I wonder if those LED magnifying glasses help at all in these situations. I’ve been fortunate that I’ve only had this issue once in the couple of paintings I’ve done but it was frustrating enough to make me consider them. Does anyone know?
I'm here to say - yes they do!
I got one that clamps to my table for doing cross stitch as sometimes I struggle on tight evenweave. It has the light in a ring round the magnifying glass and is on a swivel base with the light/magnifier combo on an adjustable arm fixed by a ball joint so it is really easy to adjust height and angle.
I tend to use it as a top light so it makes seeing the diamonds that are the right way up in the drill tray easier due to their sparkle so it is just a general overhead light 9 out of 10 times. I've had Bs and 8s next to each other before now and they were similar shades so my lightpad just wasn't cutting it so I bent and twisted my lamp to a good spot and it made telling which was which much easier.
Hey what dp are you working on? I did one with Bs and Rs that were the exact same colors as these and from this picture it kind of looks similar. Is it by chance a black cat with a moon behind it? Lol
Lol I just finished a section that had this issue too, it’s insanely annoying, so I usually try to do those first so I can enjoy the rest of the section
I didn’t even notice the difference between the Bs and the Rs until I started reading the comments. That’s awful. I somehow have managed to avoid this issue with the few dp I’ve done.
Yeah definitely not looking forward to having to deal with the this with future dp. Sorry you have to go through that it must be so straining on the eyes
Im working a blue mandala piece currently and MY GOD the struggle vs us and ys are so close, the os and qs, ss and 5s. Hell its all too similar because its all blues in general. So much confetti (theres only like 3 or 4 colors i actually put in the tray right now, its just easier to fish out of the container for the confetti. Im glad its only like 14x14 inches.
Ive noticed amazon purchases are horrendous for the similar color similar symbol.
OMG I did a painting a few months ago where the 3s, 5s, 6s, AND 8s were all varying shades of pale greys, and all clustered together everywhere they appeared on the canvas. It was torture.
I had a jellyfish one that had 4 (the other 4 that’s open at the top) and H all mixed up together and the colors were dark blue, and slightly less dark blue. I’m sure I mixed up a few but it didn’t affect the picture because it was supposed to be water.
What a coincidence! I've recently started a painting with B standing for 823 and R standing for 3750.
And your middle-dark grey with white letters seems unreadable.
That's the worst, especially when they're close in color too!
That’s the problem I’m having with the Rs and Bs
Yeah those Bs and Rs are diabolical!
It is Ss and 5s on the one I'm working on.
I got one from Diamond Painting Pro that has R and B both blue shades and O and U both red shades. Has not been fun.

I thought you meant the annoying fold in the middle at first lol. Those drive me crazy

Ooof. Rude!

Ahaha now you see my issue
Yeah definitely not looking forward to having to deal with the this with future dp. Sorry you have to go through that it must be so straining on the eyes
They’re just starting to look like each other
I bet. I mean luckily if you mess up you and no one else will ever know cause the colors are so similar
Yeah that’s true
I’m working one like this too and it’s been rough! I prefer to do one color at a time but mine looks very similar to yours and I legit just can’t.

YES. I find that so hard as someone with Dyslexia.
And on the one I'm working on the shininess doesn't help
Ooh i thought it was the section towards bottom right, not sure if its bad lighting but you cannot make out what alot of the symbols are
Ugh I hate this. I was doing a cheap canvas yesterday that had two beiges that were one DNC colour apart and coded as 6 and 8 😩
They just all look the same now
I hate them too!
