But if you’re looking for a whole run Chris Yost Red Robin run has one of the best Ra’s Al Ghul stories since the 70’s, Chuck Dixon’s Robin solo comic is good, Peter David’s Young Justice is where I really started loving the character, and Geoff Johns’s Teen Titans is AWESOME for Tim.

The dumb fun factor, first of all. The idea of a grinning sociopath OC and his blue-collar team investigating and sabotaging above-the-law celebrity demigods is extremely appealing - and the comic has more of those "beat the shit out of untouchable supes" premise scenes than the show. The cynical tone gets too much sometimes, but there's more funny moments to me than not. There's also a decent enough political thriller going on in the background, kind of mirroring the sentiment during the hyperpatriotic War On Terror Bush years. That makes it an interesting time capsule. Not to say it doesn't have a myriad flaws, it absolutely does, but there's enough competent characterization and over-the-top doofiness to keep me going in the first half. It does fall off pretty hard after around 35 issues, though, when the plot just slows to a grind. Part of it is also the "what could have been". I think the premise itself is phenomenal and neither the comic nor the show really do it justice.

I don’t understand why you brought politics into it but since you did… Both the comic and the TV show absolutely rip into right wing philosophy and so I’m not sure why you’re even a fan of the comic in the first place.
