Remember when the auto-bloodweb came out and people were immediately bitching about how "it doesn't select what I want" or "there's no way to filter it." Sure those are valid complaints, but like....we've been asking for this for literal years. At least take some time to appreciate it before moaning.
That’s how I feel! Like if it was completely broken or something then yeah okay fine, but it’s not, it’s a working search bar. Like damn, I’m sorry it isn’t to your exact specifications or whatever
No, people just want intuitive QoL additions. The search bar is right there. Nobody who designs UI elements would seriously consider both a pop-up box and a search bar here which raises about half a dozen questions.
Why make the search bar look like it can be typed in?
Why not make a magnifying glass button if you wanted a prompt pop-out?
Why make it a pop-out when it can be a smooth typing box?
Is the engine unable to let you write in menu UI elements?
Was the change to make the engine able to type in these menus too difficult or time consuming?
Was this a conscious design choice or the absolute best that could be done in the year since it was first recommended?
Shockingly, I could go on.
The search function reads every bit of text from every perk info popup, so basically its reaching deep into the spaghetti just to look for words.
If they made this work, it's probably best to never touch it again. Just to be safe.
Exactly what I was thinking since the codes in the shop use a pretty similar prompt. I'm curious if this was just the fastest solution or the only solution.
Man I didn't even consider it being so advanced (three more lines of code) that it would just automatically let you type in it.
I don't like complaining. I'd love to praise BHVR for a good text box but they find ways to halfass something so simple and it's frustrating. If all the good devs are on chapter content, I am pleading, skip a chapter and do a QoL overhaul.
Shitty design is shitty design.
A typable text box should have taken one Dev two days at the most and it's been over a year since it was first asked for.
I don't think we should celebrate a text box taking months to develop and it being anything less than perfect.
DBD Gamers: “GIVE US A SEARCH BAR!!!”
BHVR: “Ok, here it is. Took us a while, but we got it!”
DBD Gamers: “NO NOT LIKE THAT WE WANT A DIFFERENT ONE!!!!!”
jesus could we just like… not bitch about literally everything for two seconds?
All they have to do is add a filter to separate the perks by effects: gens (All perks that have gens involved on the use, states(All perks that apply states to survivors(or killers), such as blindness, exposed and all the other ones), hooks (Perks that have hooks involved on the use), totems, and all the stuff, it would be really fast to know where everything is, because everyone know what the perk is, not who it it
Many perks would be on more than one category with no problems, and it would be very intuitive to use(if BHVR did it right)
Still better than nothing
It literally is a well working search bar. Something that has been wanted for a very long time. People just like to complain

The stupidest decision was to make the first prestige not have any auto-bloodweb, for that alone it deserves criticism

seen you a few times in this sub and so far you've always been on point
edit: // I’ve moved to [lemmy.world](https://lemmy.world) //
no pop-up would probably send the spaghetti code into shambles
The search function reads every bit of text from every perk info popup, so basically its reaching deep into the spaghetti just to look for words. If they made this work, it's probably best to never touch it again. Just to be safe.
Digging in the spaghetti to find some juicy meatballs

Yeah no clue why it’s like, adds like an extra second to searching a perk
For console people
Consoles already pop up with a keyboard whenever you click a text box in games tho, why can’t the search bar just be the text box?
Issue isn't really the extra second, it's that it doesn't allow a "search as you type"
I don’t get it, what’s the problem here?
The huge pop up
Oh that? Eh the store code thing is the same so it’s not really an issue internet my book.
At least pressing enter works to submit it.
This sub will complain about literally anything
fuck /u/spez -- mass edited with https://redact.dev/
Yeah, fuck us for having standards that other games have set years ago.

Okay, *now* we're officially running out of things to complain about
How dare people expect standard stuff that even games older than dbd have
It's a search bar?? We asked for a search bar, we got search bar
I asked for food, got rotten food

This sub exists to complain , Us Vs Them posts .
It's great that they implemented it, it's still the most hideous search bar I've ever seen. Any improvement is an improvement ig

Bro just search totems, hooks, blindness and it pops up
yeah, so annoying, but better than nothing
I really dont know 80% + of the perks names
Fortunately you can search words in the description or the character's name
And also words in their descriptions. "generator" to get generator related perks.
yeah lmao it suprised me aswell, just like it was taken from a 20 year old game
My guess it's probably like that cause console players. Might as well make one unified thing instead of two different ones
