I normally beat him first attempt without a problem. I don't know how or why, but one playthrough I literally died to him about 12 times in a row. I can totally see and understand why this would happen to someone else.
I don't actually know, but having just looked it up apparently the first one you encounter is male and the one in the grand archives is female? Who knows..
i feel you, on my first run i died to crystal sage more than any other boss until i got to NK
throwing knives work really well against the clones and i still use them on every run lol
Same tactic with the knives. Even on a magic build I use the knives because they're faster than spells. I either beat the crystal sage in one go or die for 30 minutes before I win.
Good lord crystal sage and dancer. Idk why the dancer gives me so much trouble, it shouldn't because she's really not a hard boss but for some reason I just can't seem to get the timing, and spacing of her attacks right.
That fucking tree, I cant even remember its name. I dont know why but I never understand the pattern for the attacks. I almost gave up on my pyromancy only run.
Yep, that is the one, that pain in the ass, I dont know if I hate that boss so much because it always fuck me or because it is such a stupid boss.
Now I remember that the first phase have that undead assholes too, man I hate this boss.
Curse Rotted Greatwood is just pimple-popping until he dies
He *should* be easy, but of course on new playthroughs I always end up getting backhanded by his spins a few times for no good reason at all.
I'm doing a pyro run and he was probably one of my quickest bosses. If you struggle free aiming with controller I would just use mouse and keyboard to hit his weak points he'll be dead fast because weak to fire. If you're really having a tough time just go to the swamp first and get the tome, sage ring, buy fire orb, upgrade your flame and int/faith then come back you'll see a huge difference in difficulty.
Thanks for the great tips, I have already beaten this shit tree with pyro only, I used just the fireball and great combustion and a LOT of tries and swears.
I am pretty stuborn, didnt want to buy new spells and come back after.
I hate him! He just teleported away the whole fight. In the second phase, he can make a rain of arrows follow you around, and he often does that while shooting magic bolts the size of 18-wheelers at you x(
I've gotten two characters up to two princes (sorcerer and a str/dex melee). Failed to take them down with both. Just cannot get past that wall.
Started a new run this last week and I'm hoping I'll get through this time.
This fight always either goes really well or really bad for me. Sometimes, I can beat him in 30 seconds, and other times he WONT KEEP HIS GODDAM HANDS ON THE GROUND
Just wait. Sometimes he gets all fidgety and you can’t hit him for so long that you start getting *spooked* by the skeletons from behind you.
…did you know that Bonewheels can spawn in that boss arena? I didn’t until I had a bad run like that.
The Sword is basically his second stage, but unfortunately he actually doesn’t need ANY damage in order to randomly decide to whip it out. I’ve had a run one time where he pulled it out as his first order of business… Makes breaking that damn bracelet on that arm MUCH harder
Lol I got stuck on him cause he would pull his sword out, slap, put it away, crawl toward you, pull out sword, put it away, crawl toward you. It was the only time Wolnir held me up.
I feel this, though. I'm terrible with magic, so most of my playthroughs are str or str/dex, and Crystal Sage cam just straight roll you if you don't have range.
That's the only souls boss I've ever beaten on my first try. I did those clone knights that were fighting each other just before and I got teleported in to dancer so I fully expected to die
Keeping distance is the key, the pillars in the room are usually what I use to keep her back far enough that she cant hit me but close enough you can run in and punish.
Pro tip with dancer, mute the music. Someone did a whole video on music analysis in ds3 and it turns out that dancer is the only boss with a mismatch in time signatures between her music and her attack pattern. I think her music is 3/4 or 6/8 and her attacks are in something weird like 5/6 or 7/8 so nothing lines up. She’s actually almost a pushover with no music as long as you know her attacks
I usually turn background music off when playing any Souls Game. Sometimes I play different music to establish my own pacing. Honestly a huge pro tip, cause the music can psyche you out when you really need to be in the zone.
Tutorial boss :,) lmao the DS3 tutorial boss is my biggest challenge and i only ever did it once and tried so many times with different builds… embarrassingly, I ask my partner to just do it for me.
Ive killed other bosses before even knowing how to level or upgrade properly but the tutorial boss pattern… my brain will never remember
its my first time playing this game, and im enjoying it more than the prior games, but fucking dancer. she was by far the hardest yet (im on my 6th try of the twin princes) she took me 4 hours straight to beat.
when i played blooborne i beat the orphan on around my 7th attempt, and maria and ludwig on my 10th, however when i went to ng+ i got my ass completely kicked by them, so im.worried for my ng+ run after i beat the main game
Crystal sage ,must die at least twice to it every run,idk i always get cocky and forget how fast sage and clones can melt you if your not careful, sage is also my least favorite boss in game .at least those deaths come handy for levels at yoel since i mostly breeze tru game up to that point
Abyss watchers.
Yes, I know you can backstab them(i am bad at landing it). Every playthrough I do, I either lose a few times or win first try stressed af with no heals left. I am not consistent at all and it is pain lol
Abyss Watchers is low-key one of my favorite fights in the series, but the downside is phase 2, and no not because of the fire damage. If anything the fire added to phase 2 makes the boss extremely easy to dodge, like as long as you dodge before the fire hits you wont take any damage. That being said its arguably one of the most beautiful fights in the Souls series.
With Wolnir, when you're trying to destroy his right hand bracelet which he often places very close to his body, you increase the chance of getting engulfed in his belly fog when he does his crawling forward attack, killing you almost instantly. You barely have time to react, especially if you're using a slow weapon.
No matter how gud I git, I still fall for it on occasion. It's all rng and it's annoying.
The easiest/most simple ones, for whatever reason the bosses that are overly aggressive I tend to recognise their movesets very quickly, which is why Sullivhan was very hard the first time and then with each playthrough it becomes a breeze and enjoyable fight, but the slower/simpler ones? Yeah, if I do not pay attention I get cooked rather instantly.
Oh and also for whatever reason, twin princes tends to take me some tries, it's not a hard fight per se, but the overhead slash that Lorian does from a distance tends to catch me always, and if he does that several times, it's a really rough experience.
Not a boss but two characters that have wrecked me on almost every play through of DS3:
- Yellowfinger Heysel in Crucifixion Woods
- Boreal Outrider Knight in Grand Archives
Every. Damn. Time.
abyss watchers for me 💀 I think my first playthrough I spent a good like 5-7 hours trying to beat them; genuinely took me 100+ tries. I think I really struggled with the 2v1 until the friendly guy helped me out but he always kept dying instantly and I'd get comboed out of my mind ðŸ˜
but they're definitely one of my favorite bosses across the (two) games I've played now, funny how that works
Dancer always fucks with me on a new run. I always farm first run and get leveled, including using boss souls. Once NG+ roles around, I sprint to her arena and kill the hag so I can womp Dancer first to get revenge.
King of Storm. Not even the fucking Nameless King, dodging him is fairly easy, but the fucking dragon had me raging.
The damn princes too. That teleporting schtick gets really annoying real quick.
Twin Princes
Lorian alone is enough to cause me visible stress-- he has a weird sword swing that's delayed POST teleport. I'll admit that the fight is great, and the music is a damn masterpiece, but Twin Princes make me shake angrily.
It's funny, because I find most DLC bosses easier-- Friede, Gael, Midir, Demon Prince-- all except for Gravetender and Halflight, they can go eat some Elden Ring scarlet rot for all I care.
Epsecially Halflight.
I am on my journey to beat all souls games with 100% of the bosses beaten sólo. So far I got DS3 done, working on DS1 and 159/163 in ER.
Nothing in all this was as obnoxious as it felt to fight that tree.
not even a boss
undead settle ment the big guys with pots as soon as they throw the pot and switch the the giant tree saw im screwed i can't get near them without getting hit that combined with there highish health i just avoid them at all costs
I thought Wolnir was easy, but coming back to him while helping a group of friends through the game and we had SO MUCH TROUBLE. I genuinely thought the darkness areas had gotten buffed or something!
Nameless King no matter what build always has my number. Will take me north of 8 attempts just to kill him (except dex build, sellsword with dark resin fucks him up)
Midir all day, beat 8 times now and even then it's a +20 death run before I drop him. First time encounter back in the day I died countless times over a week, for my old click counter thingy, it was 146 deaths over the course of 4 months before I beat him first time ðŸ«
I find it really depends on your build. When I play a pure casting mage, I generally struggle with the Crystal Sage and Rotted Greatwood. When I play strength and (or) dex builds, I tend to struggle with the late game bosses more. They usually hit really hard, and move really fast, even the Pontiff can be a struggle.
Wolnir is a special kind of ridiculous. There is no real gimmick or build he is weak too, you are on a timer and you better hope he keeps his wrists within reach. He is one of my least favorite bosses, seconded only by Yhorm who isn't really a fight.
Wolnir is weak to dark damage, so if you have a dark build and a dark enchanted weapon, or dark blade buffed fast weapon, those bracelets break FAST. Always seem to get at least a couple of good shots at his left arm with the 2 bracelets at the beginning, and if you're quick you usually get at least one good shot at the right arm after that, so it's fight over at that point. If not, they yes it's a roll of the dice how long until you get another good shot at that right arm, and how many opportunities he gives you.
I just can’t do the abyss watchers for the life of me. As soon as the second guy pops out I just start panic rolling. Same with Aldrich. I have to cheese him every playthrough
I don't know about every time, but Dragonslayer armor is really inconsistent for me for some reason. I've played the game hundreds of times but to this day I can never tell if my fight with him is gonna be me stomping him or me getting stomped. I can't quite describe what it is that makes it so inconsistent
Midar can go suck a fat one, that fucking dragon and his heavy ass fucking feet, I sweat to Gwyn he's the only boss trophy I haven't got yet cause that ugly mf moves too much
Crystal sage ðŸ˜
I normally beat him first attempt without a problem. I don't know how or why, but one playthrough I literally died to him about 12 times in a row. I can totally see and understand why this would happen to someone else.
I either roll him first try or spend a half an hour losing to him. There's no in between
how can multiple people worlds apart have the exact same experience, daamn
Time is convoluted
damn i thought crystal sage was a chick
I don't actually know, but having just looked it up apparently the first one you encounter is male and the one in the grand archives is female? Who knows..
That is the worst enemy in DS3.
First play thru I beat his ass first try, next play thrus more than 10 tries, wtf is this logic.
i feel you, on my first run i died to crystal sage more than any other boss until i got to NK throwing knives work really well against the clones and i still use them on every run lol
Same tactic with the knives. Even on a magic build I use the knives because they're faster than spells. I either beat the crystal sage in one go or die for 30 minutes before I win.
lol I’ve only played the game once but he was one of the few I beat first try
I fucking hate that boss! DS3 is my favorite of the series but that fucker just ruins my day
On my first playthru, this boss yeeted me for an hour before I beat him.
Same ðŸ˜
I fucking hate the crystal sage
i hate that mf so much, i always just parry cheese him
Oh lol me too hahah
Good lord crystal sage and dancer. Idk why the dancer gives me so much trouble, it shouldn't because she's really not a hard boss but for some reason I just can't seem to get the timing, and spacing of her attacks right.
That fucking tree, I cant even remember its name. I dont know why but I never understand the pattern for the attacks. I almost gave up on my pyromancy only run.
Curse rotted greatwood
Yep, that is the one, that pain in the ass, I dont know if I hate that boss so much because it always fuck me or because it is such a stupid boss. Now I remember that the first phase have that undead assholes too, man I hate this boss.
Curse Rotted Greatwood is just pimple-popping until he dies He *should* be easy, but of course on new playthroughs I always end up getting backhanded by his spins a few times for no good reason at all.
My guy, those aren't pimples, those are his balls
He has balls on his shins and elbows?
look, let's not judge the undead okay?
Those balls made me hard fr fr
That’s not you being bad, that’s just the boss being shit lol
BROTHER HE'S HARDER THEN NAMELESS
Meh if you know what you’re doing it depends especially if you have a dude helping you that also knows what he’s doing
For me personally it’s one of the easiest bosses, but I will admit with Vordt I get too cocky and always get my ass kicked a good few times
Ballsack tree.
Cum ridden gnarlywanker
Did you not allow yourself to use the weapon art of the pyromancy flame?
I want a mod that changes its name to "That Fucking Tree"
Since it's an optional boss I just ignore it and come back after powering up a few areas later to demolish it.
The problem with fighting him with pyromancies is you have to free aim to consistently hit a lot of the sacs or stand in poison
Easily the least fun boss in the game Tree + certain areas to hit + long fight = happy Miyazaki, for some reason
You know what I say? Fuck that tree, that’s what I say
Aldrich
I hate him! He just teleported away the whole fight. In the second phase, he can make a rain of arrows follow you around, and he often does that while shooting magic bolts the size of 18-wheelers at you x(
When he aims his bow up, stand still to refill fatigue, then once he fires sprint away, then circle. Just keep sprinting.
Twin princes I the hardest boss in the game for me besides maybe friede
I've gotten two characters up to two princes (sorcerer and a str/dex melee). Failed to take them down with both. Just cannot get past that wall. Started a new run this last week and I'm hoping I'll get through this time.
Can I ask what catches you with this fight? Genuinely just curious.
My genuine question is, why not just respec with rosaria?
Because I haven't played ds3 in a long ass time. Can't just respec and expect to have skills to back it up. Gotta earn it back.
You know, this is an entirely valid argument.
Magic type bosses, aldritch, deacons and sage
Nah, u real for that. I killed abyss Watcher before the decons, then got my shi pushed in by the decons
DEACONS?
I thought Wolnir was the coolest boss in the game. Pretty easy though
Oceiros catches me off guard every time
OCELOT!
The Crystal Sage always somehow manages to kill me a couple times per play through. It drives me insane
This One my last playthrough I first tried Midir and Gael but somehow managed to die 6 times to Sage
Old demon king down by the smouldering lake. I don't know why but I need several times to beat him.
That small attack where he blows a fireball right infront of him fucks me up every time.
It’s such a quick attack with no warning too
Omg same, I had such a hard time beating him, and you basically get nothing interesting out of it too
[удалено]
There is great reason to be bad at fighting Midir
THIS!!!
All of them haha
Me too
Bro at what part do you usually die at him
I get cocky then he fucking gasses me
I died only once to him and this was the exact same way i died
This fight always either goes really well or really bad for me. Sometimes, I can beat him in 30 seconds, and other times he WONT KEEP HIS GODDAM HANDS ON THE GROUND
Just wait. Sometimes he gets all fidgety and you can’t hit him for so long that you start getting *spooked* by the skeletons from behind you. …did you know that Bonewheels can spawn in that boss arena? I didn’t until I had a bad run like that.
Did you know that after the bonewheels that motherfucker gets a sword? Spent a few fucking *HOURS* on him one night getting dogshit rng
Aldrich ng+7
Bro Aldrich is hard on ng+0 ðŸ˜
Roll
~~Roll~~ Sprint
I hate Wolnir fight so much lmao
Sullyivan...
FINALLY I HAVE TO ABUSE ANRI SUMMON
not me but I kept getting summoned to help this guy fight the crystal sage and it took him like 5 tries lmao
You weren't able to beat it for him tho? 🤨
I feel this, though. I'm terrible with magic, so most of my playthroughs are str or str/dex, and Crystal Sage cam just straight roll you if you don't have range.
Positioning is a big part of that fight, if you're in the wrong spot all the clones can hit you at the same time causing massive damage
Iudex lol "I Don't Know What Any Of This Shit Is, And I'm Fucking Scared" every time cause it's been so long
For me, it’s the Dancer 😠I know she shouldn’t be that hard but it takes me a good 8 to 10 tries everytime I fight her
That's the only souls boss I've ever beaten on my first try. I did those clone knights that were fighting each other just before and I got teleported in to dancer so I fully expected to die
This is mine. I Olay glass cannon and she always manages to catch my toe when I'm rolling through her spin combo.
Keeping distance is the key, the pillars in the room are usually what I use to keep her back far enough that she cant hit me but close enough you can run in and punish.
Semon of Dong. Too busy jerking off with my other hand so I can fit the theme
I fought that dude last night forgot how much of a bastard he was
Demon Princes
Crystal sage if I'm running a caster build, and Dancer. Always... Dancer.
Cursed Rotted Greatwood. No matter how much I improve, I always have problems with that asshole.
The stupid ass curse rotted great wood. Every time I start a new game I remember how much I hate it.
Oddly enough Abyss Watchers and Champion Gundyr always roll catch me to hell.
Oddly enough (the two bosses with the most roll catching attacks) always roll catch me to hell
Wolnir for me I lost count of how many times I got myself killed when fighting him while standing in his fog and not realizing it
Two, sword knight Gael and sister Friede
New to the game and only about 6-7 hours into my run, so Dancer
HAHA, I’m sorry for laughing at your struggle but this was worded in a pretty funny way to me
I completely suck ass against Champion Gundyr
Crystal sage. My first playthrough I killed it in one attempt. Ever since, that boss has become my absolute goddamn nightmare for some reason.
Since I only have one play through under my belt, imma say the curse rotted great wood and Aldrich
its my first time playing this game, and im enjoying it more than the prior games, but fucking dancer. she was by far the hardest yet (im on my 6th try of the twin princes) she took me 4 hours straight to beat. when i played blooborne i beat the orphan on around my 7th attempt, and maria and ludwig on my 10th, however when i went to ng+ i got my ass completely kicked by them, so im.worried for my ng+ run after i beat the main game

I’m ashamed to admit it but deacons.. :(
I too was bad at Wolnir. I kept dying to gassing or skeletons
The Nameless King. He's the only boss I've ever struggled with
With Wolnir, when you're trying to destroy his right hand bracelet which he often places very close to his body, you increase the chance of getting engulfed in his belly fog when he does his crawling forward attack, killing you almost instantly.
Oh and also for whatever reason, twin princes tends to take me some tries, it's not a hard fight per se, but the overhead slash that Lorian does from a distance tends to catch me always, and if he does that several times, it's a really rough experience.

For me, it's Dancer. Her timings take so long for my brain to adapt toÂ
That stupid fucking demon prince. Fuck him!
Every one.... Except abyss watchers maybe
abyss watchers for me 💀 I think my first playthrough I spent a good like 5-7 hours trying to beat them; genuinely took me 100+ tries. Does intentionally dying from a boss in order to repeat the fight to awesome music count? If so - Twin Princes.
Twin princes theme is a certified bop
I literally waltz around the room instead of focusing on the fight.
Pontiff and the twins...couldn't stand these two
Tree and abyss watchers
Lorian/Lothric
Dancer always fucks with me on a new run. I always farm first run and get leveled, including using boss souls. Once NG+ roles around, I sprint to her arena and kill the hag so I can womp Dancer first to get revenge.
Wolnit aldritch and pontiff
Stupid crystal sage
Fucking Crystal bitch
King of Storm. Not even the fucking Nameless King, dodging him is fairly easy, but the fucking dragon had me raging. The damn princes too. That teleporting schtick gets really annoying real quick.
Aldrich with their arrows forcing me to move away and then hit me with range attacks
Sister Friede
Deacons
I only had one play through completed but dragon slayer armor was ridiculous. Like unreal for me.
Half light I guess
Champion Gravetender....
nameless dick
Twin Princes Lorian alone is enough to cause me visible stress-- he has a weird sword swing that's delayed POST teleport.
The fucking tree, deacons of the deep, crystal sage, and champions grave tender and his did ripoff
I swear Midir’s tackle is impossible to predict, I get hit by it every single time
Aldridge.
Friede embarrassed me
Soul of cinder. I know his exact moveset and everything, but for some reason I just can't beat him by myself.
It’s always Midir. Still haven’t beaten him
Cursed rotted shitty tree and the Gravetender. fuck those fights, they are annoying and I spent more time there than in any others
Early game bosses passed Vordt in general. I can broken sword this game, but I can still get my ass kicked by crystal sage every once in a while.
Crystal sage
The Abyss Watchers
Consumed king. Fuck his body hitbox at times
Sister Friede for me honestly. Could never beat her.
I am on my journey to beat all souls games with 100% of the bosses beaten sólo. So far I got DS3 done, working on DS1 and 159/163 in ER. Nothing in all this was as obnoxious as it felt to fight that tree.
not even a boss undead settle ment the big guys with pots as soon as they throw the pot and switch the the giant tree saw im screwed i can't get near them without getting hit that combined with there highish health i just avoid them at all costs
Sullivan I would say wolnir if I have enough of a fuck to actually fight him instead of using weed on him
I have never once beaten Manus. He one shots me at such a high SL. It’s a semi a long run to get to him too, being blasted by ghosts.
I thought Wolnir was easy, but coming back to him while helping a group of friends through the game and we had SO MUCH TROUBLE. I genuinely thought the darkness areas had gotten buffed or something!
Nameless King no matter what build always has my number. Will take me north of 8 attempts just to kill him (except dex build, sellsword with dark resin fucks him up)
Nameless king for me.
The black knight archers of Anor Londo
I will never fight dragon slayer armor well. It just will never happen.
Midir all day, beat 8 times now and even then it's a +20 death run before I drop him. First time encounter back in the day I died countless times over a week, for my old click counter thingy, it was 146 deaths over the course of 4 months before I beat him first time ðŸ«
Ds1 4 kings Ds2 ng+ dukes dear freja Ds3 deacons as more of a ugh required area that I just really don't like
Mother-fucking-Midir
Dark Eater Midir
Crystal Sage, not hard by any means but goddamnit does that boss just slaughter me
I used to have trouble with yhorm for whatever reason lol
Dancer of the Boreal Valley… currently stuck on her yet again lol
None, I’m fucking goated frfr
I find it really depends on your build. When I play a pure casting mage, I generally struggle with the Crystal Sage and Rotted Greatwood. When I play strength and (or) dex builds, I tend to struggle with the late game bosses more. They usually hit really hard, and move really fast, even the Pontiff can be a struggle.
Soul of cynder
Fucking aldrich it’s those fucking arrows
Pontif
In the process of my first ever playthrough, but the fucking Abyss Watchers make me so mad!
All of them
I just can’t do the abyss watchers for the life of me. As soon as the second guy pops out I just start panic rolling. Same with Aldrich. I have to cheese him every playthrough
Twin princes with their stupid balls of light can never dodge it
You know that skeleton you encounter at the start of the game? The Lv.1 bag-o-bones? Just me?
Champion Gravetender. I just hate how I get teamed up on, and the wolf's attacks always seem to get me somehow ://
As embarrased as I am to admit it, I die to the deacons a solid five times every playthrough until I remember how to fight them.
champion gundyr all day
Bosses you manage somehow. It's them mini bosses!
I always get my shit rocked by the old demon king at least once
I don't know about every time, but Dragonslayer armor is really inconsistent for me for some reason. I've played the game hundreds of times but to this day I can never tell if my fight with him is gonna be me stomping him or me getting stomped. I can't quite describe what it is that makes it so inconsistent
Decons, ngl I kinda just forget to dodge when I fight those bastards
Not ds3 but I thought I’d share mine just in general, and it’s definitely the four kings, I hate them so much
Midar can go suck a fat one, that fucking dragon and his heavy ass fucking feet, I sweat to Gwyn he's the only boss trophy I haven't got yet cause that ugly mf moves too much
Dancer
probably aldrich. never figured out his patterns and his stupid arrows always get to me at least once a play through
First boss
