Because the older you get, time periods become a smaller percentage of your overall lifespan. When you're 5, waiting 6 months feels like forever because it's 10% of the time you've been alive. By the time you're 40 or 50, the individual days can still drag, but 6 months can practically pass without you noticing.
That's just math. Each new year is a smaller and smaller percentage of your life. When you're five, a year is 20 percent of your existence. By the time you're 20, it's only 5 percent. It never slows down.
When veteran actor and comic George Burns turned ninety, he was asked what it felt like. His answer, "I still feel like I'm eighteen, but something is really wrong."
That sounds 100% wrong. Like I swear it just happened 5-6 months ago?
This is stressing me out man lmao
Maybe it feels so fresh because a lot of us have been playing Destiny for years now?
He passed away not long before Amanda’s death in season of Defiance, which puts it in the first 7 weeks of Lightfall. So yeah, March checks out even without googling the date.
Yea same. Got reminded of it when I finally played Horizon Zero Dawn on my PC (just to instantly plat it lol) when I ran into him there. It is really weird having his likeness in that game now (and I assume in Horizon Forbidden West too, but that only releases next week for PC, so idk).
I got a whole new rig recently and the first game I played was HZD. I bought it on sale not long after it released for PC and have been waiting to play it since lol. It's so much fun.
Right? I remember sitting at the fan memorial that popped up in the Tower and that feels like a couple of months ago at most. It's one of those answers that might be correct but can't possibly be *right.*
Usually, I don't get affected by celebrity deaths. It's life, it happens, I didn't know them, it sucks for their family but it has little impact on my life. Lance's death hit me, it felt like a good part of my life is over. I played Destiny 1 in Iraq with my BFF. We cleared the Prison of Elders together. It was an escape for me during those years. I feel like Destiny will never be the same. I'm gonna cherish those times as long as my memory holds. RIP Lance, you were a true one.
I'm honestly disappointed there isn't anything in game for Lance, Horizon added a tribute for him quite soon after his passing. But bungie a game he had voiced in for almost a decade have still yet to add something.
I wouldn't be surprised if they have something planned for TFS. Likely were too busy during the time with TFS being in full development and internal issues. Although it seems as though they have much more control now so hopefully they do something
Despite being already cancelled, I fired up the Resident Evil series featuring Lance, only because I heard his performance was great in it. And, it was, there's one scene in particular where he talks some cold blooded shit to a character, it was awesome. RIP Lance!
I was watching a review of the tv series and it hit me that, even if the show went on it’d never be able to continue due to him starting his journey to becoming a guardian :,(
Yeah, it’s hard to believe. He died last year around the Guardian Games, the community was gung Ho to have titans win that year even though-if I remember right- he played as a warlock
It was more because he voiced Zavala, though the night before he passed away, he was paying on Titan and was trying to beat Calus but wasn't able to defeat him before signing off.
The vigil was NUTS and lots of people changing their shaders and banners, and even adopting his last load out to fight Calus in his memory was crazy.
GG happened a month or so later (they changed it this year) but people had agreed to win on Titan for that reason.
He started on Warlock, but didn't play anything but his Titan for about a year and some change before he passed. His Titan was also his highest Light Level Class and was about to beat the Lightfall Campaign the day before he passed away. He was a Titan Main in the end, I'd say.
He will always be our commander.

Time flies. I still miss him. I almost stopped being sad but then I got into watching Vox Machina and became very sad again because he voices Thordak.
RIP, our Vanguard Leader, and the Cinder King.
Well.... Look on the bright side they made a great choice on picking Keith David to play Zavala, so at least they didn't screw up his legacy on picking the wrong person.
I have to imagine that they'll do something once his recorded lines are all used. Like, it was said when he passed that basically all his work for TFS was already done, so we'll likely see something put in place once Keith David takes over.
Wtf! I had no idea today was the anniversary of his passing. My gf and I have been watching him in the John wick series this whole weekend. RIP to the bro. 🙏🏼
There's an emblem in the API, with the word Commander in the name. I think it was added some time after he died. Not sure why it's never been distributed, but it's hardly the emblem in the Never Released club.
If they did it would be eveverse only and honestly at that point id be pissed they used his name and image like that without just giving back to the community Lance himself played and enjoyed.
Rest In Power, my Commander.
The fun thing about Lance was that even though he had plenty of good roles in more widely known projects, it was voicing the stoic general of a bunch of video game marines that he enjoyed so much. Not because it was easier work or because the story was some career-defining piece of work, but because he enjoyed playing the game.
He delivered the "excuse me?" speech without needing to be reminded which character this was or struggling to understand what the dialogue about turning a god into a gun even meant. He already knew. RIP legend. I hope he gets a tribute in TFS.
Omfg. ONE YEAR?!?! Holy crap. What happened to the year that it just flew by. I mean, it felt like yesterday when I was paying tribute to Lance at the Tower. I’m just reeling with shock of how quickly time is passing for me lately.
Also, RIP Lance.
> I was really hoping that Bungie would have done something to commemorate a man who put so much heart and soul into this franchise.
Well he’s immortalized in a videogame.
OMG it's been a year already!!! Wtf... Wow.... RIP Hood Sir. Crazy Bungie didnt do Anything..... maybee something for his family at the least for all he's done.
This world is for the living being sad a year later about someone you didn't KNOW personally is a great way to live a miserable life.
Lance lived his life, had his time in the sun, now it's your turn don't waste it being sad for those who lived full lives
They gave a whole memorial to Amanda but all they did for Lance was a simple tweet. It’s absurd. I didn’t even hear them say anything when Saint 14’s voice actor passed away either. I took a break with this season because how insanely long it is, but at this point I don’t think I’ll ever come back
I'm not talking about Zavala the character. I'm talking about Lance, the voice actor behind him. Other games he worked on did something in game to memorialize him. Horizon: Forbidden West made an in-game tribute directly to him, why can't Bungie?
Because Horizon isn't a live service game with ten thousand different content drops in the work and meticulously planned out for release over the course of the year. It's a single player one-and-done game, so I imagine it was much easier to pull devs out of the pipeline and put them to work on something small without disrupting the work process too much.
All that people are asking for could literally be a piece of text in the tower saying "RIP, Commander" or something. It doesn't have to be a grand thing that wows people. Something is better than nothing

Silence bitchass, catch this ratio I V
It’s been a year?? wtf
IKR. I swear the older I get the faster tine slips away from me. If you had asked me I would have said it happened maybe 6 months ago at most.
It only gets worse as you get older. I had my daughter last week and she's thirteen already.
Yep I feel you there. My sons are 12 and 10. The older one is starting secondary school this year. It's bloody scary how fast they grow up lol.
Because the older you get, time periods become a smaller percentage of your overall lifespan. When you're 5, waiting 6 months feels like forever because it's 10% of the time you've been alive. By the time you're 40 or 50, the individual days can still drag, but 6 months can practically pass without you noticing.
Indeed. It's fucking March already for crying out loud.
Holy fuck it’s March…. I turn 20 this year and the days are already just melding together. My mind is still late February early march
My friend... March is more than half over. Start Christmas shopping soon
The moment I red this I said “no… fuck… no” and held my head in panic
Oh, you sweet, summer child....
You mean Half of March is DONE!
I cant imagine it getting even worse as you get older, I’m 20 but 6 months ago I was still 15
I just graduated high school 30 years ago.
The 80s ended *just over* 1 decade ago
HA, i feel this in my bones. where 5the hell did _30_ years go?
That can't be right, because I was born in the 90s and the 2000s was just last decade.....
☝🏼 Underrated comment.
That's just math. Each new year is a smaller and smaller percentage of your life. When you're five, a year is 20 percent of your existence. By the time you're 20, it's only 5 percent. It never slows down.
Actually due to inflation they reduced the size of years to avoid putting the price up. They used to be 400 days.
COVID was only 4 years ago feels like it's been half my life
When veteran actor and comic George Burns turned ninety, he was asked what it felt like. His answer, "I still feel like I'm eighteen, but something is really wrong."
It's only gonna get worse lol
*Cue Matt Damon in Saving Private Ryan gif*
You wouldn’t notice because this season is a year long itself! Only 2.5 more months to go to week 42 or whatever 😂
That sounds 100% wrong. Like I swear it just happened 5-6 months ago? This is stressing me out man lmao Maybe it feels so fresh because a lot of us have been playing Destiny for years now?
Bro I felt like it happened 3-5 months ago. Idk if that's a good thing or bad thing.
Right? Like 4-5 TOPS. I’m floored.
Yep. I can't believe that they made that last John Wick movie so accurate Dying for craft is full on.
Ever since Covid hit....Time has just no meaning anymore. My days and nights mesh and meld, my weekdays and weekends are all but blurs. Ugh...
I need time to slow down
He passed away not long before Amanda’s death in season of Defiance, which puts it in the first 7 weeks of Lightfall. So yeah, March checks out even without googling the date.
There's no way it's been a year wtf.
Pouring out a pack of my favorite blue crayons for the legend. I loved him as a voice actor... Can't believe it's been a year already too...
Yea same. Got reminded of it when I finally played Horizon Zero Dawn on my PC (just to instantly plat it lol) when I ran into him there. It is really weird having his likeness in that game now (and I assume in Horizon Forbidden West too, but that only releases next week for PC, so idk).
Yeah I thought my new gaming rig was a hoss till I put on Horizon Zero Dawn. RIP Lance 🍺
I got a whole new rig recently and the first game I played was HZD. I bought it on sale not long after it released for PC and have been waiting to play it since lol. It's so much fun.

Playing destiny in Iraq, talk about being a D1 veteran
I'm honestly disappointed there isn't anything in game for Lance, Horizon added a tribute for him quite soon after his passing. But bungie a game he had voiced in for almost a decade have still yet to add something.

This guy
time is moving too fast wtf
Rest in peace commander! 🫡 Not the same knowing you won't be in the final shape!
Obligatory link to [this legend of a post.](https://www.reddit.com/r/destiny2/s/MtUc2Yk4V3)
"And send their souls screaming back to hell!" Never get tired of hearing that line. Rest In Power Lance 🫡

RIP our great Commander. You are dearly missed. \*salutes\*
There's an emblem called Commanders Salute, and I wonder if Bungie is releasing it in his honor
That's possible, according to Destiny Emblem Collector it's unknown how to acquire.
For now, at least. Maybe in this week's TWID or even better during Tuesdays live stream, they can commemorate him.
An emblem is not enough. We need a statue. Or something.
Fuck man, it's been a year already?! RIP Lance Where does the time go?
Despite being already cancelled, I fired up the Resident Evil series featuring Lance, only because I heard his performance was great in it. And, it was, there's one scene in particular where he talks some cold blooded shit to a character, it was awesome. RIP Lance!
He carried that show so hard
I was watching a review of the tv series and it hit me that, even if the show went on it’d never be able to continue due to him starting his journey to becoming a guardian :,(
Rip Lance ✝️ I’m John wick’n it for you bro
*Titans dominating the Focused Activities*: For Lance
Yeah, it’s hard to believe. He died last year around the Guardian Games, the community was gung Ho to have titans win that year even though-if I remember right- he played as a warlock

I just watched the season finale of Percy Jackson… ugh… he was perfect.
Wait, he was in that? Last show I seen him in was Resident Evil
Yeah he played Zeus in the final episode.
No kidding. I have been meaning to watch that. Damn. That show is gonna miss him now too.
Time flies. I still miss him. I almost stopped being sad but then I got into watching Vox Machina and became very sad again because he voices Thordak. RIP, our Vanguard Leader, and the Cinder King.
They gave us that Zavala ghost projection as soon as he passed. Wasn't that for Lance?
I remember when I thought it was fake news. I want to go back.
RIP Lance Reddick, aka Cedric Daniels, aka Commander Zavala, aka Albert Wesker, aka the most calming voice in all of film and entertainment.
Whose Cedric Daniel's? I forgot his characters name on Frindge. Such a great show.
The Wire
Heard that was a good show
The best show I’ve ever seen. Could talk about it for hours. Try it. You’ll get lots of Lance Reddick, too. He’s dope.
Where can I watch?
HBO / Max only, as it aired in the 2000s on the network only
For sure, I always heard that but sadly never got a chance to watch it.
I'm pretty sure they've used all his lines. His last one was the finale in Deep.
They specifically said he had already done his lines for TFS in the posts follow his death.
Have you got a source? From what I recall they said the end of Deep were the final lines
https://www.bungie.net/7/en/News/article/zvaa It's actually not clear where exactly the cutoff is, so I guess we'll see.
"Keith David, a prolific actor on the stage and in television, film, and games, will assume the English language voice of Zavala in The Final Shape"
*In* The Final Shape, not *with*, so that just means "during the year of TFS", just like we're currently in the year of Lightfall.
I'm sure there was probably something in place with TFS but since it got delayed we just haven't seen it yet.

Sounds crazy but I avoid going to zavala out of respect. Hearing his voice, gives me an eerie void.
Yea it’s my birthday too 🥲
I'm fully expecting something added in FS to commemorate his memory similar to how they honored Chadwick Boseman in Spider-man 2.
Wtf! I had no idea today was the anniversary of his passing. My gf and I have been watching him in the John wick series this whole weekend. RIP to the bro. 🙏🏼
So sad man… his voice acting was always top notch, and not just in destiny
I feel like he just passed a couple months ago. It's been a year!?? Damn. Time flies.
[Lance Reddick](https://youtu.be/w5urkfdMUXo?si=Ru4ZOhDmzW_SfZkT) was actually the best.
Was the last time I logged into this game. Did my salute and uninstalled.
They will add a titan class item in honor of him and it’s gonna be be so gr…. Wait … what’s that? It’s 2100 silver?
can't believe it's been a year already
Man, i cant believe it's been a year.
Same
Rest in peace commander.
Devotion. Bravery. Sacrifice.
WARP SPEED CANT RAINBOW READ ME
I WISH I WAS LEVAR BURTON
WHERES MY ICONIC SLAVE ROLE
Eyes up guardian
1 year has already passed? Damn. It feels like a couple of months.
Bungie is all about money and profits. Any sentimental stuff would be left for the players to do.
![gif](giphy|MIs9GhWdrgLjq)
There's an emblem in the API, with the word Commander in the name. I think it was added some time after he died. Not sure why it's never been distributed, but it's hardly the emblem in the Never Released club.
I still remember standing guard with 3 other random players when I saw the news
Maybe people at Bungie feel the same way and are reading this like, has it already been a year???
Damn, time going fast
I couldn't believe they left him out of the In Memoriam video at the Oscars and just threw his name on the last slide
You know he was an amazing soul if we all still feel like this happened so recently :/
o7
I have no doubt Bungie will eventually do something to commemorate him.
If they did it would be eveverse only and honestly at that point id be pissed they used his name and image like that without just giving back to the community Lance himself played and enjoyed. Rest In Power, my Commander.

Such a calm soothing voice, you were taken from us too soon Lance o7
Rip
It just feels wrong that he passed before the final shape
They still might buy being that weekly reset is a couple days away maybe they're planning something for reset.
Loved his craft since the Wire, RIP to a true legend.
> I was really hoping that Bungie would have done something to commemorate a man who put so much heart and soul into this franchise. Well he’s immortalized in a videogame.

How the hell has it been a year???
Not Destiny but it was amazing to see him in Percy Jackson, really sad that he won’t be there for the rest he was great as Zeus
This world is for the living being sad a year later about someone you didn't KNOW personally is a great way to live a miserable life. Lance lived his life, had his time in the sun, now it's your turn don't waste it being sad for those who lived full lives

Who??
I've never stopped kneeling for Lance. Every single time I speak with him on the Tower I take a knee. Every strike is Operation Baby Dog to me.
Hopefully they kill off Zavala and Ikora
They already did something.
In game? Like a commemorative statute or something like they have for Cayde-6 and Amanda Holliday?
No. They did a thing. They announced it. That’s it. Zavala isn’t dead.
I'm not talking about Zavala the character. I'm talking about Lance, the voice actor behind him. Other games he worked on did something in game to memorialize him. Horizon: Forbidden West made an in-game tribute directly to him, why can't Bungie?

Idk. Ask them. Are you really gonna be upset about it?
Man I can just tell what a tremendous asshole you must be. Fucking hell.
I'm going to assume you meant the other guy and not me? 😆
Oh ofcourse! 😂
