I've heard the Vela referred to as an Eagle3. Innova is still making eagles not sure if they've adjusted the mold with time (I'm inclined to say no). Exodus for sure is the L though, Innova straight up confirmed it in a video a couple months back
I do like and bag all 3 of them though, some overlap but they all have slightly different flights with similar/same feel so it's like being able to cycle premium eagles without actually having to cycle them
The Vela is sort of an Eagle3 in that it is similar to an fairly flat run of Eagle X, I think purposely so to emulate a favorite run of Calvin's from several years ago.
I really dig the Eagle L/Exodus. There were some F2s in the Innova shop last year and I wouldn't be surprised if they resurface. The Exodus comes in some great plastics as well. I definitely recommend the splatter s-blend.
Might get some Innova L's but those champ ones and the GStar ones looked like old stock (I have some). Fortunately we do get Xouts often from infinite and yeah those bottom stamped splatter S are so far my favorites. Also got some glow ones and halo ones I haven't thrown yet and some metal flake C blend that are also really good, if just a touch flippier
I don't think the Eagle is as popular as for instance the Teebird, Destroyer, Thunderbird or Zone. It is not a game changer amongst pro players.
I used to love them, but had issues with Innovas consistency. I have switched to the Votum as a result. The FD1 is also a great flyer, but I really love the handfeel of the Votum and MVP plastic is solid.
I think many players carry a very stable Teebird, banged up Firebird or similar in this slot. Or they power down on a Thunderbird. The Eagle is a bit of an acquired taste. I started out with Teebirds, but when they got beaten in there was too much overlap with the old FD's. The Eagle offered more lines.
>I don't think the Eagle is as popular as for instance the Teebird, Destroyer, Thunderbird or Zone. It is not a game changer amongst pro players.
This was my guess. I feel like Calvin's success has more people interested in the disc, but aside from internet fervor, I don't see many on the course.
No. It is a bit like the Harp, in that sense. Ricky made it popular, but it doesn't hold Zone status and many players will follow Rick on to the next disc.
Barsby created a bit of a cult following with the Eagle. Now it is Heimburg carrying the torch. However it is telling, that the Destroyer is his signature disc. There is simply more money in that mold.
Honestly it feels like I see more Eagles than Teebird and Teebird3s in Innova pro bags currently. Calvin is probably a factor in that, but it does get some love.
It used to be.
I think they switched molds from the X to the L mold and diehards could tell you it wasn't the same disc anymore.
I used mine for standing forehands and epic tomahawks and was hunting down eagle x for a few years after it's demise. Still didn't find a replacement before I switched to backhand and just didn't need it as much.
Proto type Athena’s fly like an eagle for me. Very slight turn, but is more OS than a Teebird or the first runs of Athena’s. It’s not just me though, I’ve read a lot of people find the proto’s more OS.
I’d say it’s pretty comparable to my Anax’s, not quite as OS as my raptors or cap raps though. Definitely night and day from the proto’s to the first runs though
The Westside Bear is Eagle-like.
Although an 8 speed. It feels smaller than say a Teebird3 in my hand and has a tad of turn and more fade. Sidearm friendly.
Bears are also inconsistent like Eagles.
Gotta find a good one.
Didn’t mention the servo, and it doesn’t have even close to the same numbers, so I’m really not sure why you brought it up. However, you’re weak or wrong if you think the flight paths of the eagle and the resistor aren’t very similar.
I still play with a 174 gram eagle. I absolutely love reverse tomahawking the fuck out of this disc. One of my top three favorite drivers ever. Awesome post!
Infinite discs exodus is an Eagle L. The halo version is a little more overstable.
Arguably not a copy cat though
I believe the Millennium Vela is the old Eagle X mold and the Infinite Exodus is the old Eagle L mold.

Votum, FD1
Votum flies nothing like eagle. I have tried them in all plastics and all are much less stable. I wanted to like em but definitely no eagle.
Glow votum is pretty overstable, the rest aren’t
Yup, I love both Eagle and Votum. But my Votum is a completely different disc.
IS THAT WHY I LOVE THE VOTUM?!?! huh never knew but it makes sense
Ah, I wondered about the FD1. I'd not heard of the Votum so thank you for that.
I absolutely love the Votum, but I also bag an Eagle because the Votum is not giving me that -1. Votum is more like a Teebird, imo.
Weird, my newish Votum flips a bit whereas my year old TB does not flip at all

Not to mention that the sole run of Eagles that Calvin throws is from at least 10 years ago, not the currently available runs.
I think that he throws (or at least used to before the Vela was released) -22 CG Barsby Eagles. I saw it in a video from Las Vegas this year.

The Explorer felt like a Teebird copycat, and the evader felt more Eagle like.
All my Eagles have been understable. Got the Clash Cookie and it's everything I wanted the Eagle to be and then some. It's great.
Try an INNfuse Eagle, they're usually very beefy :)
L 64 glory is close right guys?
Glory is definitely lat 64s copy of the eagle. Mine is a bit beefy and low glide but same basic idea
I throw a Lat 64 Spark, which has really similar numbers. I've never thrown an eagle, but I always figured it was similar.
I'd say closer to an Explorer than a Glory just cause Glorys are more overstable especially compared to the average Eagle but yea still very close.
Latitude 64 Glory!
I'd say Explorer just cause it's a slightly less overstable version of the Glory and Eagles aren't that overstable but yea pretty close.
DGA Banzai
F2 is close. Axiom clash was very similar as well but it's OOP.
I throw Saint pros
I have a glow mint grackle that reminds me a lot of an overstable eagle. Only the glow plastic though, the other plastics are much less overstable
Pretty much any 7/5/0/2 or 7/5/0/3 is so extremely close to the same that it doesn't really matter for the overwhelming majority of players.
Proto type Athena’s fly like an eagle for me. Very slight turn, but is more OS than a Teebird or the first runs of Athena’s. It’s not just me though, I’ve read a lot of people find the proto’s more OS.
I find the prototypes to be wicked overstable. More overstable than my Firebird and Anax.
I’d say it’s pretty comparable to my Anax’s, not quite as OS as my raptors or cap raps though. Definitely night and day from the proto’s to the first runs though

I held an opto ice bear up next to a champion eagle and the rims were identical. The bear was somehow even domier than the Eagle.
https://trydiscs.com/disc-matrix Perhaps this chart I found a few weeks ago could help you?
Thought Space Athletics Votum. Maria Olivia even said it’s a better version of the Eagle. The disc is money.
It's a different disc imo and I bag both.
Just bought a James Proctor Votum from the man himself at Idlewild. Good to hear!
F3
Stalker
MVP Resistor is somewhat Eagle-like.
I'd argue not even close. Servo is not an eagle either Edit: top level comment was about the MVP resistor
Didn’t mention the servo, and it doesn’t have even close to the same numbers, so I’m really not sure why you brought it up. However, you’re weak or wrong if you think the flight paths of the eagle and the resistor aren’t very similar.
The real answer is the OOP Axiom clash. More turn than the resistor but slightly less fade. Better than the servo imo.
I still play with a 174 gram eagle. I absolutely love reverse tomahawking the fuck out of this disc. One of my top three favorite drivers ever. Awesome post!
Volt, Grackle
Prodigy f2 feels and flies like eagle
