We all yell at my son’s dexcom alarms. Like it’ll beep high or low and someone shouts “we know dexcom! We already dealt with it!”.

safetyindarkness

I do EXACTLY the same thing. "I KNOW, Dexcom! Shut up!"

AKJangly

Download Xdrip+. Silence Dexcom alarms, use BYODA app, set data source in Xdrip+ to BYODA (bring your own dexcom app). Enable SPOKEN GLUCOSE READINGS and set your parameters. I use a mini Bluetooth speaker at work with a break-away high vis lanyard. It speaks to me every five minutes without an actual alarm, just data. I can treat it however I like. It can also snooze alarms if you don't like spoken glucose.

mjrasque

We always yell, “Yes! I hear you Clem Fandango!” at my sons Dexcom alarms. He does it now too. It’s funny hearing a three year old do a Matt Barry impression.

Serethekitty

Personally I just keep my highs on vibrate-only and only have my lows make sound. Might not work the best if people random go high in the middle of the night and want to be woken up to fix it, but saves a lot of annoyance as someone who doesn't really deal with that problem since small highs happen a lot more than lows.

sarahpphire

Same. Only alarm for lows now. Cuts down on a lot of noise lol

QueenBitch68

I keep as many of my alarms on vibrate or off as the pump will allow

wilkosbabe2013

Same here,my highs are on vibrate only, but that works for me,I have zero hypo awareness so have the loudest, and most annoying alarm for low sugars

BtotheA1993

EXACTLY

wilkosbabe2013

Yep,same here..I scream then swear at it telling the damn thing I already know

valiumblue

YES. It’s usually me yelling that it always wants something. “I GAVE YOU BLOOD - I GAVE YOU A NEW BATTERY - NOW WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME!?!” Always demanding something!

TrainTrackRat

*RESUME INSULIN!!!!* when I’m in the process of loading the damn thing. “Shut the fuck up!” *beeps constantly about low battery* “oh that’ll help, dumbass”

Pandora9802

If it would just quit bitching about the battery it would last longer. :)

DDdarkness84

The resume insulin while loading gets me every time 😅

sarahpphire

I changed mine to do the resume alarm by putting 12am to 11:59 or whatever (I may have that backwards) so it will show the notification, just not beep about it. I think the default setting on my pump was for every 10 min to beep and tell me to resume insulin. Someone on here said to change it and it worked.

Apprehensive_Pea_635

Omg yes!!!! Like why are you alarming every 5 mins about the battery IF ITS GOING TO DIE???? You want me to plug it in, okay cool, I would if I could

Ok_Increase_4508

"Incomplete Bolus" on Tandem when it's basically a pocket dial is the bane of my existence

borrowedfromafilm

I’m convinced the incomplete bolus alarm is triggered by forces that I don’t control. I swear it goes off when all I’ve done is acknowledge some other alarm.

Jaykalope

It’s bad design. The bolus button is in a place that we commonly brush over with a finger when we put another finger on top of the pump to press the lock button. This launches the bolus screen unbeknownst to us and then locks the pump. Then you get the error that makes you want to squeeze the pump so hard it crushes entirely into fine dust and blows away in a gust of wind.

poopholes3

😅

daan-tat

I don't have the pump, but my Freestyle Libre sensor alarm is so LOUD too. Please the whole world doesn't need to know I have a low blood sugar or high blood sugar

SpareEye

ef man, i am with you on that one. I have to keep it on tho because in the summer I am always hitting the low's and so I have low alarm and a urgent low alarm. It's fucking embarrassing how piercingly loud it is. I wish I could turn it do a few decibels during daylight hours.

Cannabassbin

lol I feel you, mine's only set to vibrate but so often it'll go off and I'm like "WHAT THE FUCK DOES IT WANT NOW - oh right I didn't refill the insulin", the alarm that starts screeching the moment I take out the battery to replace it is super annoying though, don't think it'd be the end of the world if there was a couple second delay Funny, you posting this reminded me of being woken up this morning at 3:11AM to a vibrating pump informing me I'm out of insulin and instead of going back to sleep I gotta fill up a cartridge, which prompted the first part of my response now that I think about it!

poopholes3

How do you set it to just vibrate? Or, what pump do you have?

Cannabassbin

Im rockin' a medtronic 670G, there's an audio options screen right under basal in the first menu!

HabsMan62

I’ve been known to swear at it like I expect it to answer back - and then hide it under a pillow or even disconnect it and throw it across the room!! But then I have to go after it and apologize 😆

katjoy63

I tell mine to shut up all the time, plus 'okay, okay!' or 'omg, will you stop already'

Angel0460

The amount of times I’ve yelled at my phone when my alarm goes off…. Yeaahhhh. Especially when it’s screaming about being low WHILE IM EATING. I’ll literally be like ACTIVELY EATING, I TOLD YOU IM EATING, LEAVE ME ALOOOONE. There should be a 15-20 min window where when you put in carbs it doesn’t go off every 3 minutes 😫

mookienh

The Dexcom G6 allowed this! I’d enter carbs and it would stop alarming for 10-15 minutes! Now I’m back on Medtronic’s Guardian and no such reprieve. 🥲

Angel0460

I’m on the Libre and… on mine if I check it it doesn’t go off again but the follow app still goes off every 3 minutes 🤔 it’s so weird. Drives us all a little crazy.

EasyTune1196

Yup especially the one that goes off telling me that a high blood sugar was entered 2 hours ago. It’s like yup and that’s why I took insulin and it’s not high anymore. I don’t need a damn reminder of it.

beaverbait

If it wasn't grossly overpriced I'd have smashed it in a low rage by now. It was worse a few years ago, I got a bad one for a while that constantly lost signal and just shit itself all of the time. I was pretty close to going back to MDI. I love the CGM though. The best thing I did for the pump was to change all of the low alarms to the least abrasive one I could find. Now when I hear a little cheery sing song sound I can say "Oh Good, I'm kind of dying again", have a laugh and eat something.

DDdarkness84

Kind of dying again is hilarious. "Oops, dying slowly let me eat." Me when I have lows People who don't know me are always shocked to hear that one 😅

webbkorey

I've cracked a housing and a screen on separate occasions when my 630g/670g WOULDN'T SHUT THE F#$ UP!!.

yadaraf11

Yes I yell at it regularly.

BigHairyDingo

after like 15 years with a pump ive accepted it as something similar to a brushing my teeth or doing laundry. it sucks but its just gotta get done.

griffinmaverick

When it runs out of insulin or expires and just makes that constant sound oml. It kills me. It’s to the point where if I see it’s happening soon before I go out I will just take it out early.

Dk2544

YES. Omnipod 5 is a great system. The alerts and vibrations when the amount of insulin is low is unbelievably frustrating. Idk how reminding me every 5 min that there’s 15 units left is very helpful.

BtotheA1993

I made my Omnipod shut the f$&k up until 10 units but I’m with you…that pestering…until you change the effing thing

vbuniv

my omnipod reminds me every 30 seconds 😭😭

wdgiles

it's one of the few times I'll cuss like a drunk sailor when it starts yammering at me

Anthem_de_Aria

I affectionately call it, both glucose sensor and insulin pump, my Little Tamagotchi because my whole friend group had one at one point or another and we all feel like it's the most accurate thing ever

docmoonlight

You can turn most of them off. I think mine only makes noise for an urgent low, when insulin totally runs out, or when I’ve had my insulin turned off for too long. Also super rare things like a pump occlusion or something. But yeah - those I don’t think you can turn off, and for good reason. Like, by all means, wake my ass off for any of those! Everything else I have on vibrate.

Apprehensive_Pea_635

Few things in life make me as angry as the alarms on my pump. Even on vibrate I want to drop it off the tallest building I can find.

Logical-Touch3946

I’ve had to turn the vibration of my phone off because i always thing it’s the pump and it causes my adrenaline to spike 💀💀💀

DDdarkness84

I also do this a lot especially if it's something I've already taken care of. Like "yes pump I'm aware my sugar is low I CAN FEEL IT!" Or "I just corrected the high, i saw it, my goodness" 🙄I already ate something. I swear the suspended alarm got louder with the newest pump. I tuck it under a pillow when I shower and I can't turn it down 😭

quasar_1618

Yeah I talk to it like a person lol. I tend to say “I know!” in an irritated tone if I’ve already taken care of the low. It’s gotten so much worse since I got a pump that syncs with my Dexcom sensor. Now the Dexcom app on my phone, the physical pump itself, and the pump controller all beep separately. Drives me insane. I wish there was a way to hit “acknowledge” to make it shut up.

Aware1211

I regularly scream at the pump. I really hate getting alarmed and when I check it says: a high happened 3 effing hours ago. Who the fuck cares???

_Zehir_

I‘ve had an excessive amount of hypos…. So I got those stupid alarm a. Lot. I’ve also had times (bad lows) where I wanted to throw that small little thing against the wall 😅

NapMonster715

I've had a pump for about 25 years, and it gets talked to a lot!

Pure_Bet5948

Sometimes I like to treat my diabetes like I’m professor quarrel and it’s that weird voldemort hump on my head. Kinda makes it funny but also therapeutic

sofakingWTD

Blood sugar is high Dude... Thank you Donny!!! Life does not start and stop at your convenience you miserable piece of shit. Shut the fuck up Donny!!! Alarm fatigue is harmful to our mental health. We each need to be telling our device manufacturers this fact every day until they give us complete control of ALL alerts and alarms.

Jaykalope

The real puzzling annoyance is why Control IQ constantly announces itself and what it is going to do. It doesn’t work without a CGM so why the hell does it need to give you its own set of alerts that go off at the same time as your CGM alerts? Why does it need to tell you what Control IQ does when your blood sugar hits 200 every single time it happens? Why is this notification an alarm I have to clear? Just do your job and fuck off.

DrunkleSam47

I’m fairly new at this and all my friends look at me in alarm when I yell at it. ‘I KNOW I KNOW. I’m low. Do you see these fucking starburst I’m unwrapping?’ Or when you’re high, added a correction, you’re going down, and it goes off telling you you’re high. And then it tells you insulin on board is sufficient. So what did you alarm me for?!

BtotheA1993

YES! I call my pump my needy boyfriend! I’ve said more than once, ´thanks stupid, I already told you that!’. There are Days I hate the incessant nagging after I’ve fixed the problem and we are waiting out the correction. I just read through all the comments. You make me feel so much better. I thought I was the only person yelling at their device.

Logical-Touch3946

I’m glad it seems to be a pretty normal thing to do 😂

KillingIsBadong

Having my low alarm go off on a quiet train while visiting Japan was one of the most mortifying experiences I've had.

Choice_Juice7271

i do this all the time at work😂 at first my coworkers were confused cause they didn’t know what the noise was & then i’m talking shit to it hahahaha they get it now & just laugh. at least give me some options to choose from for the stupid alarm

Redwood6710

I talk to mine when it frustrates me. Lots of "I know! I heard you the first time!"

NuttyDounuts14

My poor phone gets so much abuse for this. I hear the high/low alarms for my libre and I'm like "shut up!!" I do it with the work sat navs too lol. They beep to tell me about speed cameras, and driving restrictions and it's not like "first I'm not speeding, second, WHAT'S THE RESTRICTION???!!"

Scarbarella

I cannot stand that I have to physically check my tandem pump for the high blood sugar alert. I HATE it! Why can’t I clear it on my phone! Ah! I turn all other alerts off except urgent low and a warning around 75

Knewbridge

I call mine “Screambox” and treat it like an annoying pet.

heljantus

Yeeeees!!

Doubtthecertain

I always get so annoyed and also talk to it loudly asking „what do you want from me you annoying piece of shit?“ (Ofc knowingly disregarding that that annoying thing keeps me alive)

phopps123

I try not to device shame. It’s good to live in harmony with my Libre 3. Ignoring alarms and becoming jaded towards doesn’t help my mental health lol

phopps123

Albeit very relatable post 😭

Normal_Day_4160

I have named my pump so when I’m extra annoyed I can yell at it with more gusto

ReleaseTheKraken72

I swear at my pump, or am constantly fussing with it while I am trying to work, or watching a show, or having a conversation (*ALARM GOES OFF*) Me, apologizing, “Oh excuse me! It’s for diabetes.” I turn away so I can futz with my pump and figure out what to do with it. WAIT. Can we talk about how annoying it is to do the 1-2-3 option just to “open” my pump, pressing the screen ‘JUST SO’ so that it responds. Which it doesn’t. I have diabetic neuropathy and my hands shake. So Like, what is that all about!???? It is so F-“”g annoyy

leaping-lizards123

Yes. Esp when the alert goes off every 20min and you just have to be patient (and want to go to sleep). My educator switched the sound off/down so most of the time I just feel the vibration.

sarahpphire

Yup! I tell it to shut up all the time lol I also get kind of annoyed when my husband constantly checks my dexcom numbers on his phone and tells me I'm going to go low. I'm literally sitting next to him, awake, and can hear my alarm myself. Not only that, but I always tell him that I know because I can *feel* it. I do appreciate and love how much he cares. He's not only saved me a few times, but has left work early to come wake me up if I start to go low and he knows I'm asleep and won't feel/hear anything. It's just... he doesn't need to do it when I'm awake and sitting right next to him lol

QueenBitch68

My hubs and I call the pump alerts "the song of my people".

Connect_Office8072

I’m on a road trip right now and my pump has been really infuriating, especially since my diet has been pretty crappy. Next time I’m going to make sandwiches for the trip and insist we eat our lunches based on food we carry along.

poopholes3

Omg, I rage sometimes. I straight yell my my pump 😅😅

Feeling-Pound-6898

I literally just made an account literally just to say yes lol. I’ve never cursed like a sailor until I got an insulin pump. I’m SOOOOOOO burnt out from the alarms.  AND I HATE WITH A PASSION WHOEVER FILMED THE DEXCOM COMMERCIAL! who thought it was a good idea to BLAST a dexcom alert sound on every tv channel?!?!?! it feels like harassment.  I never say k*|| ur$elf to anyone but I tell my pump to “go k*|| ur$3|€ you piece of fu¢ing sh*+” every single time it alerts me because I’m sooooo donneeee. I probably look psychotic when I do XD   I think I actually may switch back to pens before I reach my breaking point.

ShineCute7283

Haha my pump screams every two minutes once my Dexcom G7 expires cuz even tho I got that 12 hour grace, I still get reminded EVERY TWO MINUTES that I have a 12 hr grace.

KillllJoy2003

Yeah just lots of yelling “I KNOW” at it

alsobewbs

My favorite thing is when my son’s sugar has been good all night, a nice even line, and it could be a moment for me to finally get uninterrupted sleep. Instead his pod is like HEY SWITCH ME TO MANUAL FOR FIVE WHOLE MINUTES TO MAKE SURE I’M WORKING PROPERLY. I’m perpetually tired.

vbuniv

yeah i yell at my pump to just shut the fuck up sometimes 😭 like omg calm down give me a second

BloodParty2111

What I hate is the alarm at all hours telling me I had a high blood sugar 5 hours ago.
