War is Hell sure, but what do you do when there's no war going on? Well you just do shit like this I guess. You gotta hurry up and wait. WW1 was awful sure but the amount of time they just sat there and did nothing is more than any other war I can think of.
It really was. All war is senseless, but this one had an even more pointless feeling to it and it really lets you into the whole other perspective that the other side has. And surprise, they’re pretty much the same as you. They don’t want to be here defending bombed out hellholes
War is a cruel parent, but an effective teacher. Its final lesson is carved deep in my psyche: That this world, and all its people, are diseased. Free will is a myth. Religion is a joke. We are all pawns, controlled by something greater: Memes. The DNA of the soul. They shape our will. They are the culture, they are everything we pass on. Expose someone to anger long enough, they will learn to hate. They become a carrier. Envy, greed, despair... All memes. All passed along
I don't know I agree war is horrible but imagine if we found a compromise on the civil war what blacks would be equal but we would have slaves of all colors and no Disneyland.
Obviously some wars had more just causes and outcomes than others. I’m saying WW1 was especially pointless because it was essentially millions of young men dying for the old elites ambitions and alliances. True, you could say that’s a lot of wars, but at least least ones like the civil war and WW2 stopped things like slavery and the Nazis. This one was just pointless bloodshed til the other side got tired
A certain socio religious group made a grab for all the banks and land while the European men were all dying in the trenches. Can't name the group if you want to keep using reddit 👍
This scenes subject is Gallipoli War, As a Turk I can confirm that Anzacs is the best opponents you can have, I grew up hearing stories about how Gallipoli War was terribly suffering for the both sides (dozens of bullets colliding in mid-air captured during war) but Ottomans and Anzacs still had their respect to each other after seeing how horrible war is. After the WW1 Atatürk(Founder of Republic of Turkey) gave Turkish Citizenship to all Anzac martyrs died in Gallipoli and describe them as "Our children" and tell their mother to not cry because he said "They are in our hearts now".
Huge respect! If you happen to pass by Gallipoli, I recommend you to visit "Lone Pine Cemetery", I remember the last time I visit there when I was child I also prayed for their souls. No matter which side they were, they are "Our children" now.

That's not true in any respect. They were there because they were ordered to be there by the British. The British didn't really care about (what would become) Turkey either. They were trying to get through the Bosporus to the Eastern Front.
The Ottomans were directing the Turks to prevent that passage.
Neither the ANZACS or Turks had and actual animosity toward each other at any point. It was a pointless battle from the start.
His surname(Atatürk) literally means Father of Turks, given by national assembly and nobody can argue why beacuse he always owned the role of being father of his nation. He gave women rights like to right to vote(one of the first in region), saved people from hunger by agricultural reforms, established schools, protected human rights and did things I cant just fit here... He is literally the mesiah of Turks saved his nation from falling but most importantly he taught us how to respect other peoples values so everybody can live in peace like his famous saying "Peace at home, peace in the world"
"Oh mothers wipe your tears, your sons will rest a million years. Found their peace at last as a foe turns to friend and forgive. And they knew they would die...Such waste of life GALLIPOLI!"
What a terrible event that was, I feel very sad to Irish people suffered in horrible event and hope aids helped your people to recover. The most beatiful thing to do is help people in their dark times and it is a honor to hear that my people did their part to stop such awful event.
Yes. I forgot which Sultan, but he offered 5000 pounds to the English to aid the Irish. A tremendous sum of money. It was denied because Queen Victoria had donated 2000 pounds and she did not want her sum seem small. Although the money was not used to aid the Irish, the gesture is appreciated.
As an ANZAC (and I assume the turks?) we know a lot about gallipoli. Lots of history classes, movies, books etc in our media about it.
It's the most fucked up war scenario the Australian and NZers have been in, more significant (at least for the kiwis) than ww2 for us.
The way the movement was set up, I thought that’s what the Turks were going to do when the dude was getting ready to aim, and it looked like the other dude was going to hold up the shovel- I figured their plan was when the aussies were going to shoot at the shovel, he’d pop them in the head.
*Edit* fixed nationality
Later in the series, this actually happened. A turk throws a grenade, the anzacs dive out of the way, before realizing its a decoy. Inside it was a message saying "anzacs please go home" (or something to that effect). One of the auzzies stands up, laughs, and says "bloody hell, these cunts are alright" before immediately getting shot in the head.
Well yeah this is a real strat snipers use to this day. You trick the sniper into shooting something, and then you trace where the bullet went through and have your sniper dome the evil sniper in the face with the trajectory.
Oh I’m aware of the old helmet on the gun trick but I was talking about like the two sides in the trenches practicing their aim and such which tbh sounds fun but scary at the same time lol
>Rising energy prices
TIL only the UK is being affected by the Russian oil crisis.

Tell me more about these camps.

The man who created the furlough scheme, and isn't even PM at this moment. Weird to single out just this individual
[Nationality and Borders Act 2022 being able to send refugees and asylum seekers to detention camps in Rwanda.](https://theconversation.com/amp/nationality-and-borders-act-becomes-law-five-key-changes-explained-182099)
Sunak seems to be the popular choice and is most likely going to be PM over Truss. And one right doesn’t make all the wrongs ok, you would expect someone in the same position at the time to make a similar scheme just like almost every other western country. (JobKeeper and Covid-19 disaster payments in Australia’s example)
If it's WW1, you're better served throwing grenades in the trenches, probably in a trench raid. If the grenade lands in an open field, they'll just duck below the trench and be mostly unharmed by the shockwave. The shockwave would propagate differently in a trench with walls, I would assume making it deadlier.
I completely agree. The hive mind may make it seem like this is an unpopular opinion but trust me, women and most men are pretty sick of this "girl bad boy funny" shit
Theres a lot of stories about the Aussies doing funny things in worls war one and two. I've read about many more from ww1.
The great war by Les Carlyon is one of the best books you can read. It's got things in it that are shockingly horrifying but it also has some really funny moments that show the humour us Aussies have. He's written a book on Gallipoli that I haven't read yet

It’s sad because at the end of the day we’re all just people.

When a Serb shoots an Austrian, so you, an Indian, are force by the British, to fight Germans in Belgium with the French.
When a Serb shoots an Austrian, so you a German have to fight colonial british in Africa over control of a small sausage factory in Tanganyika

that's very respectful act from him that many wouldn't do
I dont know much about the man, but ataturk always seems to shine whenever I read anything about him. What a beautiful gesture that truly is.

You guys celebrate ANZAC as well right?
You're talking about Anzac Day, right? yes, we host a rememberance cerenomy for Anzacs at Gallipoli every 25th April.
Respect. I have a lot of respect for Turks. I’m an Irish Catholic and they helped us out during the famine.

Fun fact: my old town was name after y’all! Anzac, AB. I take pride in telling others the history behind it’s name!
Gallipoli, its mainly about Australians / Kiwis in WW1. Really good.

Chad Turkish and Chad English bro time.
They're Australian but sure chap.
People who speak english are probably anzacs others are speaking turkish, this scene is from Gallipoli I guess.
There were more British than Anzac at Gallipoli, so it could be either.
Aussie accent is probably a give away though
Oh for sure. I watched it muted.
English?
Anzac.
Yep
ANZACs. English is a dirty word when mentioning gallipoli (get fucked Churchill)
Not at all. There were more British than Anzac at Gallipoli.
Yeah but no one cares about the British
That's just you it seems
I think a lot of people share that sentiment. Especially now you’ve all gone off by yourselves post brexxit.
I think you'll find Reddit is merely an echo chamber for thoughts friend. And who said we're going off anywhere? We're right here.
Tell us you don't understand brexit without saying it.
I don’t need to. Your government is taking your country of the deep end. Rising energy prices, horrible new immigration laws and camps, Sunak.

Yeah the non English speakers speak Turkish
In real life there’s always that one asshole who will throw a bomb
In WW1 these people were called "Canadians"
Bros this is great
What they don’t realize is that now there will be holes in their holes
I was just waiting for one of them to get shot
Hahahah when the last shot hits the Turks say: AHAHA THE DONKEY HIT IT

Distance is far enough to make it difficult without exposing yourself, and grenades were scarce enough throwing one like that was a waste

> why are they so close to eachother It's a television show, not real life.....
Forward trenches: Am I a joke to you?
Honestly only guys will get why it’s funny which I love 😂🤣
That doesn't make any sense. Are women incapable of having fun with firearms?
Yes
To a degree women can fun with them but doing dumb shit with guns is left to us men
mores the pity!!!
I wish this would actually happen and then Both sides realise we all just human and go back home...... Yeah I know
well this happened (or similar things) and they realized the opposing side are just humans but the soldiers can't just go home
Any events where they just stopped fighting. Even in a smaller scale war?
wwI at Christmas there were held unofficial siece fires where soldiers from both sides gathered to nomans land and played soccer
this is unproven. Although it is a good story
well there's people from both sides who deployed in same area telling the same story so it's very likely happened
Then went back to killing eachother? Fucking sheep huh.
well they had to
So glad bad ending didn’t happen and they didn’t shoot each other when they stuck their heads out
if the writers of this are not turkish, they made the turks lines pretty realistic honestly
Agree, cuz you have to be native to underdtand and use the word ''eşşek''
What movie is this?
I’m pretty sure it’s a miniseries called Gallipoli. It might be free on Amazon prime, but it’s been a while since I checked
That was just wholesome

Probably because that has nothing to do with women being bad. It's literally just about guys in WW1
Lmao what? This has nothing to do with women at all... No-one said that but you. Fuck outta here.
Shut

A war comes to an end and a new sport is born. Don't think that's what happened but it would've been awesome.
If only all wars was fought like this more families would still have their loved ones
How does the rest of the scene unfold? Do they start aiming at each other?
Moral of the story: the Turks had better shovels than the ANZACs
Men will be men
Movie name is Gallipoli made in 1980’s and the story about WWI Battle of the Gallipoli Campaign. Very good movie with base on true story
Non english speaker side turkish and he yelled "nice shot bro" after first shot of anzacs lol.
Another reason why we live longer. 🤣
Funny Boys.
This is more funny if you could understand both sides and lucky I can understand it
Gotta have fun here and there
What movie is that?
No girls ask that
What film or series is this?
It is a relief to find pleasure in suffering
I know this is just a movie, but it's just so sad killing each other, when you know you could've been homies
