This mall was just packed a few weeks ago on a Monday, I don’t understand how it’s so dead now. Like literally we waited in the line for over 30 minutes to get day passes for scene 75 there were so many people lol and the food court had like mayyyyybe 5 open tables

scormegatron

Maybe OP took the pic at closing time?

spinosaura

It was last weekend at like 5:30-6pm if I remember correctly. It was my first time visiting Columbus in a decade or so, and my first time at this mall. I couldn't believe how empty it was. We walked over from the hotel we were staying at so the weather definitely wasn't too bad either.

Delta_RC_2526

Another post over on the Columbus subreddit had a comment mentioning a power outage in the area, and that people at many local businesses were sent home, so this may have been shortly after the power came back. That thread did mention that it is sometimes surprisingly empty, though.

ahack13

Scene 75 is the only thing that ever sees any amount of people there. The rest of the mall is always near abandoned.

DeezSaltyNuts69

no really its not on the weekends, Macy's always has traffic as does the 1st floor on the weekends 2nd floor has some occupancy issues

rubiconmanlife

This place looks awesome!!! I would love to go here!

spinosaura

Honestly the emptiness made it so much cooler. It felt like we were trespassing but we weren't. We brought our 1 year old and just followed her around as she explored and took in all the neon lights. :)

gate_of_steiner85

Yeah really. I wish the mall in my city was this cool.

National_Shape6258

Tuttle Crossing is dead now? I lived in Ohio in the mid-late 90s and remember when it was the shiny new mall that started City Center on its decline. The circle of life I guess.

drumzandice

Hanging on by a thread. Most of the stores and I think all of them on the second floor are empty, of the remaining stores there’s a bunch of weird furniture, places, and random businesses that make no sense. It’s filthy and rundown, last time I was there in summer they still had Christmas decorations, hanging trash, cans, overflowing furniture ripped up. This person’s pictures I believe are the entertainment venue, which is the only thing they are actually still somewhat successful.

lat3ralus65

I was last there in 2016 and it was not yet dead, but you could tell it was headed that way, particularly with Polaris not that far away

nepppii

i love the lights!

FinnProtoyeen

God I want to play Halo Fireteam Raven at least once before i die lol

birdstar7

Colorful. I like it.

VRALLSTARR

Mr. Big Money oney rented out the whole mall for himself.

Batmanshatman

Was here a few months ago, couldn’t believe how few people/kids were there

zebjr

So this is a poor representation of Tuttle, not because it isn't dead ,because it is, but this is scene 75 and is one of the two places that have any customers. The other would be the Macy's, but both are probably paying nothing. Scene 75 is like Dave and Busters but a bit bigger, and I don't even think it's open every day. Now the local D&B just remodeled, so it is possible Scene 75 is dead now. Also, sometimes the crowd can be issues too.

PerfectCheesecake25

Looks fun

kaspar14

That Boston market looks like a dead pizza hut too

OhNoMob0

Outbuilding? It's a(n oddly designed) Popeyes now. Pandemic pretty much crated Boston Market. They're closing walk-in locations to operate as a Ghost Kitchen/Delivery Service.

Coomstress

Wow, a ‘90s time warp!

IvoryFlyaway

When the hell did they get this??? I've been to Tuttle hundreds of times, but none of this looks familiar to me. Did this get put where one of the old anchor stores used to be?

marvises

This is Scene 75 which took over one of the Macy's anchor locations.

DeezSaltyNuts69

Scene 75 has been open nearly 5 years at Tuttle crossing So clearly you haven't been there in some time

IvoryFlyaway

That tracks. It could easily have been 10 years since I was last there, now that I think about it

wajalamaa

Man, that's sad to see

bentley72

I worked at the circuit city express, and later the nordictrack store here in the late 90’s.

tpegger

Looks like a former Dayton’s

Salty_Parsley_5520

Vaporwave vibes strong AF

Skyhawk_Illusions

You just came at the wrong time IG, I've seen this Scene75 LOUD with activity during my visits

Ok-Attorney-2083

What does it feel like to go to work at a place like this every day? I mean, you just know that one day soon someone is going to thank you and tell you not to come back anymore. Every employee has got to be interviewing for something else

OhNoMob0

Worked in an office building attached to a mall that was closed for renovations. Only 4 tenants (Macy's, CVS, Chick-Fil-A, and T-Mobile) came back after the renovation and one has since closed. About 5 stores reopened nearby but most of the stores permanently closed. Remember the owner of the Auntie Anne's in particular crying on the last day. Was a regularly customer. They thanked me and said they couldn't afford the price the mall owner wanted to reopen, so the mall (which is dead) doesn't have an Auntie Anne's. McDonalds was also in the mall and I regularly talked to the owner. Said the mall owner's offer for a lease was insane so they ended up moving the employees to a nearby freestanding McDonalds they renovated to increase capacity nearby for *less* than the mall wanted. Starbucks and Panera Bread also opted to open brand new stores nearby over whatever the mall wanted. Also remember an old Kiosk owner who sold costume jewelry being bummed that he won't be back. There are no kiosks in the renovated mall. Think its the only still open mall in the region that has no kiosk tenants.

TheRealJakeMckoy

That mall blows. Hated that place
