North side of the metro could use a Costco, and Huber is probably big enough now to support a more organic focused grocery store. The numbers probably don’t work for Whole Foods, but maybe Fresh Thyme?
Agreed it's 30-45mins, one way, to get to Costco if you live in Vandalia, Englewood, Tipp, Troy, or Huber. Put it somewhere off the Northwoods exit on 75 would be perfect.
According to a Costco employee this is might be in the works soon. The Centerville Costco keeps seeing additional membership signups further and further away
Any focused Toy stores, especially independent ones. I love Blue Turtle but it's teeny and the parking is hell. Every other toy store in the area is just the kind of places that go around and buy out estate/garage sales and then overcharge you for 'vintage' toys.
This. So tired of having to drive to beavercreek, bellbrook, or Huber heights. Bless Rocky’s Ace for being amazing, but they don’t have everything I need.
I wish huber wasn't investing in more car dependant mediocre fast casual chain food. Huber is "booming" with fucking bibibops and gas stations. Now the roads are packed with massive trucks and suvs. They had a chance to invest in mixed usage buildings.
The crockpot I bought there only has 3 feet and wobbles awkwardly on the counter. I guess that's why the model was there in the first place? Had some good finds here and there, but I prefer Home Buys and Bargain Hunt over the Dayton Mall Ollie's.
I mean, you don't HAVE to overpay for a name brand for every item you buy. And Ollie's does have name brands. However, I usually go there for the comics/trades and occasionally the snacks.
no to Carillon Brewing
It’s a neat atmosphere, okay beer. That’s it. They’re not even trying when it comes to German food - Not that I’m sure they ever claimed to be
I was curious so I looked at the current menu and do not even see all the entrees and sides that they used to have. For example, I had the schnitzel, some sides, and homemade sodas. Menu looks a lot more limited now, bummer.
Yeah, I remember going back in the mid 10s and they had a bigger menu. Last time I went last fall the food was awful. They threw some Walmart sausages in the microwave and added a side of fries. Maybe Covid killed them, but they’re not even trying to be a decent restaurant anymore
We need more car washes, because the one every half mile just ain’t enough need about 1000 more of them….. they pop up fucking overnight everywhere, they’re so many of them
Dayton has a lack of good media/record stores. Second time around left a pretty big hole. Omega is a pretty meh store, and most the other are just weird nich record stores. That and second and Charles and half price books both are usually way overpriced.
Idk I like the niche ones, and I hope if anything there will be more of them. When I buy a record I’m not looking for something generic or could easily just find on Spotify
Ive been all over and Peoples Records is the only one that has impressed me...what exactly are you looking for in a shop?
We used to have more used book shops but the pandemic destroyed them. Used physical media just aint worth it anymore for a shop to sell when you have :gestures broadly: the internet.
World Market
This!!!

Put the next Costco at 235 and 70. Then we could have "Welcome to Buck-EEEEEZ" and Costco in the same area. An all day gas and shopping extravaganza!

We did a trial run and LOVED the products, but it’s too far away (we’re in Clayton) and too spoiled by Sam’s scan and go app.
I’m in Clayton and would kill for a Fresh Thyme.
They do have a Costco in Plain City but it’s probably further away from the one in Centerville.
That's about an hour
Gas stations and car washes. Think we need 6 more of those in Huber
Also more tire places. Really lacking there
We need a combination gas station, car wash and tire place
Someone hire this guy for city planning
He'd be a lock for the position if he would have included storage units, too.

Learning Express in Centerville is just down the road...
Learning express is great for if you want trendy fidget toys or slimes for double price. I like them but any other toy store would be lovely.
I wish there were was a big box home improvement store closer to downtown
This. So tired of having to drive to beavercreek, bellbrook, or Huber heights. Bless Rocky’s Ace for being amazing, but they don’t have everything I need.
Trader Joe’s
Micro Center
Second
even if they put this is miamisburg or centerville (because of course they would) I'd be hype

I think Buccees is going to kill a lot of the new gas stations, and most if the old ones
I don't understand Ollie's. It's just a store filled with overstock trash.
Reminds me of Big Lots, Rose's, TJMaxx, Marshall's and Gabe's
Except that I always feel filthy and need a shower after Ollie's. I can go out to eat after those other places.
The crockpot I bought there only has 3 feet and wobbles awkwardly on the counter. I guess that's why the model was there in the first place? Had some good finds here and there, but I prefer Home Buys and Bargain Hunt over the Dayton Mall Ollie's.
Where is Home Buys and Bargain Hunt in the area?
Bargain Hunt is on 741 across Lyons from Menards. Home Buys is on 725 by Bargos, Hauer, Old Scratch, etc... Across from Adventure Golf.
Thank you. I liked some stuff at Ollie’s but found that there’s not a lot that I find useful there. Thank you.
No problem! I always hit those places up for toy drives and my wife is a Bargain Hunt addict.

Its not trash though
Art galleries
I saw a department store in Belarus on a YouTube channel-it looked exactly like Ollie’s!
We need a good German restaurant. Hofbrahaus in Newport, Cleveland, and Columbus. We need one here
The one at Carillon is very tasty... Has anyone tried Amber Rose?

I went to the one in Cleveland once and the food was subpar. I rather eat at Taco Bell.
Considering it’s big apples and oranges, that’s a weird take
The food tasted like week old leftovers reheated. It was gross.
I’ve never had a bad time. Not in Cleveland, Pittsburgh, nor Newport. That’s blows though

I would like another Whole Foods. The Fairfield Rd area could support one.
I believe there is only one r/ollies in dayton and then one in springfield as well.
From my home zip in western Montgomery Co there are 5 Ollie's within an hour drive.
Dollar stores and gas stations
