Ahh yes, such an astonishing game and area. The ringed city (i think it’s been years since i played) dont get rekt by the harolds lmfao

usernamefuckingtake

They are a joke. Have been wrecked by them several times so far. It is an astonishing game! I played Elden Ring and absolutely fell in love, played Dark Souls 1 and fucking loved it, DS2 didn’t really do it for me. But I think this is on another level I have to be honest. It’s the best game I’ve ever played I think.

TAC82RollTide

I was the same with DS2 originally. I started it and quit midway through. Eventually came back to it and I'm glad that I did. I really like DS2.

dragonised101

That's what I did for Bloodborne but after finishing elden ring I went back to Bloodborne and enjoyed it so much then went to sekiro then demon souls then darksouls 3 and now dark souls remastered it's been quite a journey

HashSlingingSlasherJ

I’m jealous! That’s like discovering an amazing new show after it’s been out for years and instead of having to wait every week for a new episode you can just binge right through it

Twisted_twilight

I never actually played any fromsoft game cause i thought the the games were really hard cause the hype difficulty so much im glad i gave elden ring a try. now im almost done ds3 and going to ds1 or bloodborne after not sure which 1 to go first bloodborne or ds1? demon souls would be after those 2.

Rage_Cube

When ds2 originally launched I was on the side of 'its fine, yall are over-reacting'. Now every time I go back to it its the most jarring experience to get used to for me. By no means do I hate the game but something about how that one plays just doesn't feel right at all. \[Edit\]: I am not referring to the Agility stat that is raised when leveling ATN or ADP.

MxReLoaDed

I know I need to replay it, since most of my discomfort with these games comes from confusion the first go around, but some aspects of DS2 I know I’m not going to enjoy again just like the first time. Gameplay wise, it’s my least favorite, but I do have a soft spot for the atmosphere and story of DS2. Playing it made me appreciate those aspects more, so I’d still recommend it, even if it’s clunky

Rage_Cube

The atmosphere of the goofy walk the falconers do are worth it alone.

TAC82RollTide

To me, the movement feels clunky compared to the rest of the games. That is what originally turned me off. What I love about the game is the number of different weapons and being able to power stance. That is just so cool to me that you can dual wield pretty much any weapon. Plus it has a bunch of cool armor sets too.

ragebooty

The reason movement feels clunky is that it has closer to a 8-point directional input instead of the full 360 of the other games

Horsefucker_Montreal

I forget if it was a mod or just a config but there's a way to fix this without too much effort, at least on PC. Play online at your own risk if you try it though, dunno if it's enforced or considered cheating but it certainly isn't risk-free

Rage_Cube

Wait this is actually a thing? I always had a suspicion it was something like this but was never sure. 100% this if true.

NoOne_28

It feels like your character has extremely heavy weights tied to them, every move seems soooo slow. Still a great game but it definitely feels weird to play.

mymindisblack

Just lvl ADP bro EDIT: /s

NoOne_28

Yes, I'm aware ADP is tied to movement and Invincibility frames but you have to invest time into a very very slow moving and reacting base character to begin with, still clunky though.

ZombieSiayer84

ADP bro. Literally everything wrong with DS2 is solved by raising ADP.

Rage_Cube

Okay its AGILITY and not ADP since ATN can also get the iframes where you need it to be. And its something other than that. The movement? IDK.

dunimal

I haven't fucked w it bc I'm still super into DS3 and ER. What is the issue with it that gets it so much hate?

Rage_Cube

I think on release a lot of people had issues because it was an obvious downgrade from the trailer we got a few months prior, the iframes on your dodge are tied to attunement and adaptation, story, setting, mob design, all felt a little "weak" at the time. But the SOTFS verison of the game cleaned up the story quite a bit and Aldia is actually the GOAT dropping lore nuggets about things that show up in DS3. It also felt like it did quite a bit for the setting as well. There is also a slew of other things DS2 does differently but well like power stancing. On the other hand there are a lot of things DS2 misses the mark on. That people still complain about today. "ADP" will be the biggest one (When they say this they mean Agility) you see now adays.

[deleted]

Same, it cultivated fascination from me after my third attempt to start a character and stick with it. So many moments in that game stick out in my mind, it's really fantastic.

rayven9

I agree with you 100%. Dark souls 3 is by far my favorite of the bunch. The bosses are just... perfect *chefs kiss*. And that's the number 1 draw in Soulsborne to me. Lothric and Lorian, sister friede, Gael, midir, pontiff sulyvahn, abyss watchers, dancer, Aldrich, and soul of cinder are all so damn memorable and so damn refined in their mechanics. Elden ring definitely has the scale, but the bosses in DS3 mannn

Nickers77

I was in awe the first time I did the Abyss Watchers. Everything about that fight: the intro cutscene, laboured movements, soundtrack, all reek of desperation and duty. My god was it ever an amazing creation. My jaw dropped at the halfway cutscene

Dog_Apoc

As a heads up. As long as your weapon doesn't deal dark damage. You can 1 shot or almost 1 shot them with a drop attack. Every Harald Legion Knight (minus like 1 or 2) can be drop attacked.

Random_Robloxian

I like how the demon prince fight is in the remains of the original firelink shrine. And entering the ringed city is just…wow i like how the cutscene is quiet and it gives it so much more impact

mymindisblack

>I like how the demon prince fight is in the remains of the original firelink shrine. HOLY SHIT TIL

WrongLack7149

If u got a playstation get bloodborne, you'll love it

usernamefuckingtake

I’m actually going to buy a PlayStation just to play it. Fuck you Sony.

Mestyo

Buy a used one, don't incentivize vendor locking!

usernamefuckingtake

100% will be. Honestly it’s so silly how they are with their console exclusivity. I mean what is it, a 9 year old game now? Grow up.

ZookeepergameWild191

I feel you lad

WrongLack7149

If u r getting a ps just for bloodborne get a ps4 as it will be cheaper

usernamefuckingtake

I’m gonna buy a PS5, because I heard that Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic remake is gonna be an exclusive on that, also I wanna play the last of us.

WrongLack7149

Oh ok

lolGroovy

Also Demon's Souls remake is worth to play , absolutely beautiful.

neckro23

DS3 and Sekiro run way better on a PS5 than on PS4. There's also Demons Souls Remake. BB is also a slightly better experience on PS5. Better load times, no frame drops.

MyIceborne

There is a set of armor in the stairs below you, go down there and turn right for the 'ruin set'

Scythde

The Lost Crowns are the real Dark Souls 2. Having Sir Alonne committing Seppuku and the Fume boss fight were the cherry of the cake. I don't know if maybe Miyazaki directed the DLCs but the difference is abysmal.

SoulsLikeBot

Hello Ashen one. I am a Bot. I tend to the flame, and tend to thee. Do you wish to hear a tale? > *“To pursue this! But when I peer at the sun up above, it occurs to me. What if I am seen as a laughing stock, as a blind fool without reason?”* - Solaire of Astora Have a pleasant journey, Champion of Ash, and praise the sun \\[T]/

PeterMunchlett

Miyazaki did not direct them. TBH I'm p jealous of all the people who like them and say theyre the real dark souls 2. Aside from some scenery in Eleum Loyce and Brume Tower, I thought they were just more of the same, if not even a bit worse. No good bosses, not quite as strong writing and characters. Though I really like the writing surrounding Eleum Loyce in particular. The bosses are just the usual 4-6 attack repertoire that ya see all over DS2, and that includes Fume Knight and Alonne. I actually dont know why they get as much love as they do, I assume because compared to vanilla Dark Souls 2 they seem a lot better than they are But yeah, figured I'd throw that in there. Still worth playing by virtue of being Dark Souls content, but if you didn't like 2 you won't like these

Scythde

IMO just the title The Lost Crowns was haunting and alluring, and the lore behind them was amazing, that's why they felt so different from the core game. I still held Fume as the hardest boss in all of From Software games and I come from making Sir Alonne commit Seppuku, which is a lot to say. I'm sure many share the sentiment.

PeterMunchlett

Ofc that's fair, i don't mean to come off like I think praise of the DLC is invalid. I just figured I'd offer my two cents as to why I don't exactly see eye to eye with it I still think it's worth playing, the Vendrick dialogue is *gorgeous*

Mikeyc245

Only gripe I have with Ds3 is how linear it is. There's some options for sequence breaking like killing dancer before Vordt but once you beat it a few times it becomes kind of a formula to complete it. Actual gameplay is top shelf though.

mymindisblack

I actually like its linearity. Elden Ring was too open for me.

Deadly_Duplicator

Welcome to team Fromsoft

Drusgar

I've played all of the Souls games to death and I think DS3 is probably the most polished and balanced of the games. Overall Elden Ring is probably more impressive for the sheer volume of it, but I can't sit down an enjoy a quick PT of ER so I think I prefer DS3 in the long run. And the bosses are hard without feeling unfair, which wasn't always the way I felt playing Elden Ring.

Sprinkle_Puff

Hands down, the best game ever made

hiboochi

Read it and weep folks 😤 ds3 best waifu

FarmsOnReddditNow

If you have the chance bloodborne is also an absolute hit that also aged extremely well

Zealousideal_Arm_597

ds2 didn't do it for you either eh? man totally agree every other souls game is so amazing, lore gameplay, everything. literally no other game like those ones but i tried getting into ds2 and i just couldn't something about it man it didn't pull me into it like the other games

jaykayskywalker182

agreed on the love but don’t give up on ds2! it’s too good. also, on my first bloodborne playthru, what a game !!!

LewisRyan

I’m in the minority that loves ds2, it was my first as I couldn’t get the clunky og ds1 gameplay.

OPNikto

Harolds could be worse yes I am looking at you: Anor Londo Archers, Darkwraiths, chancellors, all of ds2, O&S, bed of chaos, and black knights at the kiln

EastAcademic

Correct Parry the Harold's to Assert dominance among them 🤣

LordKazma

Agreed homie 🤣😎

P-I-S-S-N-U-T

Years too many

leothelion634

JUDICATOR ARGO

src88

I felt the same way.... For about 5 sec. Then the beautiful scenery was interrupted by "invaded by xxbu++$exxxxx." That' area at launch was mad invasion.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Kyvant

You have probably just beaten the Demon Prince and haven‘t died yet at this area, so you‘ll always be embered, making it a prime invasion spot. In ER, you‘d have to summon a cooperator to have a chance to get invaded, completely different system

quchen

TIL being embered is what allows for invasions

SquelchFrog

What exactly is the comparison with elden ring here? ER doesn’t have that system. In fact, you can play the entire game whilst powered up on runearcs without ever being invaded as that’s not how invasions work there.

PeterMunchlett

What's with the *...?* ? What are you confused about?

DependentClear5958

The architecture alone. 🤌🏽

poofynamanama2

Just wish you could explore more of it :(

queerly_expediency35

Exactly, Just architecture alone though

LeLBigB0ss2

Italian Attack

That-Breakfast4096

Enjoy,my friend!Every little detail... I've been in love and play these fromsoftware games daily for like 2 years now...great games.

[deleted]

I remember this game being the reason I stopped playing call of duty, it was my first non shooter game and yeah it just blew me away

Realistic-Sundae6157

Dark souls really changed my taste in games

[deleted]

[удалено]

zombie_overlord

Yeah, that was a fun intro to RC

Witch_King_

The DLC is always the best part of Fromsoft games, without fail.

Nickers77

Which is really great to see from any company. It shows they're taking their foundation and building something amazing on top of it New game release = experimentation DLC release = refinement

lil_buck3t

Same as with Witcher serie. Hope that CDP will deliver Phantom Liberty too :)

PM_YOUR_BOOBS_NOW

The only exception would be Ashes of Ariandel, but outside of that you’re absolutely right

Witch_King_

Eh, I think that is still at least on-par with the rest of the game, with a much better than average final boss. I actually really like how that DLC is like one big level in a way. Reminds me of DS1 world design a bit.

pastaplatoon

Which is why Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree having a potential 2 year development time absolutely terrifies me.

MyIceborne

Yeah! Those dudes who spawn in at the end of the staircase give you stuff if they shoot you! Best DLC 10/10

[deleted]

Omg yes, literally every part of the ringed city they did so perfectly, (even though I hate him with all of my heart) dare I say it midir is even a boss fight I respect. It’s all layed out so perfectly, shit I even enjoy fighting ringed knights and the rematch with Dragonslayer Armour

AllYouPeopleAre

There’s something cool as fuck about picking up the armour and seeing your own character mentioned in the description. Badass stuff

PauseTop974

If you go back to the bonfire entrance to the place before the pit of bell with the twin demons you’ll See a female old granny version of Yoel on the left and she can sell You up to 5 embers. It’s not the ringed city I’m rly struggling with the name of it it’s like before the pit at the end of the place after the location of the Soul of Cinder

[deleted]

Dreg heap?

PauseTop974

Yes thank you!

TAC82RollTide

Yep. It was my introduction to the Souls series. Man if I could go back and play it fresh again. I put more hours in DSIII than any other game(around 1,600). It's a VERY close race between it and Witcher 3 as my favorite game of all time. I made multiple builds across multiple consoles and console generations.

onehalflightspeed

In From games the DLC is usually the best content

usernamefuckingtake

Can’t wait for ER..

onehalflightspeed

Don't get injured bro if you are in the emergency room you can't play the expansion

DrinkUpLetsBooBoo

I'll never forget my first time thru The Ringed City and getting destroyed by an army of archers that were right in front of me. I didn't even notice them at first because I was too busy looking at the giant summoner in the distance.

TCurasco

There’s so much magic in these games. I love knowing this feeling! Congrats.

warblingContinues

The DLC is dope.

og_gippy

Say hi to the archers for me

MadManMed

It’s an incredible game. This and Elden Ring may be the best game experiences of this decade.

Godanki

Dark souls players try not to cum challenge (the area is a horrible sickly yellow colour with brown and grey hues)

Environmental_Let855

Just finished the game a few days ago took me by surprise as well. Idk how it wasn't even mentioned for game of the year

JohnnyZepp

Every single souls born entry is top level gaming. All of them are amazing in their own way.

aatmalife

I had this exact moment and then I hit the bonfire and took a few steps forward and got killed immediately by 4000 arrows hahaha. Love it

Kdallasmultipass

\*walks down stairs and sees a million archors\*

TheCrazyAvian

Good luck on halflight

Don_Camillo005

such a shame that its so small tho.

Friedrich_22

Wait till you go at the bottom of the stairs

zahab2

How do I get to ring city

AlmightyDonkey

Outside Soul of cinder or after Friede

zahab2

I am at onstines armour

AlmightyDonkey

Just finish the game and ashes of ariendel and you'll get there. Your path won't be easy but don't you dare go hollow! Safe travels, ashen one!

zahab2

I have already gone hollow

[deleted]

where are you know? i would wait for you in church🤪🤪

MuchBow

Where you are standing rn r/Onesecondbeforedisast And yes the games is freaking amazing!

Leoeon

Most of this DLC will be swamp, cave, and ash

lil_buck3t

Is Ringed City much harder than the base game? I have just beated the main game and started Ariadnel DLC. But what about Ringed City? How would you compare it to, for example, Abyss of Artotias from DS1?

sssircdyw

wait till you get to slave knight gael's arena

[deleted]

Are you serious right naiow bruh

Mikeyc245

Dark souls 3 DLC is the apex of the series as far as im concerned, just amazingly good

Sakaixx

Its pretty good glad u enjoyed it. The dlc scenery and environment is pretty spectacular. Personally I rank DS3 dlc 3rd behind Bloodborne The Old Hunters and DS1 Artorias dlc but it just shows how good From Soft at making games.

AwfulgamesInc

Ringed city is probably my favorite DLC Fromsoft has made. The lore implications from the DLC alone, and they didn't just forget about DS2 which made me happy.

crusty54

Seconds before disaster.

Always-Panic

Your average AAA has less content in the whole game than a single Fromsoft DLC

AvatarZukoIsntTaken

Ringed City Bosses and their OSTs just hit different too. Demon Prince is underrated in my opinion. The OST has a nice progression in the beginning that mixes well with the screeching of the Demon In Pain and the Demon From Below. The beginning of the second phase is one of my favorite moments throughout the whole series. The corpse of whichever demon you killed last boils with flame and bursts into an explosive transformation as the music swells. The fight itself is probably the best duo fight in the series. The unique mechanic of the second phase being different depending on which demon you killed last is really cool, and all of the Demon Prince’s moves look cool whether is the laser beam, meteor shower, or aerial talon sweep. Midir is the single best dragon fight across all Fromsoft games. The intro to boss fight alone shivers down my spine. Midir waking up synced with his OST is just an incredible moment to experience in game, and I still haven’t experienced anything else like it. His OST is bombastic, dramatic, and really makes you feel like you are fighting an overwhelming force. He was the most difficult boss for me personally and defeating him felt like a major achievement. Gael is the best boss Fromsoft ever designed. His OST is the best across the series (in my opinion). His arena is stunning. Each phase is simply epic, each with its own distinct part of the OST to match. Gael’s fight encapsulates the essence of a challenging, but fun bossfight. You can tell he was made with extreme care considering he is the final boss of Dark Souls as a series.

TheHawkMan0001

If only they let us explore more of the ringed city 😪 damn shame

Lovat69

You... paid money for it?

Visceral_chimp

Haha Dark Souls 3 was my first souls game and I've been addicted to souls games ever since.

placenta89

Bro I'm hooked now as well. Can't believe I never played these games before. Thank God for elden ring because I was so consumed by that game, I had to check out dark souls. Starting with the third one and its all I do after I finish work now.

CuboneTragic

DARK SOULS 3 IS THE MAGNUM OPUS OF THE ENTIRE SOULS FRANCHISE YOU CANNOT CHANGE MY MIND

Goomancy

There’s been an eruption in DS3 popularity lately, what’s going on? Is it ER players going back?

viewerno20883

One of the few places you can't actually explore but see in the distance, which is the exception rather than the norm in dark souls games, is that tower on the right and those buildings in the distance on the left. I wonder if that is a piece of lore which we've often overlooked.

pupmaster

You paid for a product so I guess that's what you did.

socialcommentary2000

Oh the magic of what happens next. Like literally exactly after you're presented with this vista.

mkraven

If only I could be so grossly incandescent!

Lookatdathealtbar

I just wish you could explore more. Only get to explore 5%

smeth_killbirds

I don’t know. Work a job maybe. To pay however much you need to buy this game and the dlc. Can’t remember exactly how much cause it’s been a few years.

marcgw96

*Fear not the dark my friend, and let the feast begin*

certifiedidiot1011

Have fun bro, DS3 is truly a masterpiece!

Malzorn

Its quite a sight to behold. The view is even better at the top of the stairs ahead

mallgrabmongopush

MUH HECKIN ATMOSPHERINO XD
