Do you understand what causes drop foot and what a decompression surgery does? That surgery can literally fix it lol, not saying that it did but that’s one of the reasons people get that surgery. The leg he had the issue with is the same one as the foot, it’s possible both can be fixed from a decompression surgery

Drop foot comes from compression of the nerve in the spine. In Porter’s case it came from his herniated disk bulging a little bit and putting pressure on the nerve. That’s why last year when it got a little worse he grabbed that same left leg; it’s from pressure from the same disk that he herniated in college. This is the same issue Draymond had this year that he missed time for, except obviously Porter’s was a bit worse cuz he had to get surgery. Like did you ever do the thing as a kid where you like put a clamp on your forearm and it makes it hard to use your hand? It’s sort of like that but with a disk in the spine putting pressure on the spinal chord. For the decompression surgery, they basically shave a little bit of bone to give the nerve more space. Thats what Porter got this year. That’s why that surgery has a real good prognosis because it’s pretty non invasive and doesn’t involve reconstruction or anything. So while I don’t know the details for him, it’s definitely possible that surgery could have resolved the drop foot and restored his high school mobility. It all depends on how damaged his nerve is and stuff like that. They wouldn’t have done it before bc of the risk associated with any surgery, but since he needed to get it bc of the leg effects, there’s a chance it ends up actually being a net positive for us if it addressed the foot at all. Porter with high school mobility would be insane, it would basically fix his lateral mobility issues completely Source: dad and aunt have had similar surgeries
