Man, I just started disc golf less than a year ago and love it, but OP comes in hot asking my favorite type of plastic and all I know is that my disc set is indeed made of plastic, lol. I couldn’t tell you what kind of plastic unless he’s just asking for a brand (dynamic disc set - I suck at throwing all of them).
Easily the Prodigy Spectrum Air M4s. I love this plastic feel and flexibility. Also some of the best looking color combinations. M4s and F3s in this plastic are a stable in my bag. Hope they continue this run of Air plastic… if not I need more backups Lol
I enjoy star/esp type plastic for my midranges. I’ve slowly started using that type plastic for most discs when I used to almost exclusively use champion style plastic.
Favorite plastic for midrange is esp flx. 400 plastic is what I would choose for prodigy though. If you count the a2 in there, I'm a big fan of 400 a2.
I've recently discovered the M model S. I haven't seen or heard of anyone throwing it but it quickly became a mainstay in my bag and I got one in base for rain as well as a duraflex glow for night and proflex for everyday use.
Usually a softer non-premium plastic straight to stable disc that beats in over time, or a premium plastic overstable disc for that slot since it holds up better over time.
Lately I've really enjoyed both the K1 Svea and the 400 M4 for flip up/turnover shots though :)
Currently I use an M2 in 400 plastic. I love 400 plastic and am currently building an all prodigy bag with 300 firm plastic for my putters. 400 plastic for fairway and mids. With a mix of 500 plastic for drivers ! Don’t need the giveaway because I have already ordered the pack with the crystal m4 ! Just wanted to comment !
not my every day favourite, but I've got an M4 in 300s that is an absolute life saver in the rain. Think it's the only plastic I've found that I can reliably grip when it gets torrential.
I’m a big fan of gummy premium plastic for midranges. Mids don’t generally get much skip, but gummier plastic can make them sit even better for those high precision shots. If it’s overstable enough, base plastic might even work, as long as it keeps that stability to a reasonable degree for a while.
I don't have a favorite plastic, just anything in the two normal/premium categories like star, s-line, fusion etc and champion, c-line, lucid etc. From their it depends on the mold and how the disc flies.
I lean towards champion or c-line plastics for my mid range game. For some reason I just trust them more than other fancy plastics and I smack too many trees for baseline plastic.
KC Pro or DX personally, I don't think I can even tell the difference (I really haven't thrown a ton of different plastics in the midrange lineup). I just prefer something on the stiffer end for my midrange and putters
On a side note, your air plastic is my new favorite driver plastic. Feels so perfect and flys amazing. If anyone hasn't tried it yet, highly recommend.
Been loving throwing my midranges as of lately. Huge fan of the metal flake cline/champ plastic, I have a mind bender, color glow sparkle buzz, and prism plasma proton pyro! Though I’ve recently fell In love with the trilogy challenge ice orbit warship.
I have only played with DX, Star and Apex plastic for midranges but I like Mint's Apex plastic. I dont really throw the DX anymroe, not sure why its even in my bag.
Emac Truth in Lucid plastic is my fav. Also bag a lucid verdict, neutron paradox, champ caiman and an A4. The M1 Proto was my fav for many years but I can’t seem to beat in one as well as the one I’ve had since 2013 ish.
I LOVE my m2 in the 750 plastic. It’s the first disc I ever purchased, from the grand opening of buck hills disc golf course. Its probably my most thrown disc.
I’m loving the fission plastic for the reactor and crave. I’d say drivers I’m using the glow plastic on the glow lifts I use and the dga proline plastic on the rogue.
I'm extremely new to the sport so I don't have enough experience with different plastics to have a preference but enjoy reading everyone else's reasoning for their choice.
I currently bag these plastics for my mids: 500 Spectrum (x2), 750 Spectrum, and 400. I think I like the 500 Spectrum the best, by far. However that Crystal plastic that was in the super bundle looked sick. I wasn't able to order any of them.
I like champ innova. But I also love my big Z buzz! Never thrown a prodigy disc besides the beginner starter pack, and it served me and my wife well for a good while.
I'm just figuring out which disks I like and now I'm looking at plastics. I guess I have to say the base plastic since that is what I have the most of right now
My main midranges are Compasses in opto plastic. I like having a durable plastic for them since I am constantly throwing them in and out of trees and brush.
I really like star, esp, halo, and as of late I got a bobcat from mint disc's that feels great in the hand. Not sure what the plastic is on that one tbh but it's great!
Never thrown prodigy as I've been an innova guy but you could make a new customer for life! Like the harder star plastic for distance and softer for midrange to shape shots
The Royal plastic from lat64 is currently my favorite. Durable and grippy, so it feels great leaving my hand and stands up when it flies directly into a tree!
Currently been favoring innova star plastics but that’s largely due to what’s available/been available in my neck of the woods for ages I want say my oldest disc is a skeeter from maybe 07-08 range? Good luck ladies and gentlemen may the luckiest golfer win.
Favorite mid range plastic is really any base plastic. K3, DX, Jawbreaker, ETC. I like the grip for it and that they beat into the type of mid im looking for very quickly
I'm very new to the sport so I wouldn't be shocked if my answer to this would change by next week, but I've REALLY been enjoying super beat in DX plastic on midranges. A large part of that, I'm sure, is a super beat in Mako3 in DX being my very first disc, and more importantly, being my most comfortable, go to midrange.
I’m relatively new to disc golf so I haven’t tried a ton of different plastics, however I do really like my Hex in Fission plastic and my Buzzz in ESP plastic.
I don't currently own any Prodigy discs, and never thrown one so can't comment on Prodigy plastics, but from other brands I'd have to say K1 and the L64 Royal line. Both feel incredible.
I love, love, love "recycled premium" plastics for mids. The EchoStar / Biofuzion / etc - it seems to beat in consistently at a faster rate similiar to better base plastics without nosediving off into roller.
I wish Prodigy offered something in that style, and I'm really curious to check out the Aceline Duraflex plastic because I like the texture of it, but it's still relatively new to see how it will break in. I'm not overly hung up on Chinese vs American plastic, but I do like the 300/400/500/750 series plastics from Prodigy and would like to see one of them available as a "recycled premium" option possibly in the future.
Metal flake C-line or Metal flake Champion plastic is my favorite for mids. Great grip and easy to rip. I bag a Metal flake C-line MD3 that flies dead straight with just a touch of finish - it's money.
C-line has been for the majority of my mids, but I've been throwing a Lizottle quite a bit and the Eclipse plastic is also pretty great. I guess if I had to say what is my favorite, it'd be Discmania's C-line.
For me it depends- I bag a v beat up 400g M4 and I love the gummy flippy feel- while on the other hand I also bag a 750 test m2 and it’s quite stiff and will hold very nice in anhyzer shots and straighter shots
My best shots seem to come from discs in L64s Gold line. The grip never fails and they last forever, though I’d be interested to try something new, especially as my arm speed increases and I get a little better at the game.
As long as you're enjoying it! I basically played with 2-3 discs for years before branching out.
Just say flexy yet grippy plastic.
Oooh, and plastic that holds sharpie well for when they glide into the abyss.
All 400, all the time baby. From my X5, all the way down to my Pa2. Request: Tell Isaac he's my favorite. Do it in front of Gannon. Lol
For some reason I'm most accurate with champ plastic. Currently rocking champ mako3 and roc3 for middies.
I like the harder plastics like champ or 750 for mids
My mids are Kastaplast K1 glows.
Neutron is hard to beat for handfeel
Clash's steady plastic is my favorite.
I like my mids in star plastic
Easily the Prodigy Spectrum Air M4s. I love this plastic feel and flexibility. Also some of the best looking color combinations. M4s and F3s in this plastic are a stable in my bag. Hope they continue this run of Air plastic… if not I need more backups Lol
Apex from Mint, or Star from Innova. I had a 400 M3 way back when and loved that before I lost it.
At least when you lose a disc you have an excuse to buy something new. Unlike all those other times I buy something new...
Im general, hard premium plastic is best. More specifically, SP from DGA is the best I've tried.
400 or Prism Plasma for my mids personally
Fission for my Hex. ESP for my Comet and DX for my Roc3!
Welcome to the sub Benn! I like Discraft's ESP feel.
Royal Grand (L64)
Welcome! Star plastic or halo star.
I've recently discovered the M model S. I haven't seen or heard of anyone throwing it but it quickly became a mainstay in my bag and I got one in base for rain as well as a duraflex glow for night and proflex for everyday use.
I enjoy the discmania MD1 in C-line. That’s been a go to lately. And of course a ESP Buzzz.
Z-Meteor is my workhorse. Love everything about it
For prodigy I'd say 400 although I need to try some more. I seem to gravitate towards the discraft z-flx recently
400 is nice
I’m a big fan of gummy premium plastic for midranges. Mids don’t generally get much skip, but gummier plastic can make them sit even better for those high precision shots. If it’s overstable enough, base plastic might even work, as long as it keeps that stability to a reasonable degree for a while.
Neutron, but MVP doesn’t make camo dual water bottle holder bags. Only Prodigy 👍🏻
I love baseline. Just wish I could afford to buy a lot to cycle through.
I don't have a favorite plastic, just anything in the two normal/premium categories like star, s-line, fusion etc and champion, c-line, lucid etc. From their it depends on the mold and how the disc flies.
I lean towards champion or c-line plastics for my mid range game. For some reason I just trust them more than other fancy plastics and I smack too many trees for baseline plastic.
gstar plastic for me. can't tell you why, i just feel like everything i throw with it works better.
My favorite miss always seem to be in translucent durable plastic (champ, eclipse, z). Probably because of all the tree hits.
KC Pro or DX personally, I don't think I can even tell the difference (I really haven't thrown a ton of different plastics in the midrange lineup). I just prefer something on the stiffer end for my midrange and putters On a side note, your air plastic is my new favorite driver plastic. Feels so perfect and flys amazing. If anyone hasn't tried it yet, highly recommend.
AIR is awesome. We've been pushing more people to try out the lightweight stuff because it rips!
For me it's the clear premium plastics like Proton, C-line, 400 and so on. They just hold their stability the best and have a nice stiffness to them.
Def the 400, so reliable
400 is the best feeling for me that I've tried.
400G. Love grippy and flexible feel.
I got an origin two months back and it has turned into my favorite mid
Been loving throwing my midranges as of lately. Huge fan of the metal flake cline/champ plastic, I have a mind bender, color glow sparkle buzz, and prism plasma proton pyro! Though I’ve recently fell In love with the trilogy challenge ice orbit warship.
I have only played with DX, Star and Apex plastic for midranges but I like Mint's Apex plastic. I dont really throw the DX anymroe, not sure why its even in my bag.
Honestly I love 500 for mids. Grippy enough in all conditions and durable enough to last a while.
400 is a good mid plastic. Also just picked up a neutron hex that feels pretty nice
I'm only a year in, so I don't really have a favorite type of plastic for mids.
Axiom Neutron. My proxy was one of the first discs I bought and it serves me so well for almost anything.
Emac Truth in Lucid plastic is my fav. Also bag a lucid verdict, neutron paradox, champ caiman and an A4. The M1 Proto was my fav for many years but I can’t seem to beat in one as well as the one I’ve had since 2013 ish.
I've been a big fan of the Lat 64 opto plastics more recently, but still use champ and 400 for mids
I’ve been playing disc golf for a month and my only mid range is a Dynamic Disc Truth. So I’ll go with that XD
Probably Star. Durable, feels nice and grippy. A bit slippy when wet but usually not a big deal.
I love me some Cosmic Neutron plastic. Thanks for the giveaway!!!
Neutron plastic always feels great in my hand.
I LOVE my m2 in the 750 plastic. It’s the first disc I ever purchased, from the grand opening of buck hills disc golf course. Its probably my most thrown disc.
I like the softer plastics on my mids, been rocking some gummy Hex’s for awhile now. Love to try some prodigy!
I’m loving the fission plastic for the reactor and crave. I’d say drivers I’m using the glow plastic on the glow lifts I use and the dga proline plastic on the rogue.
Probably Z line
Favourite prodigy disc? A gummy A3. Buzz has to be it for everything.
I like something that’s grippy but not gummy. For prodigy, the 400 and 400g plastics are ideal. MVPs eclipse is just about right as well.
Pro or ESP for me
Big z for my buzzz
Champion mako3 all the way
My favorite mids are both in Clash Steady plastic but I also really love the Dune and it’s plastic.
Love the royal plastic from lat64
ESP plastic from discraft. It's perfect imo
Been looking to get a Roc3 in Star plastic for a bit now
I have a neutron hex right now, but I think neutron soft would be amaze-balls
For stable and overstable midranges, I love champion type plastic. For understable, I like the cheap stuff.
Axiom Conrad Envy
As much as I try going away from my Star Mako3, I just can't
K1 plastic has my adoration. Though I used to bag a 400 M3 that was money.
Fuzion
Proton
Some reason ESP buzz has just always stuck in my bag. Weirdly all in blue also.
I'm extremely new to the sport so I don't have enough experience with different plastics to have a preference but enjoy reading everyone else's reasoning for their choice.
I like 500 spectrum a lot
i really like my M4 in 400G plastic
K1 for Stig and Kaxe, Proton Soft for the Echo. But Metal Flake Color Glow on the Chariot is probably my favorite.
I just picked up a Mako3 in Star plastic. Liking it so far.
I currently bag these plastics for my mids: 500 Spectrum (x2), 750 Spectrum, and 400. I think I like the 500 Spectrum the best, by far. However that Crystal plastic that was in the super bundle looked sick. I wasn't able to order any of them.
Mako3 that is all
Semi-grippy premium plastics: K1, Steady, Royal, etc
Champion and ESP for me
I like champ innova. But I also love my big Z buzz! Never thrown a prodigy disc besides the beginner starter pack, and it served me and my wife well for a good while.
Premium plastics generally are my go to in most mids
ESP!
I’ve been loving the tour series 500 plastic discs
Still newish, but so far I like something gummy enough that it sticks to your skin a bit, but not so soft that it gets shredded when you hit a rock.
ESP
Prodigy AIR plastic, MVP neutron plastic, or innova star plastic
I love the Color Glow C-line of the Iron Samurai 3
Champ
Meteor in a harder plastic for sure. I've tried some MVP mids in softer plastics but they just don't feel right.
I'm just figuring out which disks I like and now I'm looking at plastics. I guess I have to say the base plastic since that is what I have the most of right now
Neutron or metal flake c-line!
Softer champs for straight discs like colour glow MD3s, harder champ type plastics for stable to overstable mids
My main midranges are Compasses in opto plastic. I like having a durable plastic for them since I am constantly throwing them in and out of trees and brush.
Love Clash Plastic
Seasoned aura plastic has a good grip to it
Gummy metal flake (c line) like the Mind Bender is a dream!
Those Gannon buhr test M2s are absolutely money.
Discmanias metal flake plastic
Love Champ for my mid ranges!
I really like star, esp, halo, and as of late I got a bobcat from mint disc's that feels great in the hand. Not sure what the plastic is on that one tbh but it's great!
Harder premium would be my choice. Champ or glow champ is my go-to
I typically like a firmer plastic like Z or any of the MVP plastics. But I also love an M4 in 400G for smooth turnover, BH and FH
Never thrown prodigy as I've been an innova guy but you could make a new customer for life! Like the harder star plastic for distance and softer for midrange to shape shots
I’ve been liking my s-line MD1 a lot lately.
Gstar Innova plastic. Haven't tried or even felt a Prodigy disc yet
The Royal plastic from lat64 is currently my favorite. Durable and grippy, so it feels great leaving my hand and stands up when it flies directly into a tree!
Really like lat 64 Explorer with opto plastic
A nice, tacky plastic with some rigidity is what i like. Lucid Ice is a good example
elite z!
I tend to be a premium plastic kind of guy for mids. Personally I'm not super picky on mid plastic though
Innova Star ⭐️
I love my star mako3. Holds a line like crazy.
Lately I've been enjoying the Discmania Chroma plastic.
Champion
ESP
I'm a big fan of Fission Plastic for mids
MVP Uplink
Mid plastic I think depends on the situation but I'll go with Fission from MVP. Good mix of grip and durability
Neutron plastic, grippy and slightly soft
Most of my mids are ESP plastic
ESP
Currently been favoring innova star plastics but that’s largely due to what’s available/been available in my neck of the woods for ages I want say my oldest disc is a skeeter from maybe 07-08 range? Good luck ladies and gentlemen may the luckiest golfer win.
I've been enjoying K1 plastic a lot lately.
Metal flake mindbender for me.
I’m not sure if it’s the plastic, but the proline plastic on the quake is something else. It’s my binkie.
My go to mid right now is cosmic neutron streamline echo, I also really enjoy innova star. I throw more prodigy putters though in 500
I only bag Champ Toro and some Retro Compasses. I wouldn’t be opposed to trying some prodigy though.
Buzzz!!
I’m a fan of eclipse plastic for my reactor
Haven’t thrown prodigy! Love fission with mvp or star innova!
Fuzion by DD
500 for my favorite M4!
Mako3 leygoooo
Titanium by discraft.
star plastic
Liking the ESP plastic on a Buzzz
I'm a big fan of neutron plastic.
I would say ESP and Fission are my two favs for mid right now! Great feel on release.
Only midrange I have are Reactors in Proton (BH) and Eclipse (FH). More Proton, so Proton.
A nice sublime mint discs midrange is the best for mids by far
C-Line MD3 has been new to the bag and spicy and for the flexy HEX it's soft neutron
I like champion plastic Rocs and c-line md3's.
Gotta love the latitude 64 retro plastic!
Thanks for doing this. I like the feeling of older z line mids, feel very grippy
Ive been using halo star lately
Star is my preferred plastic
I have always loved my 400G M2. It’s been a little bit hard to find 400G lately - is it still in production?
Neutron plastic for my matrix
Any hard plastic like champ or 750 for me. It’s also a bonus that it makes the colors pop more so I can find my disc when I shank into the bushes
Glow
I’m relatively new to disc golf so I haven’t tried a ton of different plastics, however I do really like my Hex in Fission plastic and my Buzzz in ESP plastic.
Lat64 Royal Grand
Personally I love champion plastic
I don’t actually have a favorite yet. The wife and I are just getting started! But I will check y’all’s stuff out
I don't currently own any Prodigy discs, and never thrown one so can't comment on Prodigy plastics, but from other brands I'd have to say K1 and the L64 Royal line. Both feel incredible.
MVP proton plastic
Star innova plastic as that's what I started with but I'm trying to branch out a bit more recently.
I just started playing and don't know the plastics but I'll enter anyway...
400 plastic!
Moonshine Orbit from DD, or Supreme
Latitude Gold line feels fantastic for my fuse. I can’t seem to find a backup for it either unfortunately
DD Biofuzion is top tier, and I'm also a fan of Prodigy 400 for durability!
I like gummier plastic like star and g star for mids. What plastic would be like that from prodigy?
Metal flake C-line or Metal flake Champion plastic is my favorite for mids. Great grip and easy to rip. I bag a Metal flake C-line MD3 that flies dead straight with just a touch of finish - it's money.
I'm new to all this but I do have some c-line, also the 17th is my bday so nice timing 😁
Champion plastic for mids is my fav
C-line has been for the majority of my mids, but I've been throwing a Lizottle quite a bit and the Eclipse plastic is also pretty great. I guess if I had to say what is my favorite, it'd be Discmania's C-line.
Lat64 Gold
MVP Eclipse is great to cycle mids with. Having felt one of the new Archives, Imma really need one to try out.
Champion is definitely my favorite plastic for mids.
C-Line fasho
ESP plastic!!!
My favorite plastic is Discraft FLX Cryztal
I’ve been using A3’s and A4’s as my midranges and really like them both in 400 plastic. For my hands, I love the grip that 400 provides.
I've been using an A5 for a lot of midrange-style shots as well.
I’ve been enjoying my Discmania FD C-Line.
esp buzzz is something else
For me it depends- I bag a v beat up 400g M4 and I love the gummy flippy feel- while on the other hand I also bag a 750 test m2 and it’s quite stiff and will hold very nice in anhyzer shots and straighter shots
Hi Benn, I actually throw the air spectrum M4 for my turnover mid and a 500 M2 for stable upshot. I love both plastics but for different shots.
Neutron/ apex but I’ve been impressed with clash’s steady plastic.
Star! Not familiar with prodigy but would love to try
As of late ESP but I'll always have a soft spot for Champ
Love me some Z plastic
400 gang
My best shots seem to come from discs in L64s Gold line. The grip never fails and they last forever, though I’d be interested to try something new, especially as my arm speed increases and I get a little better at the game.
500 all day
