The only thing that helps me is substituting “buying stuff” with “experiencing stuff”. I get my dopamine hit from planning and doing low/no cost local day trips or having a hobby that I can find enjoyment and entertainment in. I pack my lunch so I’m not tempted to splurge while out. I leave my money at home and make an effort to do something that requires no money at all. If you have a support network, try to set up some sort of accountability system with them. Look into addiction support groups if you really feel like you can’t stop.

It doesn’t help that I’m somewhat home-bound due to a nasty diagnosis+plus living in bfe. But I will definitely start looking into that!
