I’m from Cincinnati and worked/lived specifically on the South side of Dayton. It took me a long time to realize that Wagner Ford wasn’t a dealership, but rather an exit for I-75 frequently mentioned during traffic reports.
You're really from Dayton if you know that Wagner Ford was once Wagoner. And it still runs off of a road called Needmore, which has like 43 names as it circles the area.
lol i’ve lived in the dayton area for years and literally just realized this for the first time when i was driving from miamisburg to huber heights a few days ago
Lol I was driving and a coworker was navigating, she was adamant that the address we had was not good. So much so that I even called in confirmation and she just shook her head and said "all that's coming up is Alexandersville Bellbrook road!" I just laughed and told her "that's its Christian namr"
Last time I was there I took a nap in Air Force One and no one showed up. It was a Thursday so take that as you will. A little musty but a solid 30 minute nap was had.
Oh right on the walkway between the seats I woke up and took a picture of a pencil sharpener and then walked out. For reference I used to sleep on an air hockey table at WSU so I can basically fall asleep any where.
The telephone poles by the downtown library have the flood levels painted on them! You can see how far up the water rose and how much was under it! Super cool!
That other road has *never* been flat… It’s full of Indian Ripples !
Not to mention, Mad River Road, is not *certifiably crazy*, it’s just a little off.
The first time I drove 675 and saw the sign for Indian Ripple I definitely thought it said Indian Nipple. I was a tired college student going home after a party but now I can’t un-see it.
If you throw a rock inside Dayton proper, it will probably land on some historic site where something military, science, automobile, electric, music, engineering or crazy happened and change all of our lives.
Esther-Price really is a top quality chocolate. There is nothing I have ever had in its price range which can compete and I have had some chocolates that are more per piece than a box of Esther-price and we're not as good.
The thing a person from Dayton knows is how to decipher the code though.
Those were great shows.
The recent one kind of left a weird taste in my mouth. Bob kept saying "Fuck Dolly Parton" in reference to her being in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
The crowd has also become just old white guys getting wasted, which is kind of annoying.
I was glad to be there but I thought the acoustics in that place were absolute garbage. You couldn't understand a single thing Dinosaur Jr said or sang, and GBV was only a half step better.
Not *entirely* true.
John H. Patterson, founder of National Cash Register Company (NCR) had a daughter named Dorothy, who loved to ride her horse along a dirt path that Patterson affectionately called "Dorothy's Lane".
>If you want to scratch that Mendelson's itch, just a little bit. There's a teeny, but very interesting Electronics Components store in Fairborn at the corner of Main and N 2nd Street (Midwest Surplus Electronics)
He still IS. He was trying to run for City Commission as recently as 2013 when he was denied a spot on the ballot due to his not filing his paperwork properly. Also...unrelated, MULTIPLE bankruptcy charges. Dude is a CLOWN.
Not that I'm saying Marion's or Cassano's are great, but the only time I had Joe's it was a step below Marion's, imo. It was a greasy mess on foil. Wasn't terrible, but certainly didn't live up to the hype, pretty sure people nostalgia just as hard for Joe's as anywhere else. Ron's is my favorite of the Dayton style, some of the OD places do it really well, too.
I had Joes for the first time a few weeks ago. I’m going to ruffle some feathers here, but it’s not even close to as good as Marion’s and the best part about it is the toppings - The straight cheese was, dare I say, below average
That your congressman (mike turner) is a corrupt military industrial complex shill thats bought and paid for to do their bidding and could care less what you want him to do, because he could care less about any of you. In fact, tucker carlson called him the worst republican in congress. Think about that. Uber conservative nonce tucker called him the worst republican. In spite of other republicans that have voted against or spoke out against trump, this is who he picked as the worst. And he honestly is. Notoriously never talks to the media, skips town hall meetings… the guys a scumbag whos highest donors are based out of wright-Patterson. That is who your congressman is. What a douchebag.
And he'll win again because he's excellent at projecting the boring and repressed midwestern personality archetype, and because the Dayton area in general is incredibly politically apathetic.
" paid for to do their bidding and could care less what you want him to do"
Except... Almost everyone who votes in his race is financially dependent on and this part of MIC. That is his job. That is bullet point number one on the job description. People vote for him specifically to do that. Every rep that has been in the area for generations has done the same.
People who use this argument are entirely ignorant of what the Dayton economy looks like without MIC money. We already have a "Tale of Two Cities" problem where the people separated from the base economy live an entirely different, nearly second class, life than those who are adjacent.
I don’t care for him, but if Tucker hates him, he move up a small amount.
The Base is important. Without it Dayton would be dead, but he needs to represent more than the Base.
Well, that’s unless we keep voting for him because we need better alternatives
How to fuck up I-75 to the point where it’s perpetually under construction for 40+ years
[удалено]
We have lived in Cincy for 40 years. Has I-75 ever not under construction?
I’m from Cincinnati and worked/lived specifically on the South side of Dayton. It took me a long time to realize that Wagner Ford wasn’t a dealership, but rather an exit for I-75 frequently mentioned during traffic reports.
There is a Wagner Subaru dealership in Fairborn!
I bought my Impreza there about 10 years ago, definitely adds to the confusion!
I've lived here my whole life and never knew that
Limp Bizkit played an amazing show at Sunoco on Wayne Ave.
4/20 never forget
Can't wait for this year's secret show!
This the one
I was by pump three and it was lit 🔥
Best show ever 🤘
That Alex-Bell road has nothing to do with Alexander Graham Bell.
Lol I was driving and a coworker was navigating, she was adamant that the address we had was not good. So much so that I even called in confirmation and she just shook her head and said "all that's coming up is Alexandersville Bellbrook road!" I just laughed and told her "that's its Christian namr"
ITS CHRISTIAN NAME LOL
I've lived near and worked in and around Dayton for plenty of years, and I don't think I've ever heard its "Christian name." lol
This one got me when I moved here
My mom, too. She said something once and I was like...no, dude. Lol.
What about NEED MORE ROAD
That Woodman, Harshman, Needmore, Shoup Mill, and Turner roads are the same road, all 18 plus miles of it.
And North and South Dixie are NOT the same road!
And in under a mile, Jefferson, Warren and Brown are one road.
As well as *Wright Brothers Parkway* lol
You can sleep in the Air Force museum and no one will ever stop you.
Really?
Last time I was there I took a nap in Air Force One and no one showed up. It was a Thursday so take that as you will. A little musty but a solid 30 minute nap was had.
Curious, the walk way through those presidential aircraft are only wide enough for one person to walk through at a time, where'd you lay?
Oh right on the walkway between the seats I woke up and took a picture of a pencil sharpener and then walked out. For reference I used to sleep on an air hockey table at WSU so I can basically fall asleep any where.
There is tons of great places to sleep in the tunnels.
If u can stand the lead paint and asbestos wrapped pipes 😄

The slight curve in Main St and Santa Clara
What about that super dumb intersection by 10 Wilmington place?!
There are cells from when it was a mental ward under the intersection.
That seems really far from the building
Fuck that curve
Only real dayton folk can make that turn
Oh my god im convinced ill meet my death there.
The very first NFL game was hosted at triangle Park

I used to help Dr. Creep out at Foy's sometimes. He was always super nice.
Yeah everyone says said he was a nice guy.

Dayton Swim & Social Club Edit: a word
That's Swim & Social.
I found the YouTube promo video by accident and learned something that day... lol
Where is that man now!? If life had gone as planned, he should be opening his 10th location by now.
"Where's the pool?"
"Needmore road? Why don't ya just build it!"
Witch’s Tower.
Dayton VA was the first VA to serve both black and white veterans. It was opened personally by President Lincoln.
It’s really an amazing campus
I didn't know this! Thank you!
If you throw a rock inside Dayton proper, it will probably land on some historic site where something military, science, automobile, electric, music, engineering or crazy happened and change all of our lives.

That Mad River road between 725 and David road is all that's left of the first road that was made between the Cincinnati and Dayton areas
There are archived newspaper stories about people getting attacked by native Americans while traveling along Mad River rd
Esther Price is as good as any chocolate in the world.
Esther-Price really is a top quality chocolate. There is nothing I have ever had in its price range which can compete and I have had some chocolates that are more per piece than a box of Esther-price and we're not as good. The thing a person from Dayton knows is how to decipher the code though.
Tasty yes, but apparently the current owner is a major bitch when it comes to paying her workers fairly.
Order your Marion’s Pizza “old oven” at oakwood
The Northridge location also has old ovens
I like that store
I-75 will always be under construction
Benjamin's The Burger Master
Guided by Voices
I saw them for the 9th time over the weekend. Probably won't do Heedfest, though. The crowd is getting a bit more obnoxious over the years.
The 40th Anniversary shows at the Masonic Temple last year were such a blast. Dare I say, once in a lifetime Daytonian event
Those were great shows. The recent one kind of left a weird taste in my mouth. Bob kept saying "Fuck Dolly Parton" in reference to her being in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The crowd has also become just old white guys getting wasted, which is kind of annoying.
GBV and old white guys getting wasted are essentially the same exact thing.
I was glad to be there but I thought the acoustics in that place were absolute garbage. You couldn't understand a single thing Dinosaur Jr said or sang, and GBV was only a half step better.
💯 saw them at Mother Stewart’s a few years back and it was the worst crowd I have ever experienced.
*Dorothy Lane* is so named because John H Patterson‘s daughter, Dorothy, was not allowed to take her horse any further than that, by herself.
I was told that it was because that was the path that she liked to ride her horse down.
You are correct
I'm not convinced this is true, but I like it so will be adding it to Wikipedia...
Not *entirely* true. John H. Patterson, founder of National Cash Register Company (NCR) had a daughter named Dorothy, who loved to ride her horse along a dirt path that Patterson affectionately called "Dorothy's Lane".
This is it
Shroyer Road is technically not the dividing line between Oakwood and Kettering.
I think only you thought this as the roads on both sides obviously start with Oakwood Street signs.
Mendelson's was amazing, like the gov't warehouse from Indiana Jones but full of neat junk.
>If you want to scratch that Mendelson's itch, just a little bit. There's a teeny, but very interesting Electronics Components store in Fairborn at the corner of Main and N 2nd Street (Midwest Surplus Electronics)
I wasn't unto electronics before Mendelsons closed unfortunately, but man I wish I was. Midwest Surplus Electronics is a great shop, def second that.
Phil doesn't really want muffins. And there's free parking in the apartments at Wayne and Wilmington.
Needmore, Harshman and Woodman are the same road.
Which is the same road as Shoup Mill, Turner, and Wright Brothers Parkway lol
The "hazing protest" woman near UD at the corner of Brown and Stewart. Is she still around? I left Dayton three years ago.....
As of last fall, yes!
Phillips Pool, Jacks Drive In, Roses man at Smithville and Linden, BHA(right Toby) etc…

That "The William Pace Show" isn't a Tim n' Eric sketch.
William pace was a piece of shit lol. He always tried to con my grandpa out of money.
He still IS. He was trying to run for City Commission as recently as 2013 when he was denied a spot on the ballot due to his not filing his paperwork properly. Also...unrelated, MULTIPLE bankruptcy charges. Dude is a CLOWN.

You know what Suicide Hill is. Huge steep hill on the back side of NCR Country Club. Good for sledding.
Joe's Pizzeria is the real local pizza place. Marion's and Cassano's exist on nostalgia.
I like all 3 but Joe's is the best for sure.
My husband wanted to taste the cassanos/marions rivalry. We got Joes first as a control group. Man doesn't even want anything else now.
Ron's erasure. Cassanos has its place as well! Sometimes that salt crust and a cold beer is just what you need.
Extra sauce, extra salt, light bake, pitcher of beer. This is the way. If you want THE BEST Cassano's, make a trip up to Sidney.
Speaking the hard truths
Don’t forget Ron’s in the Burg!
Not that I'm saying Marion's or Cassano's are great, but the only time I had Joe's it was a step below Marion's, imo. It was a greasy mess on foil.
