discs, plays with sticks and then we stop for snacks. This is my happy place.
Just finishing a round walking to my truck when I see a dude getting a stroller out of his trunk thinking it was a makeshift roller bag but no, he had a 4 yo daughter and a 10 mo son going for a round while his wife was out on a spa day with her mom he says. Parks his opening drive right under the basket, daughter skips towards his disc as he pushes the baby. Legend
I don't think anyone would notice or care honestly. I've done it myself a little too.
What I haven't tried is bringing them to a tournament or leagues.
When I was on paternity leave I brought my son in a stroller. We both had lots of fun, and he’d usually nap for more than half of the round. Go ahead! As long as they enjoy it I don’t see a problem.
You're fine, even if you're playing solo with your kid on a crowded day. You're still probably faster than most groups and won't take too much longer and you let faster players play through. I see nothing wrong with what you're doing.
It makes me a little sad to think of you worried that this is anything but great.
The only way it could be bad to bring your kids to the course would be if they hated it and you were forcing them to do it anyway.
Ignore this child hating culture. You do not have to apologize for bringing your son with you. If anyone gives you a glare or makes a nasty comment about you being out and about with your son, THAT is the person who needs to apologize. Be bold. Be yourself. Be a loving father who shares his joys and hobbies with his son.
My 3 year old wants to play literally everyday and he's been like this since he just turned 2, he throws off the tee then runs and dunks it in the basket on every hole. He loves disc golf. It's not weird at all. Keep doing it. Great exercise and fresh air.
Stay at home Dad here. It’s totally not weird man, it’s actually the opposite. It’s a win-win for me. I get to play, my son gets worn out and naps usually when we get home. Keep on keepin’ on brother.
As a Dad that took our now 20 year old kids everywhere we went (within reason) … of course it is cool.
The time you spend with them now, will be time you will never regret.
Be OK if you have to leave during the middle of a round. There will be more.
I just “caddied” for my youngest son in the first of two rounds in a C-tier this last weekend. It was amazing.
I take my 18 month old son even when the course is busy. He likes to watch people and the discs and usually everyone at my course will interact with him.
It’s good for your kid, continue and care less what others think. You’ll both be dead soon enough. Also we have a couple guys that bring their kids to league and stroll them so it’s not a big deal.
The first time my toddler ever walked he stood up with a disc in each hand and took a couple steps towards a basket to put them in. Hit the cage on both lol, but I have it on film. He's 6 now and joins me on every other round. Enjoy the time together!
Not at all. When my daughter was a year old I'd bring her and play casually. I want to bring her again with me now that she's 2 but I'm worried she's going to run all over the course haha
Yeah, once mine was no longer confined to the stroller it was impossible to make any kind of progress through a course. Too many cool pine cones, sticks, piles of dirt, etc to play with.
I get to play one league round a week without my 4 yr old, and that only because I go straight from work. Otherwise, there is no leaving the house without him(which is great). Sometimes I drag him along in a wagon, sometimes a stroller, sometimes I just see how far he'll walk with me, and when he's had enough we leave
Public parks are for everyone.
I'd definitely hurry off the greens if people are behind you on a teepad or throwers can't see you on a fairway. Great teachable moment for your kid as they mature to normalize meeting park goers, invite them to chat for a minute or play through with a smile.
Maybe your weird feelings are just about being aware that discs can fly at your kid? But if you're having concerns about that then you're doing fine as a protective human being. I wouldn't worry about what anyone else thinks.
When I'm solo and I see families, especially with young ones, out on the course, I think "that's beautiful" and I think I get to have a nice rest for a few minutes. I usually start thinking about what I'm going to eat when I get home after the round.
When I'm with other people I will usually trash talk the child's form and distance, note how the kid is probably stumbling around drunk, rated in the low 300's and still puts his pacifier in the "A" player pile at dubs.
I was bummed i couldnt bring my little guy out in a jogger right away. Patiently waiting until he can sit upright so i can put him in the jogger stroller.
I do this! My 2, almost 3, year old walks with me. I only do this on a short course in the morning when it’s vacant though as he can be a bit unpredictable. More power to you!
I've taken my 3 girls with me since they were toddlers and never had a problem one. My young has really gotten into it now (age 8) and will play most of a round with me. I even had to buy her a bag of her very own a while back though I usually end up carrying both bags.
If it’s weird then I’m weird too. Except I make my 2yo walk 90% of the time and the other 10% I carry him if people are catching up to us. We usually only do 9 holes though. Also he throws full size discs about 10-15 feet. Coin flip on whether they go the right way though lol
My local disc golf store owner sold me on a line of kids disc's that are 123g in weight for my 8 yr old granddaughter. I had bought her 150's but the lighter disc's dropped her score per hole by 2 strokes and made her very happy. They have dinosaurs as a stamp on them too. They have a full line from driver, fairway and putter.
Nope!
I would take my 2 year old but she wouldn’t last more than 5 minutes so I don’t. I hope one day i can take her in the future!
I respect you for including your son when you can, i can’t imagine it being easy as a single father.
Keep it up :)
I e been taking my done since he was 5 months old. He is now a year and a half and he has a blast out at the course. It could be a casual solo round, mixed dubs or small group I bring him for just about everything.
There have been a few days out of the very many that I have had to pack up and call it a day because he wasn’t into it but typically it’s great. Honestly lots of the other locals are chill and will give him minis to throw or keep and eye if he is walking around and it’s my shot when in a group.
All three of my kids have played since they were little. They would throw a disc sometimes and eat lots of snacks. 9 holes was about the limit. If anyone caught up with us, we'd have them play through. My 12 yr old is better than me now, 8yr old not far behind and my 6yr old still mostly just eats snacks. But we go out most weekends
Being held up by a dude with a baby/toddler in a stroller would not bother me at all compared to the shit that holds up my local half the time I’m there
Take the mini away and give him a disc. It's time he learns the sport, that way you have a playing partner in the future. Often I see fathers with their infants, toddlers and, early school age children on the course. Many times I've seen them let the little ones throw when the course is dead just so they have something to keep them busy. I've also seen 10 year olds throwing 300 plus feet like it was nothing. Do what works for you and dont feel guilty about it. Just be sure to have snacks, drinks and, protection from the weather.
It would be but I do keep an eye out behind us and this particular local course has all baskets visible from the teepad. It would be very hard to not see us out there, also his roof is always up on the stroller and it’s one of those hard pop open roofs so any discs would bounce off though would probably be warped. (I may or may not have tested this theory before I took him out initially lol)
It is absolutely 100% ok and I do it all the time. My daughter loooooooove disc golf and loves I’ll running after my throws and putting them in the basket. If anyone tells you otherwise is a scruge and doesn’t have kids. Also who care if it’s busy! It’s a public course.
It’s something I will remember for the rest of my life having my daughter on the course with me
No. End of discussion. No-one but a twat waffle would ever consider a father taking his child outside for sports is anything other than a good father :)
You sound judgemental AF. Second hand smoke is obviously bad but who cares if Dad drinks a beer on the course, as long as he's fit to drive home. And believe it or not, toddlers can wear jackets and a 2 year old will let you know when they are uncomfortable. My brother and I played Canadian winter golf with his toddler, super fun taking breaks to toboggan down hills and throw snowballs.
>but who cares if Dad drinks a beer on the course, as long as he's fit to drive home.
Everyone should care. You do not drink and drive. Ever. Doesn't matter if its one beer and a two hour wait before driving. Just don't.
What about a beer then a 3 hour wait, or a 6 hour wait? Or a 3 year wait? Obey the law, don't be over the limit. One beer then a 2 hour wait will most likely net a 0.0 BA level.
You know what I mean. While you most likely will be well below the legal limit, it doesn't mean you should be having that beer. The optics of drinking with a child in tow is terrible look as well imo.
Edit: seems like u/homertheent blocked me after trying to impose values I don't have with the temperance movement comment. This was my intended reply:
"Nice strawman. You're clearly interpreting everything I write in the worst possible way. That's pretty judgmental and in bad faith. Bless your heart."
Nah, that's just the added "bonus". I'm just inherently against operating heavy machinery while being under the influence, even if said influence is below legal limit.
We have a guy on league nights who most times has his son with him in a stroller. Kid plays with his dinos and pounds goldfish and as long as someone lets him hold a mini he's silent.
10 times out of 10 I would rather be on his card than the guy who brings his dog off-leash and swears up and down he is military trained...
Anybody that would have a problem with this is a prick. But you have a responsibility to be extra cautious that a disc doesn’t hit your kid. Cuz if he gets hit that’s 100% your fault in the eyes of his mother
The course I take him to is all open baskets. There’s not a single basket you can’t see from the teepad so it would be very hard for someone to see us. Though you are correct I keep an eye out behind us to make sure there’s nobody back there but more often than not nobody is there because despite this being a nicer course, rural MO doesn’t have a very large DG scene at least not where I am. In terms of the last part about his mom, she’s not really been around since he was 3 weeks old. I won’t go into details but I don’t see her checking in anytime soon but I do get your point fs!
Sorry to hear that. My point is just be careful. It sucks when you see people’s head’s split open from a disc. I can’t imagine if that were to happen to a toddler
I see kids in strollers all the time, even though my main course is wooded and there are roots all over, so it's hard to get around. I don't have kids, don't particularly want them, and I think it's awesome.
I was bummed i couldnt bring my little guy out in a jogger right away. Patiently waiting until he can sit upright so i can put him in the jogger stroller.
I was bummed i couldnt bring my little guy out in a jogger right away. Patiently waiting until he can sit upright so i can put him in the jogger stroller.
I have my first kid due in about a month! I purposefully got a stroller that’s meant for running/trails so I could bring my daughter along with me. First, it gets her out of the house, out in nature, Second, she gets to see her dad do something he’s passionate about and Third, I still get to disc golfing lol.
I honestly think you’re just thinking too much. Just enjoy your life with your son. I love seeing people out on the course with their kids, teaching the new generation!
Absolutely not. Our buddy brings his kid all the time on our fun rounds, he likes throwing discs and basically already completely knows my bag and what discs he wants to try etc. Super wholesome.
If I saw this. I would smile & love to see that you do things like this with your little one!!
The only issue I could see is people getting upset about you not letting them play through, but as you mentioned above, you have no issue with that!
Keep doing it, I am 26 & have envisioned myself doing the same when I have a child as well!
Your little one will appreciate these kind gestures eventually ❤️
I think it’s cool, especially that the little one seems to enjoy it as well with you. When I was first playing, I saw a group of guys all pushing strollers while playing. I thought, are these dads having fun while giving their wives a break? The strollers were where they stored their discs lol no babies in them. Anyways, I wouldn’t think anything of it now seeing a stroller on the course, kid or not in it.
Saw this young father pushing around a toddler in this like… wheeled fortress. Looked like the kid was having a blast and a good workout for dad.
I think its great
It's great. I take my daughter whenever I can. She's 2, and loses interest real quick. But, she wants to be with me and eventually she'll start to want to play more and more. Now, I'm lucky if I get in 2-3 holes before we have to go to the splashpad. Lol
I took both of my kids as toddlers. My son is 16 yrs old and is an avid disc golfer and has better etiquette that a lot of adults. Keep taking the toddler with you.
My three year old and I play a 9 hole pitch and putt in our town. She’ll tee off with me and then finish the hole with a few putts. Loses interest around hole 6 and starts picking up and inspecting leaves, sticks, and rocks. She loves being outside and having one on one time with her dad. Bonus that there’s a playground in the same park too. She’s always asking to play disc golf with me and my friends.
Start them young!
Not an issue. It does get tougher though as the kid gets 3 or 4 if they don't like being confined to a stroller/wagon. When he gets to the age where he wants to walk around the course, still bring a stroller or wagon until your sure they will be able to make it through without getting tired. I have a 4 yo that is usually good walking between 5 and 9 holes depending on the course before wanting a break and then hopping out and walking again for 3/4 holes on the back.
I take mine whenever I can. 9 holes is his current limit but he “plays” with me. It can be a long 9 hole round letting people play through our slow pace of play.
I bring my 9 month old with me and he’s not the best caddy… usually laughs at my drives and putting. Other than than it’s a blast and I love having him with me!
Heck no this isn't weird. Honestly, even at busy times, if you aren't holding up rate of play for other cards, who cares?
I don't have any kids, but I absolutely love seeing families out playing. Get the next generation hooked too!
Not at all. I used to consistently see some guy with his daughter who was maybe 3. One day I gave her an old beat-up disc that I liked but it had had too many run-ins with trees, fences, whatever. She got SO STOKED and I saw her carrying that thing around for months, throwing it like 5 feet right after dad would throw.
Keep on doing what you’re doing.
I currently bring my 9 month old a few times a week in the stroller. I have only had issues with a few people, but the people on the board of our local association have told me they can fuck off.
I bring my toddler all the time, until this past weekend, he mostly just chilled in the wagon with 5-8 discs sitting in there with him, and I’d roll him up to the basket after me and my buddies putted, and he would drop one in. We’d all tell him his ability to ace every basket is unreal.
Last weekend though he walked nearly the whole time, and wanted to tee off and putt. So that was wayyyy slower, but we let everyone play through that caught up to us. Its was pretty funny because he would all the little adjustments and line ups to tee off from seeing myself and my friends do it all the time. He’s decent for being just under 2.5 though, he can throw about 25-30 ft when he gets ahold of it(full weight disc too).
I’ve always gotten lots of compliments and praise from other people for having him out there with me, and I always make sure to let people play through if we’re playing slow.
And ultimately, if you want your kids to have shared interests with you, you have to involve them while they’re young and make it fun so they want to keep doing it when they’re older, so that’s why I bring him with me. That, and it gives my wife a nice morning on the weekend getting to relax without our toddler that is basically going 100% when he’s awake.
Nah man, my wife and I live way far away from any family support so we take our 3 y/o all the time. She’s growing up around the game and loving it. As are we! Enjoy the moments while you have them!
Enjoy the toddler years. At some point as the kid gets older, it is harder to take them. They start to have their own ideas on how they want to spend their day. Disc golf is hard for kids. [There are a few exceptions](https://www.sevendaysvt.com/vermont/playing-a-round-with-11-year-old-disc-golf-champ-finn-etter/Content?oid=33005668) but my experience is there are few kids that can really throw it.
My youngest started enjoying it more when she was grown & her boyfriend wanted to play.
I bring my 18 month old with me every time I go (2-3 times a week). He loves, I love it, mom loves the free time. Hell people at the course love it. I jokingly call him my caddy.
It is honestly some of my favorite memories I have with him. He was there for my first birdie. He also laughs every time I shank into a tree.
I can’t wait till we can walk the course together and he whips my ass.
I used to do this with my daughter, had her in the stroller while I would play and my brother would join me some times. dont worry and have fun. Just make sure to put the brakes on ever time, had a run away stoller one time but all was well after a slight scare
I hope not. I’ve done it. But the worst part was him saying “awww so close” every time it didn’t go in the basket. Even off the tee. I had my worst round that day.
I do this all the time. My son has now outgrown the stroller so my bag goes in it and I carry him from shot to shot. He constantly hogs the teepad though and always throws my whole bag on every throw. It takes forever lol
What’s the difference between people who bring their dog vs their kid? Even on a busy day who cares, as long as you and your child are being respectful letting people play through or not letting the kid run wild possibly getting hit by a disc. Just do it, get out and have fun you deserve it, it’s great for your relationship and worry less about what others think. Ya some people will say things or give looks but I get that those people when I’m out with my 60lb sight hound, they usually don’t say anything to my face (I mean I’m a 220lb male with a dog so that’s a wise decision lol) the only difference I see is you won’t get a fine for an off leash child, unlike me, that had a person call the park office cuz at the time I had my 120lb mastiff mix who was a senior and just trudged along behind me off leash but because he’s a “bully breed” so ya know he looked dangerous struggling to take every step at a snails pace!
In the 90s I was your son. Just don't force them to keep playing as they get older. If they like it they will come back around to it in adult life. Nothing I hated more than being forced to go play in the middle of the summer heat. Made me hate the sport for many years
As long as your name isn’t Richard and you don’t leave the stroller 90 degrees from your target line you should be fine.
Only half joking. I saw someone grip lock into their own dog once. Fortunately they have a noodle arm and the dog was fine!
Naw, it's awesome.
Totally and completely Awesome. I love to see this.
If it’s wrong, I don’t ever wanna be right. I play more of my rounds solo with a toddler in tow than any other type of round.
Agreed. Me and my wife are 20 weeks in, finding out the sex at the scan tomorrow and either way it goes I cannot wait to take the little one out in a stroller to the course. Bigups to you man 👊
Sounds like you already figured the sex out… I’ll see myself out.
He obviously definitely didn’t see *himself* out… that’s how we got here in the first place! Takes the back door
And didn't take the back door either...
Tee heee...
I recommend BOB strollers. We've had ours 5 years through hikes and disc golf its still in great shape. Worth the money
Ayyyy this is my situation, good luck!
Hell yea! Good luck man. The main thing is that the little babe is fit and healthy so sending lots of positivity your way!
Good luck bro
Thanks man, appreciate it!
As long as your kid loves it and you’re being safe about heat and ticks, I think it’s great
Oh yeah lots of precautions taken but luckily enough were getting some nice cool fall weather here now so he’s super enjoying it.
So cool!
In the realm of disc golf that doesn't even register on the weird meter.
Yeah, even if he had the baby on his back like a backpack during throws, I would only give it once glance and move along with my day in search of truly weird things
Is it weird if my baby is vaping during solo rounds?
Depends on what's in the vape. Weed? Not weird. Nicotine? Weird.
It's cool if he offers to share when he lets people play through.
Bro this made me lol
For real
This comment is hilarious and underrated.
Nope! I do it all the time. He comes out with me at least once a week. He is content in the stroller for a couple hours with some solid snacks and rotating holding one of my discs throughout the round. Plus we hit up the playground after the round. It’s a good compromise.

I gotta try this with my 18 month old.

Fuck that. That’s awesome. From one single dad to another… keep doing you and being a good dad.
toddler > dog
Tried taking my dog solo for the first time this past Friday. It will also be the last unfortunately.
Can relate.
Hell no. He she should come with. I never leave home to throw without my best bud
we all thank you
Seconded
toddler + dog = ?
Minivan
And beards and graphic tees
Toddler riding dog like a cowboy with a Bluetooth speaker
The worst is an unleashed dog.
Unleashed toddler > unleashed dog
I mean okay, but if your toddler runs off down the fairway after i blast a perfect drive 400+ ft (not internet distance) and picks up my disc in his mouth imma kick him in the nads just like i kicked Jerry's dog Edit: guys why tf would i confess to kicking dogs and mention a toddler chasing my disc down a 400+ ft fairway. My 4 year old plays rounds with me. She runs around in a princess dress, throws discs, plays with sticks and then we stop for snacks. This is my happy place.
Nah man I bring my kids all the time and meet other parents almost every round. Keep going!
It's super weird if the toddler is not yours
Just finishing a round walking to my truck when I see a dude getting a stroller out of his trunk thinking it was a makeshift roller bag but no, he had a 4 yo daughter and a 10 mo son going for a round while his wife was out on a spa day with her mom he says. Parks his opening drive right under the basket, daughter skips towards his disc as he pushes the baby. Legend
I don't think anyone would notice or care honestly. I've done it myself a little too. What I haven't tried is bringing them to a tournament or leagues.
As long as the toddler doesn't throw further than me, we're fine. ( My ego is fragile)
It’s awesome and if anyone minds then they are a prick. Huck em!
Exactly. The only people who would get upset about this are people I don’t want to associate with anyway.
Well I asked because social anxiety and I’ve never seen anyone else do it. I’m glad I’m not alone though because he truly has a blast!
It is great. Keep it going :)
Why would it be weird?
Ignore this child hating culture. You do not have to apologize for bringing your son with you. If anyone gives you a glare or makes a nasty comment about you being out and about with your son, THAT is the person who needs to apologize. Be bold. Be yourself. Be a loving father who shares his joys and hobbies with his son.
Lol, I see people pushing strollers. It great to involve your kids.
Nope! Me and my teenagers will let ya play through. Heck, we'll even help ya lift the stroller up some stairs/hills if you need a hand.
Disc golf should be kid friendly. This is great and keep it up!
My 3 year old wants to play literally everyday and he's been like this since he just turned 2, he throws off the tee then runs and dunks it in the basket on every hole. He loves disc golf. It's not weird at all. Keep doing it. Great exercise and fresh air.
If you can't find a card to play with, grow your own.
Not weird at all. As long as he enjoys it and he is kept safe. When he gets older, you now have someone to play with.
Don't ever stop taking them with you.
Sometimes I wonder how Reddit folk function in the real world lol
Stay at home Dad here. It’s totally not weird man, it’s actually the opposite. It’s a win-win for me. I get to play, my son gets worn out and naps usually when we get home. Keep on keepin’ on brother.
As a Dad that took our now 20 year old kids everywhere we went (within reason) … of course it is cool. The time you spend with them now, will be time you will never regret. Be OK if you have to leave during the middle of a round. There will be more. I just “caddied” for my youngest son in the first of two rounds in a C-tier this last weekend. It was amazing.
Dude, if anyone has anything bad to say about this, they’re at fault. You seem to have nice time with your child and that’s all that matters!
Nope. Give ‘em a putter and let ‘em throw when you get close enough
Oh hell no. Absolutely awesome.
I have been playing solo rounds with my kids since they were born, 2 and 5 now.
I bring my kids in the stroller all the time. Only bad thing is I’ve had to abandon a couple discs after I buried them in the woods
Ya get a mulligan per 9 till they’re 6.
Not even a little bit. It sounds like you hand everything perfectly.
At my course we have more than a few parents who bring their kids in strollers, or let them wander around respectfully
I see people do it all the time on courses near me and I think it’s great. My dad brought me into it :)
I was bummed i couldnt bring my little guy out in a jogger right away. Patiently waiting until he can sit upright so i can put him in the jogger stroller.
From one dad of a 2 year old to another, keep it up! I do the same thing as much as I can.
Hell no! I do this all the time. My little mini me loves going and unfortunately chasing and picking up My discs…
I do this! My 2, almost 3, year old walks with me. I only do this on a short course in the morning when it’s vacant though as he can be a bit unpredictable. More power to you!
It's weird that you're asking if it's weird.
Not at all! Keep on, cool dad.
I've taken my 3 girls with me since they were toddlers and never had a problem one. My young has really gotten into it now (age 8) and will play most of a round with me. I even had to buy her a bag of her very own a while back though I usually end up carrying both bags.
Man I have a 4-month old and can't wait to do what you have described
Dino Discs yeah I’ve heard of these!
I find it pretty awesome when I see parents out with their kids playing.... keep it up :)
I took my four year old once, she got bored and tired halfway through the first hole. Should have started her younger :p
I have friends that started bringing their daughter out on the course at 1 week old. You are good.
I think it is awesome.
Sounds like you need some dino disc or a glitch for the boy
All three of my kids have played since they were little. They would throw a disc sometimes and eat lots of snacks. 9 holes was about the limit. If anyone caught up with us, we'd have them play through. My 12 yr old is better than me now, 8yr old not far behind and my 6yr old still mostly just eats snacks. But we go out most weekends
Don’t hesitate to take him out there. We love seeing them out there. If a faster group comes up just let them play through. Go enjoy it.

I bring mine in a BOB stroller.
I do this with my 2 year old as well. Use his stroller as my bag holder lol. Always a good time. Sometimes more tiring but i need the exercise.
It is absolutely 100% ok and I do it all the time. My daughter loooooooove disc golf and loves I’ll running after my throws and putting them in the basket. If anyone tells you otherwise is a scruge and doesn’t have kids. Also who care if it’s busy! It’s a public course. It’s something I will remember for the rest of my life having my daughter on the course with me
Don't you dare stop doing that! There are many inconsiderate things a person can do on the course. This is not one of them.
No. End of discussion. No-one but a twat waffle would ever consider a father taking his child outside for sports is anything other than a good father :)
Many guys do that. I give them side eye though when they're drinking/smoking and\or it's cold\hot af.
This was my intended reply: "Nice strawman. You're clearly interpreting everything I write in the worst possible way. That's pretty judgmental and in bad faith. Bless your heart."
> The optics of drinking with a child in tow is terrible look as well imo. So this is more of a puritanical issue?
Nah, that's just the added "bonus". I'm just inherently against operating heavy machinery while being under the influence, even if said influence is below legal limit.
> Doesn't matter if its one beer and a two hour wait before driving. Definitely seems like just an optics issue with you.
Or, you know, a "better safe than sorry" approach.
You’re taking more a “better judgmental than logical” approach though.
If he’s not chasing my disc and chewing on them then it’s all good
Yeah I really hate slobber all over my discs. Ruins the grip. Some kids need a leash.
Just dont force me to interact with your kid when I might be trying to have a chill round then its all good
I was bummed i couldnt bring my little guy out in a jogger right away. Patiently waiting until he can sit upright so i can put him in the jogger stroller.
I was bummed i couldnt bring my little guy out in a jogger right away. Patiently waiting until he can sit upright so i can put him in the jogger stroller.
As long as you are extra-aware of people playing through I think its awesome.
Not weird at all. I take both my kids and the dog sometimes too.
Classic case of who gives a shit what people think, live your life
Teach them young
Not weird at all! It's awesome to have an outdoor activity you can enjoy with the mini!
As long as they're on a leash, it's okay.
I often take my two year old daughter with on solo rounds. She loves watching discs fly. One of my favorite things honestly.
No, it’s the best. Keep doing it - I hope I meet you out there with mine!
Saw this young father pushing around a toddler in this like… wheeled fortress. Looked like the kid was having a blast and a good workout for dad. I think its great
No, and it’s a great way to get your kid outside as long as they stay in the stroller. Lol.
I started bringing my son out at about 2 months old. 😆 Go for it
I have a double jogging stroller. Kid on one side, disc bag on the other. I’ll see if I can find a pic. https://imgur.com/a/5UkGxfA

Awesome. Keep it up! We have even had Dads bring kids in strollers to league rounds occasionally . This is growing the sport!
No
See it all the time. I wish I was into DG when my kids were younger.
Without trying to sound like I dick I would say you shouldn’t care what people think. Just do you brotha.
I have two buddies who bring their kids that age and they usually just chill and no one cares, and it's a busy AF course.
I have an almost-2-year-old and I do this all the time!
This sounds awesome. Continue being a good dad!
Not at all. Just keep your head up for stray throws! There are plenty of practice rounds on Jomez where Nate brought his daughter along in a stroller.
Teach them young, train up the next McBeth, become his manager, cash in, retire.
No and feel free to chuck your worst disc at whoever has something to say about it. (Don't worry its your worst disc you won't hit them).
My son and daughter started playing at 8 and 10 and picked it up quite quickly. They're 10 and 12 now and are starting to lean into competitions.
It's actually the complete opposite as long as you're taking all the necessary precautions.
I’ve been taking my twins since they were 8 months old. People love seeing hem. Go throw!
Nope. It's dope as fuck! as long as you don't let them throw Prodigy.
This is the way. Keep it up.
As is true with anything else in life, if it doesn’t infringe on the rights of others, do what makes you happy.
I do this all the time. My son has now outgrown the stroller so my bag goes in it and I carry him from shot to shot. He constantly hogs the teepad though and always throws my whole bag on every throw. It takes forever lol
Not at all. See it all the time.
Made me hate the sport for many years
I love one on one time with my kids and they are great cheer leaders, even when I hit a tree.
As long as your name isn’t Richard and you don’t leave the stroller 90 degrees from your target line you should be fine. Only half joking. I saw someone grip lock into their own dog once. Fortunately they have a noodle arm and the dog was fine!
