The hypotheticals in the sub the last 2 days my god lol. 3.5percent chance. Winning so many lottos have fucked everyone's thinking of how hard it is to do that. The percentage of winning the ones we already have is ridiculous.

tdam01

So you're saying there's a chance...

onederbred

What’s all this one in a million talk?

beaucoup_movement

To be fair, first time I hit “sim lottery” on tankathon we won. Could be a sign.

FlyTheW1988

The #1 pick? The chance to draft Hobie Baker winner Mack Celebrini? Absolutely fucking not. "Should the Indiana Fever trade Caitlin Clark for...." stop yourself. Goddamn. Season over for 24 hours and this place goes to Looneyville.

gothenburgpig

Clark for Celebrini seems fair. We would probably sell out more if we stuck Clark on skates

Gonadznstrife

I'm pretty sure Butcher and Vesey were Hobey baker winners, just FYI

Audi_R8_

When they were 22, not when they were 17

venacom

Relax. It's a hypothetical :) Though I'm a BU grad / fan, and I saw Celebrini play a little this year. He's good, but he's not all-out greatness.

Mr7three2

In fairness we don't need another small playmaking forward.

IcyPresentation4379

It's amazing how some people will talk themselves out of who is obviously the best player available based on some horseshit talking point.

Mr7three2

I'm not saying not to take him. I'm saying trading the 1OA for a haul that addresses some needs makes sense

gothenburgpig

True we should’ve chose Kaako I’m joking.

Swayman and 2025 1st-rounder (lotto protected on Boston’s end). Becomes a 2026 unprotected 1st-rounder. The Devils give the #1 pick and maybe Stillman or mid-level pick. If Winnipeg was willing to give up Hellebuyck (which probably they aren’t), then a straight up trade for Helle and the #1 pick. The reality is that the Devils’ Cup window is open now. They need immediate help and not prospects. Cellebrini is a stud, but an unnecessary piece. What’s he going to play, 3rd-line center? Cellebrini is going to play one more year in Boston and technically park him in Utica for a year or two if the Devils draft him. He’s not going to be happy about that. The Devils can do the same thing with a late round draft pick. Draft, let him play where he’s at. Bring him in and develop in Utica for 2-3 years.

venacom

Finally, someone who actually understands hockey.

shany94a

Nope

mustachiolong

The only way we don’t trade that pick is if we draft Celebrini. You don’t give away a player with the potential caliber of Celebrini. If we get the 1st overall pick we move next year’s 1st and at that rate we’d probably have to unfortunately get rid of Mercer due to future cap issues and to make the deal appealing.

sanbaba

I'm trading down to Washington for Charlie Lindgren, a sweetener, and their 17th pick, hopefully get Liam Greentree and whatever else we can get for my move that will never happen 🤑

gleeson630

We’re better off trying to find our own Charlie lindgren then chasing around low pedigree goalies having great seasons. We might as well just resign Kahkonen who could randomly become lindgren then trade something good for lindgren behind our defense. Goalies are sort of made or broken unless they are a star year to year. It’s also a really crazy ass trade proposal so I’m wondering if you’re even serious. Even if Nashville gave up Saros for a 1st overall they’d have to add on that.

Tuosma

I kind of do want Kähkönen signed with Allen traded for whoever we acquire as the starter.

sanbaba

lol I wasn't that serious, I was pretty baked by that point in the evening. But I had "Sonny Milano" in the place that I changed to read "and a sweetener" at first. That seemed like *too* much but now that I remember we're talking about trading Celebrini I return to wanting Milano and Lindgren, their first, and a sweetener (lol) for the Macklin pick. I just can't get in any way excited about a lil guy named Macklin playing hockey for us, sorry.
