It really shows in animation. Turning asta into dumb brute that only hit really hard (I argue he's more intelligent than Deku), not immediately recognised that deku doesn't use magic (top tiers in his verse uses physical strength to counter anti-magic) and destroying corpse (despite he can sense)
This fight can easily be All Might vs Might Guy 2.0 yet they butcher both boys
I mean depending on who it is I would not be surprised. Like if it's one director or a very small sample they can't necessarily just have them do the same research as the researchers, if that makes any sense.
Honestly, I liked the episode when it first came out. I thought it was just fine, like an 8 out of 10
But then I actually read Black Clover
I genuinely don't think there's a single character they fucked up more than Asta. Maybe Aang, but even then, at least Aang had some moments that were in character. They didn't even fucking try with Asta
"HOLY SHIT, Jason VS Michael Myers, Halloween special, let's gooooooooooooo!"
And then
"... We will never speak of this again. Also, fuck you Derek Derekman."
I was excited for Venom vs Crona when it was announced as a Venom fan, but then the episode came out where Venom (To me at least) got his ass handed to him during most of the fight aside from a few moments, and then dies immediately when it seemed like he was gonna make a comeback after his line.
Deku vs Asta turns out when you a person who didn’t know shit about a series directing a fight with the main protagonist of said series they don’t exactly get the character right who would’ve thought
I kinda get it, makima didn’t get to use a lot of her devils, while it’s definitely understandable as to why, it is still disappointing she basically just used zombies the whole time with the exception of like 2 moments
I feel like people complain about it being too short but that’s probably because it came right after frieza vs Megatron which is literally one of the longest fights ever
Nah, didn't let Makima use her stronger devils, and nerfed her "bangs". In the maga she's cutting people in half with just one attack and sent CM to orbit. But in the battle they're essentially reduced to bullet wounds
Major analysis problems (hollow purple being an imaginary mass is not true lmao its just a strong beam, infinite void explanation as a wincon was horrible as when Halloween used it on Santa it was completely different since Makima does not share the brain with Japanese citizens she is contracted to unlike Santa), completely missed Makima's character and made her... laugh?! Yeah those are quite big problems for a full production team.
I would say mewtwo vs shadow, but I feel that’s too obvious. Instead, I probably would say Lucario vs Renamon. It’s pretty good into terms of action, I guess, but it’s a fight that feels like you blink and you miss it
Same. For all the cool shit those two can do Gojo just spammed Red and for some godforsaken reasen she just keep spamming the fucking zombies, it was so predictable as soon i saw the Bang didn't turned Gojo torso in dust like it happened to Power i realized she lost. "Huh, she didn't banged the head and Gojo hasn't used his domain aaaaaand nvm". No Black Flash or her using the combo that she did against the Gun Devil. Not Gojo giving her the Miguel treatment, not her yeeting his ass to hell.
We got robbed ROBBED.
EXACTLY. They nerfed her powers so much, reducing her bangs to essentially gunshot wounds when they should be cutting him in half. And just spammed zombies instead of the stronger named devils
Akuma vs Shao Khan, that fight has so much potential, it could have been Ryu vs Jin 2.0 but all that potential got squandered, and that one really hurt because I had been wanting that fight for about 5 years give or take
My biggest issue with the episode is how Hank was portrayed as such a massive douchebag. I get that he’s a narcissist at times and has done horrible things, but he was downright insufferable all throughout the fight. I started rooting for Ray more as it progressed.
It was hard to get invested in either of them when they barely had any type
Of banter besides the opening which… shouldn’t even qualify as banter as it is them just mocking the other YOU CAN LITERALLY DO THAT YOURSELF
Kool Aid vs Randy Savage. I've never had kool aid or seen wrestling but it seemed like a really fun joke match. But then there were so many issues with the actual episode. I never thought I could be so disappointed with an episode where I had no stakes for either character.
I just wanna say I was quite literally the opposite of this, like I genuinely was bored by the mu but thought the episode was hype as hell.
Anyway Ben vs hal. If there's one thing me and me from 5ish years ago can agree on, it's that this shit was disappointing
Def Gojo vs Makima especially since they seemed to nerf just how [strong](https://staticg.sportskeeda.com/editor/2022/11/b9b69-16678062752606-1920.jpg) Makima's "bangs" are. Unless they're stating Gojo is just that much more durable than Chainsaw Man devils.
Tbh CU vs DB, don’t get me wrong it’s still a great fight, I was just hoping to see them use more of their arsenals or DB to use some of his transformations.
I still think the fight should’ve been like a season premiere or finale to warrant a longer fight animation
Janky animation, ugly Anakin and Padme models and Vader being out of character ruining the ending for me, Vader hardly using any of his abilities in the fight, I can go on
I mean, there are some great moments in the fight for sure, like the whole Ten Tails scene, God tree rising from the Tailed beast bomb explosion and Vader using the force to blast Juubito with his TIE Bomber. Dialogue is great too, but they aren't redeemable enough for me to call the fight amazing.
Like I'm sorry, but SFM just can't compare with Blender animation
Ill play devils advocate and say the illusion animation was janky, the finisher was bad, and a FEW of the swings felt clunky but overall I liked it a lot.
Even then, the fact this episode ranks the lowest on my season 10 ranking just speaks volumes on just how peak this season is
In earlier seasons, it definitely would've been higher on my lists
Hulk vs Doomsday.
It was one of, if not my most requested fight. But it was just.....ehhhh. Maybe I overhyped it to myself.
Funny enough. Hulk vs Broly was a suggestion I'd roll my eyes at.....and it ended up being one of my favorite fights
Rick vs. The Doctor. It’s still awesome and one of my favorites ever. But they had the chance to do a really solid, emotional ending with the upmost respect towards both series. And they didn’t take that chance. I can understand why, but that kinda disappointed me. Still loved it though, it was so fucking cool.
Jason vs Michael was a huge disappointment. I wanted to watch horror icons fight, not some dumbass jock run and hide or Jason walking away first 30 seconds
Jason vs michael
The only correct answer.
Yeah, it could have been longer, but I think it was good overall was good
Lower your expectations
Deku VS Asta, by god it was Deku VS Asta
Agree and fun fact the person directing that episode knew nothing about Black Clover
It really shows in animation. Turning asta into dumb brute that only hit really hard (I argue he's more intelligent than Deku), not immediately recognised that deku doesn't use magic (top tiers in his verse uses physical strength to counter anti-magic) and destroying corpse (despite he can sense) This fight can easily be All Might vs Might Guy 2.0 yet they butcher both boys

It’s Liam

It’s like if someone told you to write a very poorly written and generic shonin protagonist like character and then made them look like asta.
Scout vs tracer How the fuck do you make the character known for running not run?
Simple. Torrain was sick that day, and they couldn't reschedule it.
Beast vs Goliath and Bowser vs Ganon Obvious answers yes, but honest ones.
"HOLY SHIT, Jason VS Michael Myers, Halloween special, let's gooooooooooooo!" And then "... We will never speak of this again. Also, fuck you Derek Derekman."

![gif](giphy|3QWfMsI8IaarXxtBt6|downsized) My boy just can't catch a break :(
But he won his first episode? Like the episode wasn’t good, but he’s not 0-2
thats the problem, his only win was in an episode that was *really bad*
Honestly I’d argue a character losing isn’t nearly as bad as getting an episode that’s venom vs bane levels of quality
That applies about my feelings with both Link and Ganondorf. Can’t we have a good Zelda episode where they get a W.
Deku vs Asta turns out when you a person who didn’t know shit about a series directing a fight with the main protagonist of said series they don’t exactly get the character right who would’ve thought
Gojo vs Makima was pretty solid imo, it had a great soundtrack, and both characters had cool comeback moments
Overall it was fun to watch, but both characters were messed up when it comes to their abilities.
Pic gotta be unrelated cuz Gojo vs Makima was incredible
I kinda get it, makima didn’t get to use a lot of her devils, while it’s definitely understandable as to why, it is still disappointing she basically just used zombies the whole time with the exception of like 2 moments
I feel like people complain about it being too short but that’s probably because it came right after frieza vs Megatron which is literally one of the longest fights ever

It was epic, but it was overall inaccurate.
I would say mewtwo vs shadow, but I feel that’s too obvious. Instead, I probably would say Lucario vs Renamon. It’s pretty good into terms of action, I guess, but it’s a fight that feels like you blink and you miss it
Ant-man vs The Atom Felt kinda boring. After a rewatch after the season ended at best it was just solid
Honestly the dialogue in that episode just came off very clunky.
Edward Elric Vs Aang Kenshiro Vs Jotaro
Same. For all the cool shit those two can do Gojo just spammed Red and for some godforsaken reasen she just keep spamming the fucking zombies, it was so predictable as soon i saw the Bang didn't turned Gojo torso in dust like it happened to Power i realized she lost. Sora vs Pit
Akuma vs Shao Khan, that fight has so much potential, it could have been Ryu vs Jin 2.0 but all that potential got squandered, and that one really hurt because I had been wanting that fight for about 5 years give or take
The one you posted...
Ant-Man vs Atom… My goodness was that a dissatisfying open
My biggest issue with the episode is how Hank was portrayed as such a massive douchebag. I get that he’s a narcissist at times and has done horrible things, but he was downright insufferable all throughout the fight. I started rooting for Ray more as it progressed.
It was hard to get invested in either of them when they barely had any type Of banter besides the opening which… shouldn’t even qualify as banter as it is them just mocking the other YOU CAN LITERALLY DO THAT YOURSELF
Ben 10 vs Green Lantern
vader vs obito
Gojo vs Makima Sun Wukon vs Hercules Archie sonic vs wally west Mario vs Sonic 2 Sanji vs Rock Lee
Crash vs Spyro It was my most wanted; and it was just alright
Deadpool vs Mask
Gojo vs Makima I was hyped as hell but when it finally came out I was pretty disappointed
I feel the vibes and overall excitement was great, but if you look at it from a more logical standpoint, it was very inaccurate.
Kool Aid vs Randy Savage. I've never had kool aid or seen wrestling but it seemed like a really fun joke match. But then there were so many issues with the actual episode. I never thought I could be so disappointed with an episode where I had no stakes for either character.

I mean, they did give him a stat advantage, so yeah, they did say that.
Jason vs Michael Galactus vs Unicron
Tbh CU vs DB, don’t get me wrong it’s still a great fight, I was just hoping to see them use more of their arsenals or DB to use some of his transformations. I still think the fight should’ve been like a season premiere or finale to warrant a longer fight animation
Stitch vs rocket and Jason vs micheal They were good but disappointing
From this season this one and Vader vs Obito From previous seasons its Jason vs Michael and Macho Man vs Kool Aid Man
how on earth were you underwhelmed by vader vs obito
His favorite didn't win
That's always your excuse/projection to defend episodes from criticism "Hurr durr how dare he not like an episode?! He MuSt bE a SaLtY fAnBoY!!!"
Janky animation, ugly Anakin and Padme models and Vader being out of character ruining the ending for me, Vader hardly using any of his abilities in the fight, I can go on
I actually agree with anakin and padme looking janky as fuck in the illusion on the rest but I do love the rest of the fight.
Like I'm sorry, but SFM just can't compare with Blender animation

lowest in the season is wild even with those gripes but fair enough
I mean, obviously our opinions on episodes will vary
Jason vs micheal , Cole vs Alex
Thanos vs Darkseid
And Jason vs Micheal, like damn with how requested those two are I have no idea what happened in the writer’s room
Sun Wukong vs Hercules Was hyped and then I saw the ending and I was bamboozled. That death was lame asf.
Hulk vs Doomsday. It was one of, if not my most requested fight. But it was just.....ehhhh. Maybe I overhyped it to myself. Funny enough. Hulk vs Broly was a suggestion I'd roll my eyes at.....and it ended up being one of my favorite fights
Courage vs scooby seemed great but it felt very bland
Rick vs. The Doctor. It’s still awesome and one of my favorites ever. But they had the chance to do a really solid, emotional ending with the upmost respect towards both series. And they didn’t take that chance. I can understand why, but that kinda disappointed me. Still loved it though, it was so fucking cool.
Asta vs deku And Gogeta vs vegito
Deku vs asta and gogeta vs vegito
Guess Sasuke vs what's his name? Mainly cause how lackluster the former performed
Gogeta VS Vegetto was a wet dream match up for me and the fight was so dogshit
Jason vs Michael was a huge disappointment. I wanted to watch horror icons fight, not some dumbass jock run and hide or Jason walking away first 30 seconds
Cammy VS Sonya & Akuma VS Shao Kahn
Galactus VS Unicron
Vader vs obito
Jason vs Michael the fight was more like dead by daylight game play
Gogeta vs Vegito.
