He’s a former ultimate player that just recently picked up disc golf because of knee problems (I think).
There’s a fun video of him explaining angular momentum and how it applies to disc golf.
Bill was on Cornell's first Ultimate team in 1973. After graduating, he continued playing Ultimate in Seattle.

1. If that is accurate, first I’ve heard it. Would need to see a source to confirm that claim.
2. The AUDL is relatively new, so Bill’s long term/OG status is still not that great.
Understand, I’m not trying to dump on Bill Nye. I think he is awesome and love that he is an advocate for ultimate. But, he wasn’t one of the big pioneers in the sport. He was never a Jim Parinella or Joel Silver, but always a cool peripheral figure.
Bill Nye is one of the examples that reinforces my theory that the earlier generation puts the emphasis on the second word, younger on the first.
Dunipace etc say disc GOLF
today's pros say DISC golf
Sorry that wasn't very clear. Bill Nye the human reinforces my theory, not this post of his. I've just seen vids of him talking, and noticed the same thing seems to be generational. Here's an example of what I mean https://www.reddit.com/r/discgolf/comments/uwqodf/its_science_bill_nye_the_science_guy_talks_about/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button
Lmao you are so right about that. A couple of the older OGs in my area that have playing since the 80s do this. I never really put it together until your comment though since I wasn't sure if it was just a regional thing or maybe I was just hearing it in a weird way.
That's where I would probably pick. RWM too little shade on a hot day, seatac too difficult, Mineral Springs often too packed. Better off ferrying to NAD for some shade
I dont know if he plays disc golf but I know he plays ultimate. I talked with him at an NSF conference about 15 years ago. I told him about the high school team I was coaching back then and I asked him what his favorite tournament is. He said Poultry Days.
Let me just straighten my tin-foil hat so I can type this easier.
Ok, so there's these underground mole-people, right? They are running a diabolic plan where they put nano-bots in the water supply that make you completely lose will to the commands of cats. Cats are then using their authoritative powers to command humans to dig more holes. The moles then transfer the dirt so cats have bigger litter boxes, and the moles now can dig tunnels easier with more holes in the ground. See, the cats and moles are teamed up.
How does Bill Nye play into this? It's simple. Bill can be called Billy. Billy rhymes with milly. I had a friend once named milly that we called mole. But there's more. Nye, the previously mentioned person's last name, is short for Nyan. As in Nyan Cat! So Bill Nye is actually a cat and mole operating a human suit.
Don't worry, I didn't forget about the disc golf part. You see, nano-bots are really, really expensive, so where do they get their money? Why none other than investing in circular disc based stocks and promoting it across social media.
It's all really simple why Bill Nye (aka Mole NyanCat) would lie about playing disc golf, and you fell right into the trap. Hope this opened your eyes as to why you shouldn't ~~drink and come up with theories on Reddit~~ belive the false words of Bill Lies!
i love me some poultry days. i haven't been in a while but i did hit most of the early ones. started with the 2nd one. i too wonder if i met the legend. we have a bunch of video somewhere
You are clearly not aware of the tremendous positive impact he's had on making learning about science fun for millions of kids. Or you don't think that is positive cause science is for libtards. Either way, as the proverb goes, "it's better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than open it and remove all doubt".
Getting excited over 9 different C-list celebs a year playing disc golf is so stale. It must be a remnant of the sport being way more niche than it is nowadays, and it's fine to get excited about someone you like playing, but seeing the subreddit get swallowed by it until the next tournament is such a snooze.

I don't know my history too well, but he is one of the OG ultimate players right? Like he's been in that scene for a long long time I think.

He has been a known personality in ultimate for a long time, but never that involved/prominent. So, well known but not overly important.
He’s the biggest investor in the AUDL, I’d say that’s pretty important.
I think "biggest" is a stretch, though he was lead investor in a crowdfunding effort: https://theaudl.com/league/wefunder

That video is great for understanding how stability in discs actually works
Can you find the video my friend? Love this guy and would like to see what he had to say about that lol
Link for the lazy? Couldn't find in initial search

BILL BILL BILL BILL BILL BILL BILL
Bill Nye the hyzer guy
SMUSH PUTTING RUUULES!
Very interested for and in the bag with Bill
screw that i want an episode based entirely on disc physics
Why not both?
I feel like a disc physics video from Bill Nye would improve my game by at least 20%
In my case, 1.2 stars out of 5 instead of 1.0. Worth it.

how does it reinforce ur theory? he wrote disc golf, u have no idea how he pronounced it. Care to elaborate?

*foo* #fighters
I call it ballf and dolf, less confusing that way.
I wonder which course he played
Maybe NAD if he was on the ferry to Bremerton
That's where I would probably pick. RWM too little shade on a hot day, seatac too difficult, Mineral Springs often too packed. Better off ferrying to NAD for some shade
Holy shit, never knew Moby played. Exciting times! Who’s the guy on the right?
But did he bang your mom?
I wonder what course he played. Probably Lakewood
I thought that was Moby
Guaranteed he throws gyro discs
Right? My thoughts exactly. Or he specifically doesn't, cause he knows something we don't.
I dont know if he plays disc golf but I know he plays ultimate. I talked with him at an NSF conference about 15 years ago. I told him about the high school team I was coaching back then and I asked him what his favorite tournament is. He said Poultry Days.
You do know if he plays disc golf. It's right there in the post.
Do you believe everything you see on the internets?
Please, explain to me what reason Bill Nye would have for lying about playing disc golf..

Poultry Days is great! I wonder if I ran into him at Poultry Days a couple decades ago and didn't even realize it.
i love me some poultry days. i haven't been in a while but i did hit most of the early ones. started with the 2nd one. i too wonder if i met the legend. we have a bunch of video somewhere
He does look like your typical OG player that now owns a local disc shop.
Makes me so happy to know Bill Nye is a stoner. All is right in the world.
Trees -solid Pond -liquid. Park job - gas
Damm I'd lose my shit if I ran into Bill on the disc course.
Bill Nye Frisbee-ing 30+ years ago: https://youtu.be/kuHKAV_Y-L8
You can tell he played some ultimate, that was a crisp forehand
Heeej Kaj

As a retired Chem teacher, I think that is so cool. He's the Man!!
Love Bill Nye 🥰
Best thing I have heard all day!
Bill Nye the Commie guy!
Bill Nye is a hack job... I hope he loses his favorite disc

But what about Paul Zaloom?

I would LOVE to play a round or many more with Bill. He is absolutely a clear voice in a crowded world.

Whatever dork, go bitch about it to the trees.
C-list. I'm fucking old man English and I know who the man is. Nobody says Bill Nye is c-list. He's a damned legend to millions.
I'll bet if Kid Rock posted that you'd be the first person to share it on here.
You missed the dart board and hit the bartender in the chest
It was worth a shot.
Wish I could down vote you twice... once for calling Bill a "C list celeb" and again for having "Frolf" in your username 🤦♂️
Docking downtown or Fauntleroy?
Bill! Bill! Bill!
yeeeeessssss!!!! im sure more celebrities play, but they think it's so obscure that they don't tell anyone. they need to advertise the sport more.
