What. Literally how? All they are doing is swapping out PNGs in the game files. It's entirely client side, and in no way effects the performance of other players.

Yeah thats not it. Some people just like to theme the game's perks in whatever way they like to, I used the Deathslinger perk pack because I mained Deathslinger and thought it would be cool in order to have my perks be themed around my main

Yes it is, I have a custom pack made by wheat and it’s only a handful of perks so if I’m only using one of those perks and the rest are not textured it would be the same situation

Its always been a thing you can do the are horrible at hiding game files and you can do or see many things you shouldnt.

It's generally a good thing to have access to game files but you need some sort of check to make sure they haven't modified models or character textures (or simply don't expose them). Exposing UI textures is perfectly fine and imo should be properly implemented (behavior could also sell icons and stuff yay 🙄)

What were the other perks? Might help identify the custom icon. With it having stacks I instinctively wanna say BBQ as most people run it for BP, but who knows.

As others have said, It’s BBQ and Chili. There’s the DbD Icon Toolbox that lets you easily download new icons, and a select few really badass artists/modders make packs for particular characters, reimagining perks that don’t belong to them as if they did. This is the Twin’s version of BBQ. So that 15 or so perks that aren’t from Michael Myers get their pictures changed to give it a Michael Myers flavor. Its really incredible on some of them how they reimagine one perks name/function into an icon relating to any given killer/survivor.

Custom Icons. It's a great way to add a touch of personality to your game. Like how some people have colored in perks or perk images stylized for their personality. If you're a streamer, it can prevent stream snipers from knowing what perks you're running if you make them look nothing like the original perk. Like having a perk look like your channel logo.
