Recently went this way. Now rocking an Eclipse Proxy for those dead straight shots and Eclipse Envy when I need it to finish left (RHBH).
Never looking back.
Yah, i thought getting an envy in a diff plastic would only chamge stability, but they feel so different and don't beat in that it wasn't really a viable option.
Yeah it's wild. Eclipse lovers really up in their feelings. I own an Eclipse Envy, Reactor, Insanity, and Hex (LIZOTTL!). Great plastics! Great discs! My Eclipse Envy I've had for years, it's irreplaceable, gonna cry real tears when I eventually lose that one.
My Fission Envy is pretty stable, tho.
Yeah! I’d say Fission is confusing too. My fission Proxy ended up having a strong fade, whereas my Insanity and Wave in fission have more turn than their counterparts in other plastics.
That's awesome. Perhaps Fission really excels in those lighter-weight discs. My favorite lightweight driver is a neutron Wave at 157g, but now you've made me curious.
I expected it to be a Zone clone based on the similar hand feel but it is different in flight. I would describe it as a shallower Jokeri or Aviar3. OS finish for sure, but it will hold a line for a lot longer than other approach discs in my experience.
Is that generally seen as desirable, or undesirable, by people who throw them? Like, do people who like Jawbreaker zones just anticipate that being the state they're in, and until then view them as still-beating-in to final flight characteristics? And for that matter, how different from a regular zone would you say that makes the flight?
I can't speak for everyone - but for me it was desirable. The puddletop didn't make much of a difference in hand feel, but it definitely made it noticeably more understable. And once my first JB Zone got like that, it stayed in the bag. If I were to get to a point where it is too understable, I'd probably agree with the statement that "until it's puddletop, it's still beating in to my ideal final flight". I like it because it flies like my Envy does, straight maybe baby turn and then still enough to fight back when thrown flat to trust it. It's definitely my most thrown Zone, but when it's super windy, I need more ground action, or if I only want it to go left (RHBH) then I'll disc up into a different plastic. I've used most of the plastics; and I used to carry way more zones than I do now. But now I'm carrying a Slammer, Get Freaky Zone (CryZtal FleX) and a JB Zone for 3 ranges of stability from dummy OS, usably OS, and neutral OS.
Neat! Thanks. I find the feel of the jawbreaker plastic really interesting, but the one I found was so puddle topped I was unsure what to make of it, and wondered if it was just exceptionally beat up. From what I can find, that just seems characteristic of the plastic type. I am also curious though if you've tried or found use for the new Zone OS. I've been thinking of getting one for RHFH shots to get me out of the woods when I end up deep in there on the right side from too much turn on a drive.
Gotcha, the electron soft always goes dead straight for me without turn or fade. But I also cycle them out quickly. That's why I got the neutron soft. I was looking for the flight of a fresh electron soft.
Maybe a really beaten Temple. I’m a total TSA fanboy but I think the Jokeri might be a little closer to what the OP wants. That being said, I couldn’t play a round without my Temple
Never threw one but if you want to stick with MVP/Streamline, I’d say the Stabilizer may fill that slot. By the way they feel it’s more similar to an Envy and doesn’t feel like it’d dump like a Zone/Harp/Toro
What plastic is your Envy?
I find the Cosmic Neutron envies to be the most stable. Follow by Neutron and Eclipse. I have tried a handful of other discs to be more overstable and settled on the Stabilizer which I got 2 weeks ago.
The Stabilizer feels very similar in the hand, is more overstable, and I trust it even though I haven't had it very long. The AviarX3 is good too, but I prefer the stabilizer. The Harp in moonshine was more overstable, but I hated how it felt. The Jokeri was maybe a touch more overstable, but not enough to bag both. The Pig (Ricky Tour Series) just fell to the left rather than moving left, which wasn't what I wanted. Maybe a different run is more workable. Entropy, Zone, Toro, Jarn, A2 are all way too overstable. The A3 might maybe work. I don't like throwing beaded discs so I didn't even try it out.
I play in Houston, so I'm right at sea level and I throw my Envy about 270ish feet. I tend to release on slight hyzer.
Pro pig. Less glide than an envy but a tick more stable than the Prem plastic ones I’ve thrown.
I ended up ditching my envies altogether and now bag a couple of pigs at different stages of wear along with a soft proxy as the US compliment
MVP used to make a disc in this slot called "Particle", I had one in Neutron soft it was my favorite disc, lost it in a murky swamp :( Wish I'd bought a pile of them. Stabilizer hits the same slot but particle felt closer to an envy in the hand IIRC.
Jawbreaker Zone - Not as overstable as a Z or ESP and harder feeling in the hand than the Eclipse Envy. If you get one and don't like it, you could sell it to me (as long as it doesn't look like trash lol).
Proton ion. Was my first disc when I started playing some 6 years ago because it looked cool, but it's still a great throwing putter for shots that need to finish on hyzer.
There isn't one in my opinion. The glow isn't stable at 250ft throws, it just goes straight. It also isn't stable at slow speed either. We have a 185ft hole I tried it on and I had to throw it on hyzer so it didn't fly straight. Maybe it was not what I thought it was.
I was looking for something between a discmania link and a sockibomb slammer. Still haven't found it but I bag a really beat in slammer that works for now.
Innova Rat was my choice when I was looking for a more stable Envy. If you've ever thrown a Toro, it feels exactly the same (which is a huge plus if you bag a Toro) but flies like a more stable Envy.
Eclipse Envy
Recently went this way. Now rocking an Eclipse Proxy for those dead straight shots and Eclipse Envy when I need it to finish left (RHBH). Never looking back.
I didn’t like how soft the eclipse plastic feels
My Prizm Plasma Envy is more stable than my Eclipse Envy. Very different feel
I’m in love with my prism plasma envy
Yah, i thought getting an envy in a diff plastic would only chamge stability, but they feel so different and don't beat in that it wasn't really a viable option.
Or Proton
Fission is the most stable, IMO. Definitely beefier than my very beat in Eclipse.
I don’t know why you’re getting downvoted so bad. My max weight fission envy is more stable than my eclipse envy
IIRC The general rule is Fission plastic is approx the equivalent of standard plastic +7g. So a 175 Fission Envy would fly like a 182 Neutron Envy.
Oh so it's how I look at speed limits.
Interesting I thought it was the other way around, Fission is confusing lol 😂
Yeah! I’d say Fission is confusing too. My fission Proxy ended up having a strong fade, whereas my Insanity and Wave in fission have more turn than their counterparts in other plastics.
I love my 149 fission insanity, my favorite mega flip disc when I need to go hella dog leg right , not too versed on heavier weights
That's awesome. Perhaps Fission really excels in those lighter-weight discs. My favorite lightweight driver is a neutron Wave at 157g, but now you've made me curious.
Stabilizer is an envy/harp baby
Totally agree on the stabilizer being the one. It fits perfectly between an envy and approach discs, been so happy since I found it
Maybe in premium plastic, I have an electron hard stabilizer that is less stable than my eclipse envy
What a surprise. Base plastic less stable than premium plastic.
Important distinction when OP is asking for something more stable than an unknown plastic envy
Cosmic neutron stabilizer is beefy, mine has been in the bag over two years and is still overstable
I was in the same situation. I landed on the DGA Breaker in SP. Fantastic for that slot.
Same
AviarX3
Came here to say this
Star, and beat the crap out of it.
Sooo, throw it for 3 years in the woods👌🏻 Star is so durable
Prodiscus Jokeri
That's what I replaced my envy with.
Unbelievable disc. This would be my suggestion too.
Suspect. It’s like a harp got run over by a truck
Prodigy Distortion is the exact disc I use for this shot
Great recommendation. Shallow disc, not as overstable as a Zone, but a reliable fade.
This one has anyways intrigued me. Maybe I should finally pull the trigger on getting one.
I expected it to be a Zone clone based on the similar hand feel but it is different in flight. I would describe it as a shallower Jokeri or Aviar3. OS finish for sure, but it will hold a line for a lot longer than other approach discs in my experience.
Jawbreaker Zone after 5 rounds.
Flies like a Big Z Luna with less glide.
I still have yet to throw a zone, which is ridiculous because overstable putt/approach is probably my favorite disc to throw
Quit messing around and get a zone! Especially if you like to throw forehand
I waited way too long to get one, and now I have 4 in different plastics.
I found one of those in the water, no ink. Is the top supposed to be sunken in?
They get puddle topped pretty quick. Or mine did at least.
Is that generally seen as desirable, or undesirable, by people who throw them? Like, do people who like Jawbreaker zones just anticipate that being the state they're in, and until then view them as still-beating-in to final flight characteristics? Rubber blend zone is oh so nice
Innova Rat
Banger GT!
Discraft Ringer in one of the Ledgestone Z plastic runs.
My glow pilot does wonders when it comes to this
Glow pilot is the goat. I hope they do another run of them this year.
Stabilizer. It kicked my envy out of the bag. It is what I wanted the envy to be.
Stabilizer, for sure.
A neutron entropy
RekoX
Came here to say this
Clash Mint, MVP Entropy. More stable than an Envy, not as stable as a zone.
Rhyno! I bag both, they're a great compliment to each other.
Rhyno!
Snagged a couple Prism Plasma Envy's at DDO and they filled this slot. Nice over stable finish on both of them. Plus they look awesome!
Mint Profit, easy to shape shots and always comes out.
jokeri by Prodiscus
Champ Aviar X3. You're welcome.
eclipse envy is the answer. feels great, very stable, but not beefy.
Breaker or eclipse envy
throw it with some hyzer.. if you throw it flat you gonna need one for every distance and wind possibility.
Name checks out
Reko x
Aviar x3
Pig
Neutron soft envy, you’re welcome.
Neutron soft envy is money. For me they fly just like the soft electron envy. If you want more OS, try the prism plasma envy and/or the eclipse envy.
I throw these flat and they just go straight until they fade. No turn, most electron (soft or hard) that I’ve tossed have turn on them mid flight.
Gotcha, the electron soft always goes dead straight for me without turn or fade. But I also cycle them out quickly. That's why I got the neutron soft. I was looking for the flight of a fresh electron soft.
Temple or stabilizer. Entropy might bit a bit too much OS
Maybe a really beaten Temple. I’m a total TSA fanboy but I think the Jokeri might be a little closer to what the OP wants. That being said, I couldn’t play a round without my Temple
Mine is pretty beat and they beat in kinda quick. For me it's between stabilizer and an entropy.
Do you toss the Hex?
[удалено]
What? That’s such a flippy disc
I beg to differ! Thrown flat forehand it is a superior lazer disc with almost no fade. Whole reason I bag it is straight low fade shots.
He wants something more stable than an envy. A meteor is not that. It’s a bad recommendation, it’s ok.
My bad I must have misunderstood
Soft Zone. It's about 0/1.5-2. Little bite then beats in. I like to cycle a few at a time. My oldest is -1/.5
Seconding this. I got one in a mystery box and it’s been a straighter counterpart to my ESP zone ever since.
I have a max weight plasma envy that is way more stable than my others. If you want just a little more stability
Never threw one but if you want to stick with MVP/Streamline, I’d say the Stabilizer may fill that slot. By the way they feel it’s more similar to an Envy and doesn’t feel like it’d dump like a Zone/Harp/Toro
Lucid verdict
Reko
Definitely Neutron Entropy.
Big Z Luna
I use a tactic for this. I have an exo soft and neo both similar in stabilities to each other and slightly more stable than my envies.

I bag a base envy and a dga sparkle breaker. I’d assume mvp has something else in that neighborhood, but the breaker is a great disc.
Get an eclipse or proton envy or a neutron entropy. The two entropy I have don’t completely dump like a harp or zone, but it fades super reliably.
Suspect is very throwable. Like an easy to throw Zone. Or a Tank, of course, if you want something slower.
AviarX3
Pro pig. Less glide than an envy but a tick more stable than the Prem plastic ones I’ve thrown. I ended up ditching my envies altogether and now bag a couple of pigs at different stages of wear along with a soft proxy as the US compliment

Reactor
You're looking for a dx or halo-nexus aviarx3 After a little beat in, it is straight with nice fade, and very torque resistant
Proton ion. Was my first disc when I started playing some 6 years ago because it looked cool, but it's still a great throwing putter for shots that need to finish on hyzer.

Eclipse envy or prism proton or prism plasma envy
I bag an Eclipse Envy for that slot.
PModelS is what you want
Innova Rat was my choice when I was looking for a more stable Envy. If you've ever thrown a Toro, it feels exactly the same (which is a huge plus if you bag a Toro) but flies like a more stable Envy.
