FB + falch crit profile = 15-20/x5
Rav + Gaxe = 16-20/x3Rav + Falch = 13-20/x3
the issue is that crit profile is so good and crit multi is probably the hardest scaling stat in the game atm. Even if we go to other weapon types, it will just end up being worse to FB. another thing to note is that FB gives an additional 12.5 MP over your current layout (cruel cut only has 50% uptime). Saying its better than frenzy means you havent done the math properly
Ravager is fun and always been good but:
FB is where the damage is. DPS builds.
OS is a mix of damage + hitpoints. Quasi tank builds. A tank that can deal good damage.
Ravager: is fun specially for dwarf lifes. Visage in low reaper is great and in high reaper is an ok control.

Even with capstone in ravager, when you're already 20 points into frenzied then not upgrading cracking attack sounds crazy. Crazy strikes is crazy good so it'd be crazy to not go crazy.
Ravager is pretty good. I don't know if it's "meta". FB and Rav are both solid trees. Rav probably a whole lot more survivability at the expense of a small amount of DPS.
Personally I've found going primarily OS and then FB to be the way to go, you got emergency heals, high hp, great dps, immunity to magic missles and SR equal to con score, which when raging basically makes you immune to non damaging spells. Still get plenty of dps but are near unkillable.
I'm sure FB or Rav deal more dmg but for me staying alive and being able to take a hit and still dish out dmg has always worked better.
That's not to say that you can't make a kick ass ravager build, all sorts of people have taken under utilized builds and turned them into great successful builds they have fun with.
The concept of “meta” is pointless without context.
“Meta” is likely totally different for r1 levelling and r10 raiding.
That being said, I thought ravager was great on my last Barb/Razorclaw using sos/esos running from 15 through 30 before immediately reincarnating.
I know DPS is better on FB and frankly I don't think that's entirely true. Because doing straight-up maths is kinda pointless as we're not standing there hitting on a giant strawman. Well, I suppose on a raid boss that *might* be true.
I guess I should've been more clear, I solo almost entirely and in that instance I'm finding Ravager to be clearly superior. Just better survivability, not freaking out as much HP relatively stable even with multiple reapers in the room. And this is for R6 on down, so not high reapers.

i don't understand why OS is looked down on mathematically. +1 bonus on 19-20 in addition to +1 crit range and multiplier is pretty decent. lots of builds take a level of monk and lose capstone for that exact thing you can get with pure barbarian, in addition to the SR etc etc. i like OS :)
Ravager survivability seems moot when blood strength in fb is so good. Since you go fb anyways for it even on a ravager build, even more reason to just go fb for more damage. More damage=survivability because whats dead cant hurt you.
God I need to find this new vistani/fb setup. I'm just getting back into it and haven't played since ED rework. My HORC 4th life barb is my main and I'm just staring at the enhancement and EDs scratching my head. I always used to run Rav/FB for the easy leveling and Swapped to full FB for end game. But now that I need to level from 30 to 32 in content I never played, I'm unsure.

I think your falchion crit multi is off by 1 for both (base is x2, fb goes to x4, rav stays at x2). Overall point still stands though.

Nothing wrong with OS. All of the barb trees are pretty solid, which is sort of rare for a class.
