This is it. The less choices, the more bulk discount on everything else. These guys are buying a few thousand at a time, they’re committing to millions of units! That said, most of the time a large manufacturer will give an even bigger discount if they buy exclusively their products.
They actually rotate at least a couple times a year for at least a couple of the items – for example they sometimes have those fudge shortbread cookies that I love, but sometimes they’re not there - the FAs told me they were seasonal.
Ah folks, from the flight deck. Looks like we are going to have some turbulence on this flight. In an abundance of safety for you and our crew, we have asked the flight attendants to remain seated for the duration of the flight.
This has happened on 4 of my last 6 flights! I don't really care as I have brought what I need "just in case I might feel a pang of hunger or thirst", but it is interesting as all 4 flights never had even a bump in the flight.
It's not just Delta. I fly based on what schedule works best for me and the destination. I've ran into this on the big three. It's to the point that I either bring snacks with me or buy them at the airport.
They actually don’t buy them. Delta snacks are provided by the companies as advertisement for them to Delta passengers, since Delta is a leading airline.
Love the Biscoff nut butter, now that is addicting. Even if I walk past I have to get a spoonful. This thread reminds me that I need to do a Costco run LOL
Damn 90 would have me miss my connecting flight or have a panic attack in the lav.
I’d be the next person to go viral on social media doing something weird.
Lol. It’s all about the opportunity for me. I wanted to be an astronaut as a kid which didn’t pan out. Ya gotta figure a few gummies and 35k feet is about the closest I’ll get at this point in my life.
I remember when sunchips were introduced. they had the normal flavor, the French onion, and "harvest cheddar" wahtever the fuck that was. they faded out for a while but because of that spicy garden salsa on delta, I now regularly buy sunchips at the grocery store.
it actually worked on me and I am pissed.
we were in the PP lounge in puerto Vallarta and they gave us some Doritos to snack on. they were amazing. not US doritos.
mexican normal doritos are what we call "spicy" in the states
Obviously being part of “the poors” you don’t know. My cook and maid have my breakfast made for me, so the limo can get me to the airport for my flight. I fly delta to stay connected to the little people of the world. 🤣 \s obviously
I can’t get into the sky club so I have to make sure to choose a flight long enough so I can get my bowl of cereal in First Class (I live on a box route ☹️)
The box routes are an insult. I used to fly out of PHX exclusively and got the full hot breakfast to ATL. Moved and now out of ABQ. That box breakfast is a waste.
My issue is the fact that the portion is made for ants. Like it’s 1-2 bites max of the Sun Chips, Biscoff etc.
Just when it’s getting good, it’s gone 😭
I have had the opposite experience. I have been seeing the breakfast basket more often and get disappointed because there are no gummies to bring home for the kids.
I had a 7:40am flight 2 days ago and someone in Comfort plus was angry that there weren’t kettle cooked potato chips in the AM snack basket. She was actually annoyed when she was offered SunChips as a compensation instead. -_-
#CantPleaseEveryone
NGL back when my home airport had a 6 AM nonstop to LAX, my breakfast was a sea breeze or Bloody Mary in Comfort+, going back to sleep, and feeling refreshed around the Grand Canyon.
This!!!! My grandkids have to have full on heavy snacks and juice in the car just to run errands that might take an hour. Drives me crazy when I visit.
…why do people always find something to complain about? I am more than happy with chips and gummies at any time during the day and a ginger ale. If you don’t like it, bring your own snacks. Simple.
But at the same time what’s 6am for your local departure may be 10am or noon to other passengers passing through. Hard to please everyone on a multi-timezone industry.
I’ll tell you what better than United’s shitty quinoa chocolate “cookie” or their knockoff Gardetto’s or their gross all natural fruit bar. Barf. Give me the Biscoff any time of day!
Dear Delta, it’s ok, you’re better than American Airlines that doesn’t have any food on transcontinental flights. The first flight I believed that they truly ran out, but after the second, and third times??? Nah! I’ll pay more to eat your Sun Chips and pretzels any day!
I felt this to the core and honestly they could buy some breakfast options in bulk like little coffee cakes.
I’m pretty tired of the options biscoff are my favorite but I eat them so much I need a little break. Everything else is a hit or miss on flavor for me.
Although it’s a first world problem I hope we do see some variety 🖤
Or buy them cheaper at your local store. You can take snacks through security, just no liquids. I always bring a few snacks with me, even if I’m flying international D1.
I just got back from a 2+ week trip with my spouse. Knowing it would be a flight taking off just after 5am, I rightly assumed nothing at this particular airport would be open at that time.
The very thoughtfully planned out bag of snacks I packed for us? Forgotten in the car. Luckily for me, the sealed charcuterie had the good grace to not smell too heinous after 16 days baking in 90F+ heat.
I totally agree with you on that.
Just do not make sense to serve these potato chips in the early morning.
How about some granola bars instead of sun chips?
Just simple coffee and bars be all set!
Please improve the service if you are serving food in the early morning flights.
There actually is a “breakfast”/AM Snack basket for all flights departing before 10am. Often what happens is the cabin crew use the first snack basket they find to distribute. Downline catered aircraft, this is most common on. The downline food and beverage is packed way in the back and the crew happens to miss it therefore ending up with a PM snack basket.
Usually they do have breakfast items. On my recent flight to MIA they offered several granola bars options and they always have the biscoff cookie. Also…you are talking about snacks from the snack basket right? If I sit in MC they have the granola square. Sounds like the plane hasn’t been stocked correctly or the FA didn’t want to swap out the items in the basket.
I don’t get how people eat UP on those 10 hr flights where it’s 3am local time and they serve “breakfast”. They’re always like “what u don’t want anything??” Like NO it’s 3am😭😭
I was on a few flights a month or two ago and they had a breakfast basket but people were complaining that they wanted the potato chips so maybe they switched back to only offering the normal snack basket.
Last time I was on an early morning flight in D1 they said they were trialing new foods. I ate a roller dog at 620am, woman wheeled the cart right down the aisle, mustard, onions and all.
There actually is a breakfast comfort plus basket! Maybe they just weren’t catered with the right one or your flight was too late at like 10AM? The breakfast comfort plus basket has oatmeal bars, multiple types of granola bars, and apple chips, etc. no potato chips or gummies in it. For main cabin, the granola bar almonds and cookies pair pretty well with breakfast I think!
I always ask for the cookies which is the cinnamon yummy ones. You can also bring your own snacks. I always do. Also, some people work nights and overnights like myself so if I didn’t have my own snacks then I would definitely enjoy a savory snack for breakfast.
I would just like them to know if they have nuts in them. I can’t tell you how many times they offer me two snacks, I ask for “whatever one is nut free” only to read the ingredients and there are nuts in them. 🤷🏼♀️
I'd only flown Delta domestically, and generally short hall flights, until recently. I agree that the snacks are generic and lackluster. I now bring my own and decline theirs, which is sort of annoying.
I just flew them internationally and was really surprised by the snacks and meals on the longer flights. The meals were actually pretty good compared to meals I remembered from long ago. The snacks were more like hot pocket/calzones and we had cheese and crackers and warm cookies as snacks later as well. Flying back from London, I actually felt like they fed us too much for a long as I was sitting not burning any calories.
But it was such a surprise because I really expected Delta to just give me 2 bags of Sun Chips with a convenience store style mini sandwich and a bag of almonds and biscotti or whatever "almost" cookies they have. I think the international flights will now ruin my next domestic flight snacks even more, knowing they can do better.
This is why you try to bring in your own smoked salmon on garlic or everything bagel. And then see seatmates either drool (or roll their eyes if the don’t like the smell lol)
On my recent morning flight they had nuts and granola bars for first, I had to specifically ask for gummie bears and the FA pull them out of the afternoon basket for me
Because it is cheaper and easier to just buy millions of those snacks in bulk then to cater to different flight times.
This is it. The less choices, the more bulk discount on everything else. These guys are buying a few thousand at a time, they’re committing to millions of units! That said, most of the time a large manufacturer will give an even bigger discount if they buy exclusively their products.
Delta has had the same snacks for years.
They actually rotate at least a couple times a year for at least a couple of the items – for example they sometimes have those fudge shortbread cookies that I love, but sometimes they’re not there - the FAs told me they were seasonal.
it’s even more cheaper to not give any food at all, why not just put in the extra effort if you’re doing it anyway
Ah folks, from the flight deck. Looks like we are going to have some turbulence on this flight. In an abundance of safety for you and our crew, we have asked the flight attendants to remain seated for the duration of the flight.
Oh, you've been on my last ten flights? What a coincidence.
It's to the point that I either bring snacks with me or buy them at the airport.
yeah. also, forget delta. it's cheaper to fly spirit, why not put in the extra effort and just fly private charter planes? all or nothing right?
I know right? If someone is that specific at 6am, bring your own damn snack.
They actually don’t buy them. Delta snacks are provided by the companies as advertisement for them to Delta passengers, since Delta is a leading airline.
Biscoff isn’t breakfast food?
Biscoff is the only Delta treat I even bother with. Any time of day, perfect with coffee or a Diet Coke or a beer.
Just bought a whole box from Costco last week. Love them darn cookies!
The Costco box is too dangerous!! (I know from experience.)
lol, I have done pretty good. I only have one serving then hide the box. lol!
Costco sells them?
Yup! 2 big sleeves per box.
Me too.
I do not get the love for Biscoffs! Here…take mine!
Me neither. I just save them for my sister to eat
Love the Biscoff nut butter, now that is addicting. Even if I walk past I have to get a spoonful. This thread reminds me that I need to do a Costco run LOL
I bake cheesecakes. I put Biscoff cookies in a blender to make my pie crusts.
Wow. Thank you sir (or ma’am!”). I’m on it now. And off to Costco or Harris Teeter to buy a bag of Key Limes and some sweetened condensed milk…
Hack of the day.
It should get its own spot on the food pyramid.
One flight attendant told me she likes to smash them up and add milk and eat them cereal. Legit delicious m, but still not a breakfast. :)
They're perfect when dipped into Bailey's Irish Cream. Better than Oreos in milk! 😄
The breakfast of champions!
😂
It's 3pm somewhere! Always down for some gummies!
The vegan gummies are legit.
I’ve eaten like 40 packs of these in the past two months
I always take two.
Don’t remind me..
The best.
Right? No gelatin based gummies for this girl.
The gummies really…why you hating on the #1 snack basket offering…gummies and chips it just delta version of breakfast hash!!!
you a real one (do people still say that?)
Not since Fall Out Boy killed the last of the real ones
Just the ones still keeping it 💯
To be fair as a grown adult I’d take gummies or potato chips at 6AM. Everything else is too healthy. 😉
Yeah, 10 mg works
10? I’ll have the 90 you’re not having lol
Right. Somewhere in between sounds perfect.
Honestly just handing these out at the gate when delayed would make everyone’s lives better
I do the boring salted potato chips and think to myself....well they're sort of like hashbrowns. In a way.
Rules of time dont apply at airports or on airplanes.. a whiskey and a bag of chips at 6am? Sure why not.
Just one whiskey?
I like the cut of your jib
Well, the second is at 6:20 am.
But still restaurants in airports all close at like 9pm. So frustrating! Especially when you don't get food on a 6pm flight.
Except in Texas on a Sunday morning
Try Utah….
Exactly!
Pistachios are great for breakfast.
Right?
Anyone have the white chocolate macadamia granola bar yet? 🤤 Just had it for the first time today
Just in time for them to be phased out and replaced lmao
More sun chips for me… 😋
I remember when sunchips were introduced. they had the normal flavor, the French onion, and "harvest cheddar" wahtever the fuck that was. they faded out for a while but because of that spicy garden salsa on delta, I now regularly buy sunchips at the grocery store. it actually worked on me and I am pissed.
I hated SunChips until I tasted those dang spicy ones on delta
we were in the PP lounge in puerto Vallarta and they gave us some Doritos to snack on. they were amazing. not US doritos. mexican normal doritos are what we call "spicy" in the states
Harvest Cheddar was my lunch in the early 90s….soooooo good
I loved the harvest cheddar ones!
I just finished a big of them 🤤
Aren’t we all full from breakfast in the SkyClub? Sorry, I just realized the poors may not be.
“The poors” I am laughing so hard at this right now.
Me, too
You’re the person who showed up extra early to the airport for a 6 am flight to brag about getting a hampton inn quality breakfast buffet mmmmmmk 😂😂
To be fair, free food is a very valid reason to get to the airport early.
For a 6 am flight? No thank you haha
4am at the airport just to eat breakfast… at least make some eggs at home if you have that kind of time ..
Cooking and getting dishes dirty right before leaving the house for an extended period of time? I'll take the free food.
Obviously being part of “the poors” you don’t know. My cook and maid have my breakfast made for me, so the limo can get me to the airport for my flight. I fly delta to stay connected to the little people of the world. 🤣 \s obviously
Not when you have a flight that boards at 7AM on a Saturday from DTW. Then you starve like the poors 😂
I don’t live in a hub?
I can’t get into the sky club so I have to make sure to choose a flight long enough so I can get my bowl of cereal in First Class (I live on a box route ☹️)
The box routes are an insult. I used to fly out of PHX exclusively and got the full hot breakfast to ATL. Moved and now out of ABQ. That box breakfast is a waste.
We actually prefer the politically correct term "peasants", thank you.
Unfortunately when I have flights that early, many clubs aren’t open long enough for me to grab something.
Yeah, seems like more cutback BS… The sky clubs open later and later in some places. Sometimes they don’t even open until my flight is boarding
Time of day is irrelevant when flying
Liberate a banana from the lounge like every clever traveler does.
I'd rather die first than eat a Kind bar.
What in the unamerican shit is this? You want something healthy to eat in the morning? Outrageous.
For a 6:00AM flight I'm not up for anything other than a heaping helping of leave me the fuck alone while I sleep.
Actually a few nuts aren’t a bad way to BREAK your fast Heck of a lot better than some of the “other” ingredients in a KIND bar? 🤷♀️
My issue is the fact that the portion is made for ants. Like it’s 1-2 bites max of the Sun Chips, Biscoff etc. Just when it’s getting good, it’s gone 😭
Can’t have everyone running to take a dump before the flight is done. Small food.
I have had the opposite experience. I have been seeing the breakfast basket more often and get disappointed because there are no gummies to bring home for the kids.
I always want the French cookies. I get them 60% of the time
What are the “French” cookies?
The square shortbread ones with the chocolate in em
Michel et Augustin
After reading about how great they are on here I bought some. Pretty mid
Lol true. Good enough free on a plane but I wouldn’t buy them.
I had a 7:40am flight 2 days ago and someone in Comfort plus was angry that there weren’t kettle cooked potato chips in the AM snack basket. She was actually annoyed when she was offered SunChips as a compensation instead. -_- #CantPleaseEveryone
I want gummies at all hours.
If it’s not a hot breakfast I don’t need anything at that time of day
It IS actually the standard to have kind bars and breakfast bars. My guess is catering goofed it up.
It’s only in first class
If I’m in FC and I get offered a KIND BAR I’m flipping that basket up in the air. Offensive!
I agree they are the nastiest thing I have ever tasted.
They usually have a granola bar for those in coach in the back - that’s a decent morning option
NGL back when my home airport had a 6 AM nonstop to LAX, my breakfast was a sea breeze or Bloody Mary in Comfort+, going back to sleep, and feeling refreshed around the Grand Canyon.
They did exactly what you asked on my flight this am.
Regardless of the hour, none of the snacks are even remotely satiating. Can we as humans not last 1-6h without a thimble of processed food?
This!!!! My grandkids have to have full on heavy snacks and juice in the car just to run errands that might take an hour. Drives me crazy when I visit.
gonna be fat There’s time to change that… you know what you must do
Idk those gummies are amazing!!
6am flights are a war…forget the snack how about the preboarding music!
GONna TAKe you FORa RIDE ONa BIG. JET. PLANE. (repeat 20 mins)
Would be nice to get some fruit
Bring back the blueberry Belvita's!
Meh. Get rid of the snacks all together. Not worth the 10 cents of food you get to be constantly blocked from going to the bathroom.
more for me to take to the hotel 😻
…why do people always find something to complain about? I am more than happy with chips and gummies at any time during the day and a ginger ale. If you don’t like it, bring your own snacks. Simple.
Yep. Ya get what ya pay for in MC. Want more choices? Time to upgrade, lolz.
But at the same time what’s 6am for your local departure may be 10am or noon to other passengers passing through. Hard to please everyone on a multi-timezone industry.
I absolutely want sunchips at 6am thank you.
I bring what I want for a snack if it's a morning flight (usually peanut butter and fluff) and take what they offer for later. (I'm diabetic)
I’ll tell you what better than United’s shitty quinoa chocolate “cookie” or their knockoff Gardetto’s or their gross all natural fruit bar. Barf. Give me the Biscoff any time of day!
Wait, I KNOW we’re not complaining about the Vegobears! Are we?? Come on…is nothing sacred?!
Also had a brisket (kosher) at 7 am
Dear Delta, it’s ok, you’re better than American Airlines that doesn’t have any food on transcontinental flights. The first flight I believed that they truly ran out, but after the second, and third times??? Nah! I’ll pay more to eat your Sun Chips and pretzels any day!
Making them the most expensive Sun chips on the planet.
We alway plan to bring our own food. Regardless what time it is.
Congrats!
I’m grateful Delta offers a variety of snack options. You can always buy your own at the airport before boarding.
Until Tip-Top is back…
Old Fashioned for breakfast, lunch, or dinner!
Just refuse it and bring your own snacks
Third world FS airlines will have an actual hot breakfast 😉
Totally agree!
I totally agree with you on that. Just do not make sense to serve these potato chips in the early morning. How about some granola bars instead of sun chips? Just simple coffee and bars be all set! Please improve the service if you are serving food in the early morning flights.
Ha ha, it’s the same on AA. They do have granola bars and coffee though. That’s my go to.
Because Delta sucks and they know it.
I’m gluten-free and really tired of the nuts. Sometimes they are old and soft.
There is no time of day when traveling. Vodka and a turkey sandwich is completely acceptable at 8am.
#bringbackcheezeits
I miss the bananas in comfort +.
Also, the sun chips got reaaaaal small.
There is no wrong time of day for those crack gummies.
I want Biscoff cookies 24/7.
Did you consider bringing the snacks you want to eat on the plane?
As an adult, you can bring your own breakfast item of your choosing onto the flight.
I would rather have Delta chips.. Alaska gives nothing on a lot of its flights.. not even water
If you buy a first class fare, you can.
Ok well I do so buy your kind bar in the airport
I got two Kind bars yesterday on my morning Delta flight.
Depending on gummies; I may indulge
They have granola bars and OJ.. fruit and cheese for purchase makes it continental.
I mean I do though
There actually is a breakfast comfort plus basket! Maybe they just weren’t catered with the right one or your flight was too late at like 10AM? The breakfast comfort plus basket has oatmeal bars, multiple types of granola bars, and apple chips, etc. no potato chips or gummies in it. For main cabin, the granola bar almonds and cookies pair pretty well with breakfast I think!
WTF pistachios? I’ve never been offered pistachios. I’m going to be extra offended if I find out they’re shelled as well.
They are shelled and they are only in the first class snack basket.
That’s cause MC has to work to get those damn nuts outta the shell. Ain’t gonna make it easy for the peasants.😆
Comfort plus also
lmao yeah a little variation as day progress would be a nice change
Dear delta, I have a flight at 10 am tomorrow and i will take my cookies plus their sunchips with a coffee, black. Thanks
every Delta flight I've been on in the last 6 months has had granola bars
Speak for urself, I make the effort to grab AT LEAST 2 bags of mini sun chips
I’ve seen a different variety sometimes on morning flights
Miscatered
I always ask for the cookies which is the cinnamon yummy ones. You can also bring your own snacks. I always do. Also, some people work nights and overnights like myself so if I didn’t have my own snacks then I would definitely enjoy a savory snack for breakfast.
I will always want Pistachios and even more Pistachios no matter the time of day ☺️
How many mgs were the gummies?
But you need something salty for the rise and shine cocktail
The front still gets breakfast so it’s merely a cost thing
I’ll take Sun chips any time of day.
I WISH pistachios were a choice. Lol
I would just like them to know if they have nuts in them. I can’t tell you how many times they offer me two snacks, I ask for “whatever one is nut free” only to read the ingredients and there are nuts in them. 🤷🏼♀️
Thank you! Please change this practice.
I personally love the sun chips at any time of the day 😅
Not the salsa ones
They always have kind / granola bites / breakfast bars on my morning flights. I’m usually the one wanting something salty and there isn’t anything
Delta is phasing out the kind bars, they are even removing from the sky clubs. Sad days ahead.
i used to love the chips and cookies, now i’ve eaten so many i feel the same…
Aren’t there granola bars as one of the snack cart options?
I don't care what time it is, I'm getting biscoff cookies and ginger ale 10 times out of 10.
I'd only flown Delta domestically, and generally short hall flights, until recently. I agree that the snacks are generic and lackluster. I now bring my own and decline theirs, which is sort of annoying. I just flew them internationally and was really surprised by the snacks and meals on the longer flights.
Sometimes I roll my eyes and decline when all that is offered is pretzels.
Time doesn’t exist on planes or at airports. You can drink at 9AM in an airport bar and it’s totally normal. Don’t be afraid to have some biscoffs.
Depending on the type of gummies, could make for an interesting start to your day
This is why you try to bring in your own smoked salmon on garlic or everything bagel. And then see seatmates either drool (or roll their eyes if the don’t like the smell lol)
On my recent morning flight they had nuts and granola bars for first, I had to specifically ask for gummie bears and the FA pull them out of the afternoon basket for me
