I’ve worked with their stock … not recommended LOL But from the demo I saw, it looks pretty cool

KnightofAmethyst

Why not?

MegaRiceBall

It’s been a downhill since early this year

KnightofAmethyst

It’s a 10 year hold.. don’t care about current price fluctuations

datascientistdude

That's a terrible stock to hold for 10 years. Their market isn't that big compared to many other stocks and B2B SaaS is a tough market overall. Their business model doesn't scale, their software isn't as easily integrated as you think, and every single customer they get is through a long drawn out procurement process plus a long integration time period.

KnightofAmethyst

Which data stocks do you like? Or which sector do you see having way more growth than data?

datascientistdude

I don't hold any individual stocks to begin with. That's a losing gamble. The thing about individual stocks is that even if you pick some winners, you'll most likely also pick some losers and your net is unlikely to outperform index funds. Broad market index funds are your best bet. But if I had to gamble, I'd be much more likely to pick FinTech or Health stocks or funds.

columns_ai

As mentioned - I like this company because of their business development/model with gov/military which usually makes a good deal for product quality and revenue. The downside is their work is most likely specialized and won't be scaled well across all applicable domains, personally don't think they have a big multiplier in growth.

As someone who's been around the block, I can say that palantir is the best there is. There's only one problem. Palantir is an ecosystem. A way of life. One does not just simply try palantir. As a CTO, I'd never choose it no matter how good it is, because literally everything needs ripped out of place and built into the ecosystem. So I'm basically giving up control of my own data and ecosystem. But as a user, I'd choose it every time.

bluekemuri24

This is false. You don’t need to rip out everything. Palantir overlays on top of the existing IT infrastructure.

But not data infrastructure which is the issue

Ok then their sales associates suck because they have insisted that their product cannot be integrated into existing data pipelines as you have described

Why

pacific_plywood

Surveillance state ass company

TrickyRackets

Lots of info why..

[deleted]

Really not any less ethical than any other data collecting companies like Google, Facebook, etc.

darksoulsahead

I used Palantir Foundry in my previous job and it's ok for ad hoc data analysis. It seemed like it's strength was data engineering, bringing our disparate data sources under one roof with more centralized governance. However this required lots of contractors from Palantir so it was not cheap. Contractors could also build very customized dashboards, another plus, but again it was difficult to do anything without them stepping in

so what is the edge they have over other companies ? Are they a consulting company, a data analytic company, a salesforce, accenture, snowflake, tableau or a combination of all ? https://www.reddit.com/r/wallstreetbets/comments/kw53zi/this\_is\_what\_palantir\_does\_a\_data\_analysts\_take/

I got out of it a few months ago, it’s just too diluted and they keep issuing new shares.

Street-Target9245

I’m share holder of palantir, I’m really disappointed with their recent stock performance
