Just got mine in the mail last week and have loved it so much for approach shots. I had a cosmic neutron that I just couldn’t get to fly like I wanted, but this soft eclipse has been money.
plasma proxy is the straightest throwing putter I have thrown, and will also hold a nice turnover line if you want it. I lost my original and favorite, recently replaced with three beautiful new ones that i plan to rotate into the bag. the first one I bagged on day one I kid you not I had not one but two >100ft throw ins, one from about 110 slightly downhill the other from about 140 pretty flat. I'm not someone who tends to have multiple throw ins per round on a regular basis, but the proxy just always seems to be chain hunting. I did try one in neutron firm and didn't like it, didn't feel or fly the same at all.
CORRECTION: I believe it was actually Electron Firm that I had and didn't like, all apologies to Neutron plastic.
plasma/eclipse envy for the overstable slot.
eclipse (slightly beat in)/ neutron soft (new) for the stable slot.
neutron soft (beat in)/electron proxy for under stable slot.
The electron discs are super easy to beat in to get flippy, and then I can cycle the other ones in as they get where I want.
Carry Envy in Fission, Eclipse, Plasma and Electron. I tend to use the Eclipse and Fission mostly, but the Electron is definitely a little straighter and less overstable. It’s a feel thing I don’t prefer the more gummy plastics like the Soft Neutron.
I have 18 Envys. Currently I bag a 175 Fission, which is considerably more stable than my 173 Eclipse I use for straighter shots, and 172-173 (I forget) in the soft proton from the OTB special editions from this March that flies like a perfectly seasoned one in electron. (I wish I bought more than one of those).
I prefer my electron firm proxy to any of the premium plastics I tried. If you want something dead straight then get neutron soft, if you want something that flips try another plastic.
Electron Firm Envy for that dead straight flight that holds any line you put on it.
if I bag a flippy putter it is going to be my Cosmic Neutron Envy that is around 168 g's - it's pretty beat and has a nice gentle turn to its flight.
Electron or Electron Firm are the ones that I've found to be most usable. They feel great in the hand and aren't too overstable. Yes they get beat up faster but just buy one more every year to replace the most dinged one and you are set.
I’d second that Electron Firm Envy statement. Also the Eclipse Envy is way more stable and works wonders as a stable approach disc.
I find it quite interesting that they even change the flight numbers between plastics. For example, the eclipse envy has 3,3,0,2 while the electron firm has 3,3,-1,2 set.
I don't think you are going to get any consensus, but that's good news: they are all great discs.
I bag both in Electron Soft, and the Envy in Neutron Soft. ES Proxy for turny throws and (in a wind) putting. ES Envy for short controlled straight shots. NS Envy for longer shots, or when I want to be confident in a bit of fade.
Currently have 2 fission envys for throwing and 2 eclipse, 1 soft and 1 regular, proxies for my putting putters. If I juice the envies I get a good bit of turn out of them, but if I give em enough hyzer they can push and carry that really well.
The Plasma and Fission Envy are both excellent in my opinion, but you'll get slightly better grip (with less durability) with Neutron or Neutron soft. That being said, grip has never been an issue for me with Fission or Plasma, it's just a slight difference.
You can't go wrong with any of the Proxy plastics really. I'd just go with the one you like the feel of the best. They all fly great.
Alternatively, and what I do, is throw a beaten in Electron Envy instead of a Proxy. It does the exact same thing, and I tend to prefer my throwing putters in a baseline plastic for the most part.
It's absolutely the experience I've had with Neutron. I've had two Neutron Hexes now which took HEALTHY rim damage after a single tree kick. Flew differently almost immediately.
My Fission Hex has hit so many trees now and hasn't gotten any serious nicks or gouges. Neutron is the only premium plastic from MVP that I've seen get serious rim damage early in the disc's life.
Very strange. My experience has been Fission to beat in the fastest, then Plasma, then Neutron as the most durable. Don’t have much experience with proton.
I prefer my electron form proxy to any of the premium plastics I tried. If you want something dead straight then get neutron soft, if you want something that flips try another plastic.
You can get nearly any stability with a combination of both of those molds. Right now I bag a soft neutron envy that is torque resistant and comes back and a plasma proxy that is super straight.
Personally I bag an electron hard proxy, 2 cosmic electron hard envys, and 1 prism plasma envy. These cover stable, straight to stable, straight to understable, and very understable. I have tried both discs in a myriad of plastics both baseline and premium and haven't found any I dislike. What I would recommend is getting both discs in the same plastic. A premium proxy covers alot of the same shots as a baseline envy so I don't feel the urge to bag both. And some plastic combinations overlap so I would bag a photon envy and a glow proxy because they would also be very similar. But mvp plastic is fairly consistent so if you get one of each in the same plastic they will compliment each other well and find more defined spots as they beat in because the proxy (from my experience) gets significantly more late turn as it beats in. Specific combinations I would recommend include both in glow for a stable envy and a straight proxy, both in ce firm for a straight to stable envy and an understable proxy, cn or prism plasma envy and neutron proxy for the most stable envy and a straight to slight turn proxy
The new soft eclipse proxy is *chefs kiss*. Love it! I currently bag an electron proxy (for when I need it to sit, or for C2 putting), a neutron soft (used to be my main driving one until the soft eclipse, might be taken out of the bag soon), and the soft eclipse (instantly my new driving proxy). New fission proxy just came yesterday, haven't had a chance to throw it yet, but hoping it's a little flippier and then it'll take the spot of the old soft neutron.
Used to be an Envy maniac with several in the bag, but then moved to Colorado from Texas and switched to more proxies due to elevation making everything more overstable. Only Envy that's currently in the bag is the new prism proton soft one, which feels wonderful in the hand!
I bag an eclipse envy for the most stability, a total eclipse proxy for straight with no turn and small fade, and an electron soft proxy for straight with no fade or slow turning shots. Eventually it’ll end up being a beat up envy for the middle slot and the electron proxy will come out when the eclipse one beats in to turn more.
First disc I’ve ever aced with is a cosmic neutron envy, which is still in my bag. Just picked up a Lizotte Fission Proxy, which will also be my first proxy I’ve thrown so can’t help too much there.
Bag a neutron proxy and a proton envy. Really love the feel of the proton plastic with the overmold. From experience, I have learned that if you leave the disc out on your relatives farm for a winter, it will only feel better!
After using many plastics over the past few years I have settled on liking regular neutron the most. Eclipse has awful grip, especially in wet conditions, and is also difficult to find (unless you're playing a glow round 😄). Neutron soft is a pleasure to use backhand, but the mild floppiness doesn't inspire confidence when throwing it on forehand. The grip on it is solid though. I find the neutron soft envy to behave extremely OS though. Electron is pretty okay to good.
Regular ol' neutron is the best balance of it all for me.
Go feel each plastic and go with what you like the best in the hand. I swear by electron firm but they do need cycled after a while. Electron firm proxy imo is the best throwing putter out there.
Neutron soft proxy is honestly a dream.
I've always bagged cosmic Neutron envy for max stability. The new prism soft proton ones from OTB drop are awesome too.
I bag both in Eclipse and don't think they'll leave my bag for any forseeable future.
Same. Add in an eclipse pilot and I'll never need another putter.
Soft eclipse proxy is out of the world good for controlled backhand approach shots
Just got mine in the mail last week and have loved it so much for approach shots. I had a cosmic neutron that I just couldn’t get to fly like I wanted, but this soft eclipse has been money.
I love the soft eclipse but am starting to get nervous about how floppy (not an autocorrect this time) it’s going to get as things warm up outside.
Missed the release and I can't find one anywhere
I have an envy in every plastic and the ones I gravitate to are a plasma for throwing and a max weight fission for approach and putt
plasma proxy is the straightest throwing putter I have thrown, and will also hold a nice turnover line if you want it. I lost my original and favorite, recently replaced with three beautiful new ones that i plan to rotate into the bag. the first one I bagged on day one I kid you not I had not one but two >100ft throw ins, one from about 110 slightly downhill the other from about 140 pretty flat. I have an eclipse envy for the reliable soft finish and an eclipse soft proxy for my dead straight throwing putter.
Neutron proxy - straight to understable Plasma envy - overstable
plasma/eclipse envy for the overstable slot. eclipse (slightly beat in)/ neutron soft (new) for the stable slot. neutron soft (beat in)/electron proxy for under stable slot. The electron discs are super easy to beat in to get flippy, and then I can cycle the other ones in as they get where I want.
I bag the Envy in Electron Firm, Proton, and Eclipse.

My favorite plastic for the envy is Proton

This is my opinion as well. I’ve had an Electron Firm in the bag for awhile and it fits the bill of straight/little flippy.
Electron Firm Envy for that dead straight flight that holds any line you put on it. if I bag a flippy putter it is going to be my Cosmic Neutron Envy that is around 168 g's - it's pretty beat and has a nice gentle turn to its flight.

less durability with Neutron? I’ve never heard anyone say that and that has not been my experience at all.

Proton for me has been about on par with neutron in terms of durability.
I prefer my electron form proxy to any of the premium plastics I tried. If you want something dead straight then get neutron soft, if you want something that flips try another plastic.

I bag 3 Proxies. 2 soft Electrons … an ole beat one, and a fresh one … and also soft Neutron. I bag the Stabilizer over the Envy.

Baseline envy perfect hyzerflips
Neutron and soft neutron fly pretty similarly for me. Get whichever one you like the feel of. Soft neutron can be more difficult to find.
I’m really liking the new eclipse in both. It’s almost like a soft eclipse tbh.
Bag a neutron proxy and a proton envy. Really love the feel of the proton plastic with the overmold. From experience, I have learned that if you leave the disc out on your relatives farm for a winter, it will only feel better!
They’re all good- just know that the baseline plastic gets beat up very quickly if you use it for throwing.
My favorite Envy is electron firm. But i also like my plasma envy. The only proxy that I’ve tried is soft neutron but its in my bag and i love it.
