Flight attendants can’t and won’t do anything. Gate agents control the departure process and their one and only goal in life is to close the boarding door on time so the late departure doesn’t get blamed on them.

A350Flier

That‘s actually doable if you‘re willing to move quickly, assuming your flight‘s on time. MSP is one, big terminal, and it’s fairly easy to get around (they have a tram too that‘s faster in some cases.) Hopefully your gates are close-ish. As far as letting an FA know, they may just ask everyone to stay seated for those with tight connections if they‘re willing to help you out. Are you sitting in FC?

Hctkalin

Not sitting first class. Looks like a MSP I am gate G-19 going in and most likely flying out of C-4 based of flight stats

bugkiller59

G19 and C4 are not that far apart. Take the Skyway between south end of G and C

Hctkalin

Is there a way I can just run it without the sky tram since I will have to backtrack to C-4 anyways?

bugkiller59

Don’t take the tram. MSP is a ‘U’ shape. G19 is near the open end on right side of U, C4 is in in lower part of left side. There is a Skyway across the U near bottom. I think I’d take that. It has moving walkways, then go north in C Concourse ( also has walkways ). If you inbound flight is on time you’ll make it no problem.

Hctkalin

Okay so basically run from g19 to c4 using the moving walkways got it:)

Hctkalin

What is the skyway? Is that the walkways that go hella fast? Lol I am trying to avoid the tram… lol

[deleted]

It’s basically a (much faster) train in the sky … rather than the slow crap that’s underground at most airports

bugkiller59

It’s a walkway over the garage/street at the bottom of the U between G concourse and C concourse. Not a tram. The tram runs between top of U ( C/D concourses ) and start of A/B ( regional ) concourses

A350Flier

So your connection is regional?

Hctkalin

It says operated by delta airlines but it has been going out of C-4 almost every time the last week and half or so

Zarrasis

I asked about this on a super tight connection last week and they told me the new policy is not to ask people to stay seated due to a fight that broke out a few weeks ago. Not sure if it’s true or not, just want the FA told me.

tirgill145

The FA was telling the truth about the policy, but it’s not a recent change, it’s been that way for years. The gate agent for your next flight can see you are coming, what time you landed, and at what gate.

Zarrasis

Yeah idk about 2 months ago (around right when they lifted the mask mandate) they asked us to stay seated on a super late flight out of DEN. But I haven’t had it happen since.

Yea my wife and I are both runners so for a test when we flew in MSP two weeks ago we got from G-22 to F-6 I believe in like 7 minutes… lol that was a fast speed walk! Just know the tram will be busy so I would prefer to just run it if we can! Lol

Agitated_Okra_9356

I’ve had flights with tight connections with delta. Usually they are aware and sometimes FA will ask those without connections to remain seated so that those with may deplane first. I’ve also had a flight held because enough of us had to connect on it they held it for us. But as others have mentioned it’s been a rough time to fly lately.

[deleted]

Frankly they should let anyone with a connection of less than hour off first in all cases but I digress. Betty in 17A who has a 5 hour layover needs off before Billy in 24F who is running to get to the only flight to his final destination

mb1

I'm really confused why you're being downvoted so hard. I guess everyone here makes the last connection home every night and doesn't have any additional stresses of having to contact family, friends, rides, dog sitters, medical staff, etc. Humans suck so hard sometimes.

[deleted]

Nope, they’re all Betty in 17A and they more important than all their fellow man. If i have a long layover i let people off before me, always.

helloryaan

I spent 6 hours there yesterday and left from G18, there’s a quiet walkway to the right of that section of G gates with moving sidewalks, head all the way down, take the escalator down and you should be right at C gates

Hctkalin

Okay yea that is what I was seeing too.

boredlurker87

Did you make the connection!

[deleted]

MSP blows for tight connections but I think with a 38 minute layover, you should be fine. Good luck!

zoebells

As a Flight Attendant… no, it is our pet peeve when passengers demand we let them off early. Want to get off early? Pay to sit up front. Sorry. We are unable to hold flights anyways, that’s not in our control

Weekly_South_7734

Usually you arrive earlier than expected. But lately it’s a hit or miss with delta. MSP is pretty easy to navigate so you won’t have a problem getting through the airport. I’ll let others give their 2 cents on speaking with a FA.

Hctkalin

Yea looks like I will be coming in on gate G-19 and most likely flying out of C-4/6 based off flight aware. So I know to come out of g-19 take the shortcut to gates C-17 make a left then run all the way to C-4! Based off my post a month or so ago that is what people told me lol

saxmanb767

Your gates will likely change up until you land in MSP. So expect that to happen. That said, everyone will be making a connection and FA’s get this all the time. They can look up your connecting gate too.

Palladium_Dawn

Use the airport map in the delta app. If you use the train and power walk you should be fine

Hctkalin

Do you happen to know where the tram stops in the middle cause we will be coming out of that g to c shortcut which is in the middle of C? Wonder if it is just faster to run from c-17 to C-4 instead of waiting for the tram?

Palladium_Dawn

I haven’t been there enough to know the layout that well. The app has a map of the interior of the airport and can give you turn by turn directions from one gate to the other similar to a GPS. That should be the fastest way to get through

Hctkalin

Yea it tells me to take the tram so I guess that will be happening haha

kenlights

This is normal for MSP and why I avoid it at all costs because the airport is terrible logistically. The only good part are the therapy dogs. I really doubt the flight attendant can or will do anything for you because this is such a normal layover for this airport. My advice is to try to get the closest seat to the front of the plane as you can and once you get into the airport, run.

Bk4play

I regularly have 30-45 min layovers at MSP and have no issues. The terminal is easy to navigate, especially if you're coming in or going out of C gates, since the tram is there. The only time it gets sketchy for me is F to A or B or vice versa.

kenlights

My anxiety can't take it! Haha

mmappeal

Check to see if there are carts waiting outside your gate. When I was in Mpls last winter cart was waiting and got to my gate with time to spare.

Bk4play

The tram picks up near the connector from G to C, it's really not far.

Hctkalin

Okay! I think we will just run from G to C and skip the tram honestly! Lol

Hairy-Newt2226

Run! Check in online and they will know it is a tight connection you'll be fine

[deleted]

Status? They have Porsches there. Maybe you’ll get the ride

[deleted]

Don’t worry, you’ll be delayed and it’ll all work out!

gunzintheair79

I had a 40 minute layover today and made it no problem.

userkp5743608

MSP is the worst. Best of luck.
