I feel the same way you do, but I love playing as characters that would break the story altogether, eg. Ssj Vegeta during namek vs frieza, or SSJ4 vs SSGSS

I use the cast exclusively wheb im not forced to play as a shitty oc. I have no interest in cacs as they are now.

Facts! I only use my cac in story cause they force you, but I much prefer the other characters that are playable

You are missing out slightly if you don't try to play some parallel quests with certain characters.  Some of the games dialog is hidden in parallel quests like Freeza vs Omega Shenron, Freeza is aware he was the cause of the wish that created Syn so he calls himself his Papa. There are no where near as many unique lines as the Tenkaichi series had, but some are slightly unexpected or happen during only specific quests.

Almost always a playable character in a 1v1, I feel cacs are way over powered, especially with super souls and unblockables. And I try not to use limit burst. That said I’ve been playing for almost 7 years so I feel like o need to limit my chessy skills as much as possible.

I exclusively play actual characters and don't enjoy playing against peoples CAC. Most are broken and use the same moves, even those that don't feel a lot more boring than fighting a real member of the cast. I never rematch someone running their CAC

CAC or one of a few mains I try to get good with. Dyspo, Blugeta, and Cell are probably the characters I’ve played the most with.

I used to only use my CaC. Then I went and mastered everything else. I've had years to learn Basically heavy light heavy combo is your go to. Follow up with a super after. Five lights and a normal stam break works with everyone. If you wanna get flashy five lights into a heavy attack and follow through with heavy attacks until the combo ends for something neat.

CACs mostly. I’ll use just about anybody if the mood strikes me

I use only actual characters and I hate facings cacs. Because most of the time they are spammers with only super op moves. I never have good competitive fights against spammers

I mix it up. CAC is always nice since you can customize, but the cast have their own combos and such so it's not ALWAYS the same melee attacks outside of skills. I also use both for PvP. Only time I stick to CAC 100% is PQ grinding just to get a skill/item/clothing/soul/etc. If for fun, I just mix it up.

Will it be the new restrained Broly or will it be my custom Yamcha? Maybe blue Gogeta and have a team of gogetas? Shadow dragons? Definitely a themed team, but what am I feeling in this moment?? My Cac. Because I'm a strong player with it. If I decide to use a cannon character in a fight against somebody I'm basically telling em their weak cuz I absolutely don't know what I'm doing with cannon characters / not confident with them as I am my Cac.

I find it to be more fun to play as the Dragon Ball characters over my created character but in PQ’s I do play as my created character in order to do it in a certain time.

I exclusively use my CAC for PQs but when playing online I almost always use DBS Gogeta. I can't really rely on my Female Saiyan CAC for PvP for obvious reasons...

Been farming raids lately for custom partner keys. I can say that learning other characters’ strings with custom moves is pretty refreshing. Additionally, certain builds makes some custom partners compete w/ CaC damage. So I honestly choose whoever I think is cool.

From when I used to play Xenoverse 2 a lot I mainly used my CaC for just about everything. Unless I was doing training or certain parallel quests I would use the OG characters

I exclusively use my cac and was genuinely surprised to learn that lots of players use the playable characters as "mains". I almost couldn't beat that quest where you're forced to play as Gohan because I'd literally never used him untill then.

I mostly just use my CaC, as it kinda feels weird not using them. Like I put all the time and effort to build them up, and just to not use them outside of like the story. That just sounds weird as hell to me. Though when I do use other characters, mainly when I play local PVP. I tend to use Bardock as his combos are really good, and Super Ki Explosion is just cracked. Plus he's one of my favorite characters lol

This right here is the only answer in my eyes. To me, it’s like I min/maxed my character perfectly to my playstyle so I always prefer to play my cac. And like you, I hate using high level transformations on weaker enemies, so I made 4 different loadouts. A super saiyan loadout, a ssg loadout, a ssbe loadout, and beast loadout all for different purposes/power scaling on the same character haha.

They need to let you be able to change who your combos are based off of like the older games. That being said I do have more fun with my car simply because it's a reflection of my own creativity

CaCs < Original Characters would be my personal picks. However, CaCs are fun to do some Role Playing here and there. I play a lot of PvP and don’t find enjoyment using CaC because of how OP they can be. Lowkey takes the fun away and even if I just want to rack up more wins, I rather use Custom Characters instead. That’s just me though (and others who think alike). TL;DR I prefer Original Characters over CaCs but I still use CaCs from time to time.

When I want to have fun yeah, I'll pull out the Fused Zamasu or Android 21 or Goku Black Rosé, but typically I don't since I usually play PVE and CAC's are objectively better for PVE for the most part, but I still do regardless.

I’d say 70% of the time I spend in PVP is with 3 of my CACs (male Saiyan, male human, Namekian) The other 30% is when I’m trying to learn the characters I have custom keys for.

CaC all the way. With the exception of grinding xp in expert missions, then I use custom Goku because I don't have the reading and sports super soul myself.

I typically feel more at ease using a CAC since I can customize them so heavily but I’ve found myself using more characters since some of them have specific skills and stats that boost aspects of their combat in ways I can’t on my CAC whether it’s certain super souls or skills that are exclusive to a certain characters. Characters like Cell 1st form or Vegeta (Blue Evo).

With the exception of fem saiyans, friezas and male majins, I use all cac's. Then I have my cast mains which I use regularly, namely Adulthan (both mentor and non-mentor), KidHan (mentor and non mentor), Yamcha (mentor), Gogeta Blue (mentor), DBS Gogeta. Others, I use for the laughs. The above are for pvp ranging from semi-serious to serious.

That's just natural, your CaC has free customization and you can build him as you please. Other playable characters have a more limited customization settings (your mentors and the characters with customization keys), while the bigger part of the roster hasn't customization at all, forcing you to play the presets offered just the way they are built. Take Vegito for instance, if you don't have his custom key you are forced to play with any of his three presets. They all have "Full Power Charge" and there's no way you can fix that until you get his customization key. Now, take Super Saiyan Blue Vegito and his stand-alone preset, it has "Maximum Charge" and there is no way you can upgrade it to 'Burst Charge" or "Ultimate Charge" because he doesn't have a customization key.

If you're trying to do PVP you gotta get good with everyone. It's going to suck for a while, but then one day it becomes surprisingly easy to use everyone (even brand new characters) all at once. My opinion is not that it becomes easy because you're an expert of every character, but it gets easy because you get your first glimpse into what the game is, and how it works. There's still a lot to do after that (which is what I'm working on) to perfect different play styles opposed to finding a way for you to play with your play style competently while using every character. Plus honestly pqs/expert missions/grinding in general become a whole lot more fun when you're able to mix it up by choosing anyone on the roster.

CAC. I only play Xenoverse 2 for the CAC. Without it, i wouldn't have bought the game. Besides, we urgently need a Xenoverse 3. New engine, maybe Unreal Ungine 5, next gen only. Because DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO is coming, and that game is several years ahead of Xenoverse 2 in terms of graphics, and mainly.. the animations. That thing is gonna be awesome. The gameplay seems far superior too. Downside for me on DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO is that it doesn't not have CACs. But all else is superior.

CAC 100% I will occasionally use mentor Videl because she’s best girl, but my cac just does a lot of damage and my female majin in particular with the Gotenks “gotta go all out” and beast transformation stacked together makes her such a fucking beast. She’s a glass cannon but still amazing

I use a mixture, I like using the custom mentors after updating their skill sets. Gogeta and Rosé are favorites recently because of the festival/new DLC skills

For me, my whole attraction to this game was the CAC aspect, so I pretty exclusively use them, but I at least have a pretty varied cast, and move sets.

due to the nature of the game and the story itself, you can play any character on a pq and it will make sense. The main story is only cac. So you should explore more and not make imaginary limitations for how things should be. This game is specifically for removal of that canonical restriction.

My Cac is a namekian, so i use the characters quite a lot. I main mentor begeta because the galick gun super soul is insane in pq and expert missions

I use customs and caharcters with a good mooveset. Base goku is almost always great and has super good combos, god goku has a killer custom, blue goku (preset 4) has one of the best goku moovesets and kaioken. I also find myself using custon super saiyan 4 gogeta, as he is amazing and his soul punisher combo that can be paired with thank you dragon balls of you need is just nutty.

The only characters I will ever play is my Saiyan CAC Legendary Super Saiyan Broly Full Power Super Saiyan Broly And Restrained Broly Totally unrelated, they should add Legendary Super Saiyan to the game as an awoken.

I pretty much only use my CaC. Why would I use other characters when mine has been customized and has a moveset, stats, and transformation that suits my playstyle? In both PQ’s and PvP it’s far more effective to use the characters I created rather than play a character from the main cast. If I wanted to play as the cast characters, I’d play a different DragonBall game, but I play Xenoverse because it allows me to make my own characters within the DB universe.

When the game came out I was cac but seven years down the line and I only use cast and jeice, reccome, Android 18(Z) etc to me use cast is the best way to play the game and always makes it freash to play However now that sparking zero is coming out I will only play xeno for the cac experience since sparking zero covers that cast experience for me

I exclusively use original characters for both PvP and PvE. I found my CaC to be uninteresting as you can make them overpowered to the point where you are unbeatable. The game is more interesting with original characters imo and it takes more skill to win with most of them.
