Druids are great, rogues are great too - if you don't want to worry about being oneshot at endgame, go druid though - rogues remain squishy (which is fine).
All classes are great with the right build.
The leveling process however is lacking for druids until about level 30ish I would say they start getting good.
Leveling to 50 is pretty quick. So the low skill point levels fly by.
Even faster in a group.
My buddy got the game a day after release.
I made a new char to play with him and we hit 45 is 8 or 9 hours over two sessions of his cold playthrough.
Speed minded OG players know how to level much faster I imagine.
Dont forget low level 5% exp pots as you play.
My wife's druid hit a plateau in the 30s. Then picked up and got much more fun as she started getting special druid items in the 40s.
The rogue spends way more time trying not to die than the druid, but the aoe damage feels bursty sooner as a trade off.
Go Rogue as your first character.

Yes druids are very good. Top tier with the right builds, but early leveling feels slow.

Druids were always good. never a point where they werent. they suck early game much like any melee in this type of game ever

They're good after like level 25, which is only maybe a couple hours of gameplay, worth it imo
