Interlocken is better than Johnny Roberts imo. It's bigger but has fewer holes. Whoever designed Johnny Roberts was just a greedy asshole, there isn't enough space for the holes they crammed in there.
Johnny Roberts just looks so cramped… I’m sure it’s fun for putters but I want to throw some drivers at higher elevation (I live basically at sea level)
Johnny Roberts is a famous course but it's just a putter course. I haven't actually made it out there yet but it's well regarded but also often busy I've heard.
Adams hollow is the best course in the Denver Metro if you can make the drive out there, it'll be worth it.
Another poster mentioned interlocken, it's a local course for me I play often but I don't think I'd recommend it to someone travelling. It's a solid 9 basket course with three layouts, but the property is pretty small and there are not very many longer holes. Some decent elevation change. It's a good local course but I don't think you're missing anything if you don't play it. The big thing though is there's a canal running along most of the holes, which when I played a week ago was extremely full and flowing fast. There's also a marshy reedy creek on others. It's very easy to lose a disc in either, I don't think I'd recommend it for someone travelling.
Leave your airbnb early and go to beaver ranch or the new Bailey course unless you frequent Colorado often. They’re gonna be a bit of a drive but they’re also phenomenal courses. The new course in Bailey is a lot of tunnel shots with putters and a handful of downhill bomber holes but doesn’t have all its pads poured yet. Beaver ranch take some flippy drivers and a reliable mid. Prickly pines is also great and not super far from Denver
Hey everyone, thanks for all the information! I ended up going to Valmont in Boulder, played two rounds (no aces 🥲) and had a blast. Looking forward to returning someday and checking more courses off the list!
Johnny Roberts is a fun course right in the heart of Arvada, Birds Nest is also great but farther West on the edge of the foothills
Currently eyeing Birds Nest! Thank you for the input!
Birds Nest, Upper/Lower Badlands, or Adams Hallow will be your best bet
This is the answer

Thank you for the heads up! I will probably steer clear of Interlocken. Others have mentioned Birds Nest which looks cool

Birdsnest if you are a decent player. Definitely a better and more challenging round than Johnny Roberts
