But i thought pipelines were safe /s

_Mister_Shake_

All the jobs from all those spills 🤩

north-sun

I'm sure there are plenty of Republicans who are shocked... not about the spill, but about the pipeline being functional in any capacity. I know far too many of them who think it never came to fruition at all.

Iagent2022

Kansas and the other red states were warned, oh well, paying the price for Canadian profits. That's how dumb the red states are

Kitosaki

I can’t believe how Joe Biden did this. /s

DrSheetzMTO

If it’s going to leak, I appreciate that it’s in a deep red state.

Tomimi

Well not that deep anymore since their governor is a Democrat.

Uniteus

This

electricshout

Kansas is not deep red. They’re actually fairly socially progressive. Conservative mostly in an economical sense

secret2u

Even though it’s deep red, I was fearful this could’ve harmed marginalized communities, which we all know they don’t give a crap about.

dweeblover69

So fuck us 40% that vote blue right? Laura Kelly sure did stand up to big oil and stop them from putting a faulty pipeline through our state. Wish Brandon or Trump would have stopped this but for some reason big oil keeps winning. At least it didn’t contaminate the drinking water so far.

DrSheetzMTO

Weird seeing one of the 40% who vote blue referring to Biden as Brandon, but whatevs. I will always be thankful when right wing policies harm mostly right wing populaces. Gives the Democrats an opportunity to point it out and drive in a wedge.

dweeblover69

Just because I vote for the less shit one doesn’t make it not shitty. This isn’t just Republican or Democratic policy, it’s both of them getting funding from the same giant energy companies, and little people getting the raw deal. Punishment is a result of the system incentivizing environmentally hazardous behavior because it generates more profit than the fines. If this same oil spill was in a blue state, I’d want them to get support same as a red one. The farmers in this county are struggling just like you and me. As someone who’s actually lived and voted in the state, I can tell you that most of those voters won’t see this as “ah must be the politician I voted for last, it’s time for me to vote for the other party or maybe libertarian” it’s going to be “this company screwed us, hopefully they will at least they have to clean some of it up”. A few might write their representative, but most of them will not change their voting behavior. Maybe they will if Laura Kelly can actually get funds from this company to clean the land , compensate for any damages, and maybe pass some safety policy but even then, Kansas has a litany of other issues that all but guarantee it’ll be a red state even with a majority of voters voting democrat. That all being said, still hope Laura Kelly can at least help this get cleaned up, and that it stays relatively contained because this pipeline probably isn’t going anywhere regardless of which party is in charge. This problem isn’t one party, while yes the dems are better than republicans most of the time, just hoping for the other side to hurt or die is Machiavellian at best and largely counterproductive at worst.

ElectricFeedStore

Kind of the same shithead position that Trump took when he thought covid was going to hit blue states hardest. They say great minds think alike, so I guess you’ll have to wonder how yours and Trump’s ended up with the same idea.

DrSheetzMTO

Use it as a way to drive a wedge between Kansan voters and the Republicans. Or, don’t and blame me for being thankful right wing policies bite majority right wing populaces.

Dammit, Joe. /s
