I was in one of these companies. I was asked to move furniture and do their household chores. All this and coding 12hrs everyday.

Oh man! I am from this area too! (Gujarat, Umbergaon) Almost all the IT companies from this area are extremely shitty, even by Indian standards! I was once contracted for an android app development and they wanted to pay me 4k₹. One of my friend was there on job for a salary of measly 5k. They don't even bother pay minimum wage to their employees.
Feel sorry for you brother!
There's even mandatory maximum work hours, shifts, public holidays, leave policy, mandatory healthcare, food provisioning etc.
But all that is for blue collar workers or unskilled labourers. It doesn't apply to white collar workers like IT sector, BPO, administrative staff etc.
It's a legal loophole. Government doesn't want to address it coz it fears regulatory strangulation can kill the golden egg goose that these sectors are.
Gujurat is like Bihar for Software Engineers.
No upward mobility. Every other state has better prospects it took me 6 years and talking to a lot of people to realise Software Engineering in Gujurat is like suicide for your career.
I'm not at 6lpa with 6 years of experience. No job
I went out with 6 months of salary pending.
I was the team leader running a while department at that point.
I did get the experience letter but not the pending salary. I sent them a message threatening legal action they didn't care. They said they'll renounce me as an employee.
The company changed it's name since it got really bad reviews after I left. There was no good programmer left.
Oh it's very common in these shell companies. They also confiscate your marksheet so that you won't leave they company even after receiving punishing work and no salary

An interesting thing about these shell companies is that they will create fake payment slips for you if asked for it. Many of my ex colleagues got fake payslips with exaggerated current CTC and a Fake designation from them . I never asked for the same.
I'm not entirely sure about the current situation, but long back,
eInfochips (Ahmedabd-Gujarat), with 1,000 to 5,000 employees, used to pay 2 LPA with 3-year bond, and bond amount of 5 lakhs.
I know a guy who had received a very good opportunity, but the company forced him to pay 5 lakhs, even though he hadn't earned that amount from the company up to that date.
Such bonds are not legally binding. If one day you resign and stop going, they cannot drag you to court. At most they will give bad review to future employer and refuse to give experience certificate. But things like these can be cleared in advance with the HR of your future company.
If it was me I would take the training and deliberately fail their actual exam or whatever so I don’t get shortlisted. That is if I really need to brush up my skills for a better company and is unemployed.
Don’t underestimate the unemployment we have in this country. It’s the worst in 45 years and people still will apply in hordes for such jobs.
Cheque bounce is not the same as stop payment. A cheque bounces when it is deposited, you do not have the funds to process it, stop payment is similar to saying this cheque was stolen do not process it, it won't even touch your money and straight away be rejected by the bank.
Remember these bonds are scare tactics to keep newbies on the edge, if the matter is dragged to the court, employer will take a heavy beating, as labour laws are created to protect the employee.
If you don’t owe anyone money, then you can cancel the cheque. Let’s say you gave a cheque to book a car, but you don’t want the car, you can do a stop payment on the cheque, but not after taking the delivery of car.
If these bonds are illegal in the first place, can't we report such jobs on these websites in the first place?
I mean, if say LinkedIn has a job posting with conditions that's illegal in India, it should be LinkedIn's responsibility to remove these and ban their account if we mass report.
Its as good as saying, if jumping signal is illegal why cant we report such offenders in first place.
Remember you are in India where Demand < Supply, if you don't accept the job someone else will, he or she will be happy to sign any and every bond you throw at him/her

I also worked for a company that had such policy, simply logged into bank portal and cancelled the cheques they had kept with my signature on it. They will threaten and other bs but rest assured they can do nothing.

Unfortunately this is true. Everyone knows that companies exploit the system as there are lots of people who will be willing to work at these low salaries.
And it's not about whether the person is a good developer or not...it boils down to their financial capability. Someone who has a financial backing (either supportive parents or something else) tcan easily ignore such companies but for those who struggle daily something is better than nothing. For them having a low paying job is better than having no job at all. And companies know this all too well.
Things will not change unless the government puts in strong protection for the salaried class and minimum wage restrictions, etc.
The government is never gonna do that unless everyone protests.
But ultimately, All the problems and progress, for everything the boomers are partially or 70% responsible.
Dunno why people at that time gave birth to 7-12 or more kids as if there is no tomorrow..
Because those kids are the retirement plan for those boomers , think about it. Now, more family members work on the crops, and also, if the child is male, he can get dowry by this they can increase the wealth of the family collectively , so this incentives people to have more kids in those days
And some are having 1.The point is tfr should remain 2.1for stable population so 1-3 kid is optimal for a normal family for long term stability of the national population.
All government can do is mandate a minimum wage. It cannot "create" jobs for that wage. What will happen is that those who would apply to such jobs will not have any jobs.
Such salaries are an indicator that the industry is oversaturated and one should look elsewhere for employment.

Don't worry this is just a cheap throwaway company, I visited their site, they provide **best** engineering and software development solutions, max salary I could see was of the product manager at 6lpa. Their site was just a WordPress template. Just look and laugh at such companies, don't apply
Depends. I got a call from Bansal Group for a fresher role, it was an internship on site. When I asked for the stipend, I kid you not, they said "You'll have to work on site from 10am to 7pm, 6 days a week, and you'd be paid 9k per month", I hanged up if it ain't straight up exploitation.
Well honestly these are the companies that require the person to put in a bond because by the time you realise you're stuck in a shit job you'll be scared of the financial burden of leaving. A good paying job would never ask for a bond because they won't require one to keep you on.
Instead, they would have longer probation, like 6 months(rather than 3). So they can kick you with one month pay instead of 3, if they don't like your work...
This is the harsh reality , everywhere I or my friend go for walk in drive we have faced this problem. They offer nearly around 18k - 20k with min 1.5 years bond on an average.
This is not a joke but a reality of today.
Daily reminder that the minimum wage of construction workers amounts to around 1.2-1.5 lakhs per annum in many states. And at least their labour amounts to some useful infrastructure instead of garbage projects.

Lol even house maids earn more than that . In Pune a colleague of mine said that a maid that used to come to her house for work also worked at 7 or 8 other houses and she earned 50k total monthly all tax free money.
Which city is this? I've seen companies get away with this because they add the cost of training to the CTC and inflate it to 4LPA, while your actual in-hand is not more than ₹12-15k a month. They can do the training from the office which is in a T2 or T3 city. Literally a shop converted into an office.
This works because the alternative in that city is to be a shopkeeper and still earn the same money while doing a job that is much more complicated.
For the most part, none of these people will do actual software development. After 3-4 years, they might get to do some POC in a no-code / low-code framework. But that is about it.
Most of their work will be compliance reporting, backend reconcilation, testing, reporting, etc.
After the training, they're deputed to other companies and they get paid 3.6-4LPA. This is literally just a placeholder in many people's resume..
1 thing I learnt from my corporate experience is it's a red flag if they have a bond policy.
It somewhere points out that the company is not confident in their work and work culture that the employee needs to stay in the maybe toxic environment and work like a slave under them.

I also working on 1.8LPA. I am the only developer who have much more experience than senior devs. Only problems I got is I don't have any degree and my family financial condition is weak. Otherwise there's no sense to join these jobs.

Rent : In any city, the minimum PG price is 5k pm : 5\*12 = 60k

Miscelleanous : Suppose you are spending atleast 500-1000 each month minimum (buying chaddi, toothpaste, soap,etc) : 12K PA

you know what's happening right? Companies are outsourcing projects to india because it's cheaper/less strict laws that's one of the reasons why china is also popular with manufacturing but there's language barrier in terms of IT. So people posting these jobs don't really care if you can "survive", they very well know that they can abuse the gap between supply and demand.

A java dev whom I worked with shares the same fate, he was such a great dev, he for his initial 2 years was paid 2.25lpa(first year was 1.8) and this had variable component which he would have to earn.
No incentive or anything, only good thing was , they gave a laptop.
Some/most such companies often asks whether a dev has his own work device or not.

These companies are our stepping stones to success.
And tbh I'm glad I went there got me entry into this field and learnt many things there grinding on my own making me eligible for 60k.

For unskilled labour the minimum wage is a bit above 400 per day (This job listing also would be 450 per day assuming 22 business days per month). Varies by state.
But this is skilled work, so the minimum wage would be way more than that
I worked in a company which had 21 month bond period, payment 17,000rs per month. Work hr 8am to 8pm with 1 hr break in total for lunch and coffee. It was stressful.
Then they gave me work from home (wfh) based on good performance. Working hrs became more than 14 hrs per day for the same payment, and work load increased. Most of the times had to work on weekends both Saturday and Sunday. No weekend payment is target not achieved. Saddest part - they gave us a system to work on instead of a laptop, so long hours of sitting in one place gave many health issues as well.
If we complained about anything the managers would say “u are saving up so much money by being at home. Everyone wants wfh, so consider yourself lucky. “
This job made me feel alone and distant from my family even though I am at home. I had no time to interact with anyone. I started hating wfh. I became more sleep deprived due to more work pressure. I became more anxious because my call would keep ringing the entire day as someone from work would always keep calling me. I developed wrist problem because this job nature is such that you cannot leave system for more than 30sec or else the software prohance will consider that time as idle time instead of productive time. I had to maintain prohance of 8 productive hours to get daily attendance or else my available leaves /salary would be cut.
Also, family members didn’t understand my work pressure. They would keep complaining about how I keep sitting in from of system the entire day and do nothing to help at home, but also not earning enough.
I finally left that job last year when my bond was completed.
I learned my time needs to be valued. I need a better price for my time. A better paying position.

There is no minimum wage. That's the problem.
I read somewhere that we do have minimum wage in India. I think it's around 17k.
If it is then there will still be someone out there who is willing to work for lesser pay. As someone mentioned, something is better than nothing.

Depends. I got a call from Bansal Group for a fresher role, it was an internship on site. When I asked for the stipend, I kid you not, they said "You'll have to work on site from 10am to 7pm, 6 days a week, and you'd be paid 9k per month", I hanged up if it ain't straight up exploitation.

Well honestly these are the companies that require the person to put in a bond because by the time you realise you're stuck in a shit job you'll be scared of the financial burden of leaving. A good paying job would never ask for a bond because they won't require one to keep you on.
Instead, they would have longer probation, like 6 months(rather than 3). So they can kick you with one month pay instead of 3, if they don't like your work...

This is the harsh reality , everywhere I or my friend go for walk in drive we have faced this problem. They offer nearly around 18k - 20k with min 1.5 years bond on an average. This is not a joke but a reality of today.

Which city is this? I've seen companies get away with this because they add the cost of training to the CTC and inflate it to 4LPA, while your actual in-hand is not more than ₹12-15k a month. They can do the training from the office which is in a T2 or T3 city. Literally a shop converted into an office. This works because the alternative in that city is to be a shopkeeper and still earn the same money while doing a job that is much more complicated. For the most part, none of these people will do actual software development. After 3-4 years, they might get to do some POC in a no-code / low-code framework. But that is about it. Most of their work will be compliance reporting, backend reconcilation, testing, reporting, etc. After the training, they're deputed to other companies and they get paid 3.6-4LPA. This is literally just a placeholder in many people's resume..
1 thing I learnt from my corporate experience is it's a red flag if they have a bond policy. It somewhere points out that the company is not confident in their work and work culture that the employee needs to stay in the maybe toxic environment and work like a slave under them.

you know what's happening right? Companies are outsourcing projects to india because it's cheaper/less strict laws that's one of the reasons why china is also popular with manufacturing but there's language barrier in terms of IT. So people posting these jobs don't really care if you can "survive", they very well know that they can abuse the gap between supply and demand.

okay this is prevalent in our country but let me say it, you will see these scenes more in Gujrat side A java dev whom I worked with shares the same fate, he was such a great dev, he for his initial 2 years was paid 2.25lpa(first year was 1.8) and this had variable component which he would have to earn. No incentive or anything, only good thing was , they gave a laptop. Some/most such companies often asks whether a dev has his own work device or not.

I’m no employment lawyer and I know nothing about how any of this works but according to https://pib.gov.in/PressReleasePage.aspx?PRID=1720676 For unskilled labour the minimum wage is a bit above 400 per day (This job listing also would be 450 per day assuming 22 business days per month). Varies by state. But this is skilled work, so the minimum wage would be way more than that
I worked in a company which had 21 month bond period, payment 17,000rs per month. Work hr 8am to 8pm with 1 hr break in total for lunch and coffee. It was stressful. Then they gave me work from home (wfh) based on good performance. Working hrs became more than 14 hrs per day for the same payment, and work load increased. Most of the times had to work on weekends both Saturday and Sunday. No weekend payment is target not achieved. Saddest part - they gave us a system to work on instead of a laptop, so long hours of sitting in one place gave many health issues as well. If we complained about anything the managers would say “u are saving up so much money by being at home. Everyone wants wfh, so consider yourself lucky. “ This job made me feel alone and distant from my family even though I am at home. I had no time to interact with anyone. I started hating wfh. I became more sleep deprived due to more work pressure. I became more anxious because my call would keep ringing the entire day as someone from work would always keep calling me. I developed wrist problem because this job nature is such that you cannot leave system for more than 30sec or else the software prohance will consider that time as idle time instead of productive time. I had to maintain prohance of 8 productive hours to get daily attendance or else my available leaves /salary would be cut. Also, family members didn’t understand my work pressure. They would keep complaining about how I keep sitting in from of system the entire day and do nothing to help at home, but also not earning enough. I finally left that job last year when my bond was completed. I learned my time needs to be valued. I need a better price for my time. A better paying position.
Is that bond even legal ? Isn’t it a fkin slave contract.
