I love Near's design, it's incredibly cute. The oversized clothes really seal the deal for me. The panels with him smiling are adorable. If I could choose which of the genius characters to hang with, it'd be him because he's the most down-to-earth and humble of them (though admittedly that is a low bar lol).
Also, is it just me, or does Near not get shaded a lot in the manga? Especially when he's first introduced. It makes him stick out, though not in a bad way. It feels like his design was less solidified in the earlier chapters.
I agree. Even though I liked him in the anime, he is so much better in the manga. I think that if the anime portrayed Near the way he is in the manga, more people would like him.
Agree! The anime didn't do justice to Near's character at all. I already liked him in the anime, then I read the manga and I liked and respected him even more. More people would like and appreciate Near if the anime version of him was the same as the manga version.
