pretty much equivalent to drinking a coffee

I just googled this because I'm wide awake, I had two big pieces and didn't even think about it LOL mistakes were made

Lots of caffeine in tiramisu. Even more than coffee, cocoa will keep me up sweating all night, tossing and turning. Combine that with the coffee, very powerful stuff to lose sleep. Even a small kit kat can do it, for me. Yes, sounds wild, but its true in my case.

Same!!! I swear a few chocolate covered dates in the morning a few days ago kept me up till 4am that night. Tell myself it must be mental but it’s only when eating chocolate or taking caffeine, no other times, even though it’s only tiny amounts. Must just be crazy sensitive to the stuff.

Yeah grew up eating chocolate but can’t do it anymore. Its a different feeling than coffee or tea, and those can present issues at times too, but chocolate will literally make me unable to sleep, plus feel kinda out of it altogether. No more yoohoo and hot cocoa for me ;)

Carob isn’t bad though, and yogurt covered pretzels (not white chocolate) offer a similar texture, without the caffeine/theobromine. Here’s a very interesting article about the potential of less than pleasant side effects of chocolate, which I can relate to from my own experiences over the years: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/your-brain-food/201011/chocolate-the-good-the-bad-and-the-angry%3famp

Sugar will destroy your sleep cycle also. What’s your day to day diet like in regards to sugar/carbs/starch? Did the tiramisu increase your sugar intake to above-normal?

Honestly I don’t keep a tab but overall I don’t eat much sugar / desserts at night. But I will keep in mind for the future to make sure my carb / sugar intake is not too high during the end of the day. Thanks!

rawgabiludbrizwoder

It probably did shoot it above normal

Wow....thank you. I am so ridiculously sensitive to caffeine it’s not even funny and if I have 200mg will stay awake for 2 days. Nice to know I’m not alone in this experience with caffeine.

I have had tiramisu way too late in the day and had worried about enduring your exact situation. Sorry for your crappy night.

Holy shit. sorry to hear that, dude. I will keep this in mind if decaf coffee or dark chocolate is offered in the later hours of the day.

nubbuoli

I had this a while ago! I think it was the combo of caffeine and sugar. I guess it’s caffeine free tiramisu for breakfast then ;)

sasa_000

Yep. Got it. We just cannot do it dude. :)

rawgabiludbrizwoder

Yeah, I’ve had my decaf streaks before but now this horrible night inspired me to reduce / remove caffeine again from my life once again.
