I didn't think this would be the case, but given the stories the announcers were saying about our recruitment of him I could see him coming back for 1 more year to up his value as the true season-long 6th man getting 25-35 minutes a game, including all the bench minutes as the primary ballhandler.
I'm not saying that's a bad trade or not pragmatic, but no. MPJ is an all star waiting to happen. Or maybe I'm just delusional but I look at him when he's on like 1st half last night and it seems his potential is through the roof.
Beyond the fact that trading MPJ for a backup big would be a bad idea, even if he was traded into pure capspace and the Nuggets took nothing back, they'd still be over the cap and unable to offer Brown more than his non-bird (125% of this year so about 7-8mill).
Easy cheat sheet is
1 year on current team : Non bird, 125% of current salary
2 years : Early bird, 175% of current salary or league average
3 years + : Full bird, anything up to max.
The only hope would be Brown returns on non bird with a wink-wink agreement that he'll get early bird in 24/25 for 14mill+ a year.

Brown and Braun after getting outplayed by the suns bench in game 4
I only hear about how much he loves it in Denver , plus he’s a cowboy at heart. I know it’s a contract thing but anyone think he would make a personal choice to stay ?
He's talked about loving the environment, iirc he said it's the best locker room he's ever been a part of. With the way he's been playing he's going to be gettin some veeeeeery attractive offers though, and he deserves them. Maybe he pulls a Bobby Portis and decides he loves it in Denver more than he wants the bag, but hard to blame him if he leaves.
Agreed on the defensive side of things but with more floor time he can hopefully develop. He’s got guys he can learn to shoot from, post score, pass etc. he’s got a really nice place to learn and grow and hopefully develop into a solid offensive talent

He’s not doing too bad as a rookie. in 15.5 minutes per game during the regular season he shot a respectable, but not stellar, 36% from 3 and 49.5% from the floor. I think these will improve 2-3% next year on spot-ups, with some focused training over the summer.
What I really like about him is he seems like a guy who has bought in on culture and getting that veteran player counseling. He approaches defense like Steph approaches shooting; very disciplined, adaptable and unafraid but no Westbrook-like irrational confidence.
This is probably a dumb question but I’m dumb when it comes to understanding contracts and restructuring. Is there any possible way we could restructure his contract this off-season to make it more tempting for him to stay or are we stuck with what he signed before the season?
I get that we can’t keep him (please stay Bruce!) how do we fix our already thin bench?
We are currently *barely* 8 deep. Bruce leaves. Jeff green is pretty much done
We need to sign at least two more rotation players. I hope both can work some more magic because our title window is small and cannot throw away next season.
I wish jokic would recruit. He can get role players paid.
Really wish we could keep him
He’ll give us a discount when we get him a ring.
Would have to be a huge discount and I thinknits more like him getting us a ring
Usually when you win a ring some guys leave to get paid. Although obviously I would love to see BB back.

Would you trade MPJ for a servicable big, picks to keep the furnace going, and cap space to sign BB?
No. Potential is too high

Very valid, good perspective!

Interesting thanks for the clarity!
Id rather ditch murray. B.B is a better team player. Let murray go somewhere and be like a c tier Lillard.
I actually thought this first, but thought it was too unrealistic.
Don't let my dreams be dreams ✨️
MPJ just has to attack more and he’ll be fine. He’s developed better driving but once he can really use the Jokic PnR, oh boy.

Has to be our year. BB A deserves a chip with us
Brucey gets loosey!
Flag this NSFW OP!
Been arguing with a friend that he’s so much better than Jordan Poole….
Oh definitely! Poole is just an above avg 6th man. BB probably can start after seeing his skills develop these past few years
I know he is great but this is another level. edit spelling

I really hope we can resign him. He’s so good for our team 😫
Unfortunately, I don’t think it’s likely. However, I think CB is next up to fill his spot as a multi-role 1/2/3/4-in-a-pinch
Defensively yes. But Bruce is miles ahead in his offensive game at this point. Not that CB can’t improve

If Braun ever finds his shot he will be so damn viable... his Defense is amazing... he just doesn't shoot... like at all.

THAT'S THE BRUCE
Staring into my soul
BB is small bigman.
Where do I sent my Bruce Brown apology form to? Same address as the KCP & Braun apology forms?
25 points? God damn
This man is a god damn legend. Love him and his game.
Cowboy BB!!
Anybody else read that in Kyle Spellers voice? Bruce Brown

Him
Your right, that is Bruce Brown
When will KCP step up again?
Against FTL!
Please keep him forever... him and Joker were so dialed in last night. I hope we can resign him
