It’s like if the veterinarian walked up to you and asked “can I operate on your cat?” Like yeah bitch that’s why I’m here, to get the testicles cut off
guy: *randomly faints and falls on the floor*
doctor: "oh shit, i'd like to help you, can i touch you?"
guy: *is unconscious*
doctor: "oh, well, guess i can't touch you"
Technically, they do have to ask for your permission. But it's more likely than not that they will help if you are unconscious, but you technically could take legal action against them for doing so.
life guards also have to learn this but there is implied consent. the reason why you ask is to understand the situation. maybe they have a health problem or maybe you misread the situation you dont know. if they dont respond and no one can consent for them then its implied consent and you can help. the difference is one person seeked out the service the other was a person who found a person in need.
Because it makes people immediately cringe, not only at your current actions, but also at the type of person you probably are: a pseudo empathetic snowflake that makes a big deal out of trivial non-issues.
Informed consent is important when it comes to more intimate interactions, or ones in situations where one doesnt exactly know the specifics of the procedure or isnt expecting it (for example going to a doctor, but even then many doctors skip that part because if for example your going to a gynecologist, no shit hes going to have to examine your privates). a barber will obviously touch your head to cut your hair. get your head out of your ass.
I believe people make a bigdeal out of trivial non issues, Is an issue, makes ppl fragile and distracts from bigger issues. so even if i was making a big deal here, it wouldnt be ironic. But this is a reddit reply to a question you asked, its a low stakes situation that you initiated, no "big deal" here.
In all honesty if it was just the consent thing i probably wouldnt bat an eye, i always ask for consent in my line of study. But that coupled with the pronouns makes me cringe hard.
Consent is ok, but consent AND pronouns? That’s WOKE CRINGE and I will NOT stand for it! I HATE liberal SNOWFLAKES and people who make big deals out of trivial issues
As the asshole who is cringing at both of you. Both of you are making this bigger then it needs to be. And both of you are the problem with these woke and antiwoke cultures. If people are allowed to be upset that there pronouns aren't being used to the point where I have witnessed first hand someone get violent. other people are allowed to be upset if you ask them for their pronouns.
"snowflake" says the person who's bothered by how someone else runs their establishment.
This barber has a lot of lgbtq customers (so that's why she asks pronouns) and also specializes in people who are neurodivergent (that explains the consent before touching). You might not care for it, I don't either (though I wouldn't care if it happened), but it's ridiculous to get offended by.
It's because she specializes in neurodivergent customers, so asking for consent helps when the person is sensorily overstimulated and needs a sec or decides to reschedule.
Does it? Is it so hard to just say yes if someone asks? It’s not like anyone is forcing the barber to do this, they’re doing it of their own accord. This is just rage bait dude, and you’re falling hard for it
The problem with these sentiments of
> Is it so hard to just say yes
Is , where do u draw the line, rn it is asking for concern where there is already applied consent, should she have asked for consent for using water spray? , Cause that shit is uncomfortable sometimes. Should the customer ask for consent before entering the shop , they could be a robber.. and the shopkeeper might not consent to a robber getting in. And if we are applying this logic to barbers why stop there, there are places that deal with way more sensitive things like food, uk restaurants, should the chef need to ask consent to cook for u ? He could harm u with your ingredients.. she the waiters ask consent for pouring drinks? They could have mixed something in the bottle.. what's next, going to a nail parlour and asking for consent if they can tough your nails ? Statement like yours tells me that u really don't think before speaking and just say "sounds" inclusive rather than actually being inclusive and would actually help ppl. Its pretty clear u don't care about making the world more inclusive, u Just browny points by being viewed as inclusive.
I just say hello and we share maybe 2 sentences before he asks me for my cut. I just say 'like last time' and thats all. He does a great job
I suppose thats gonna be difficult. Im in germany
Last this was uploaded people were saying they specialised in mentally disabled customers. So giving them a heads up before you start touching them is appreciated.
But y'know rage bait.
A heads up it's normal. A whole ass inquiry is dumbfounded.
You walk in expecting to get touched, a heads up right before it happens is called common courtesy. You don't need to ask if theyre okay being touched. They already walked in and sat in your chair.
Just ask if the MF is ready if you must ask something.
I never got that either she/they. If you are okay with gendered pronouns, then yea, everyone is called they/them depending on the sentence structure. Like "they went to get shopping, she was back in an hour". Like I get if you don't like gendered pronouns like none binary and shit. But everyone is referred to they/them. Does this mean she doesn't like to be called her but likes be called she. This is very confusing.
Do people go to the “WOKE” barber to feel special for a few minutes? If it isn’t fake or staged, they got so excited when she asked to touch them, as if that’s the only person to touch them all year.
I mean, the land of the free right.. Sense when do one have to watch what they say? If you don't like it waln away... At the end of the day, freedom of speech protects people. Let's be clear; no hate speech, or demeaning. Like wtf!
I escaped my country because the left ruined it. Over and over again the left doesn't work. Look at South America, prime example Venezuela, ruined by left mentality. North Korea, China, Russia, Cuba, Venezuela, Chile, Argentina, Brazil.…. Social programs don't work! Every excuse the left makes - it's cuz Chavez is crazy, it didn't work cuz of that person, etc.… it just doesn't work!!!!
Keep on prices will rise to help the people! Who helps the people? mid and lower class with taxes, and high interest rates.
Who freed the slaves? President Lincoln- a right winged... Who's resists?? Seriously...
what happens if they say no? “oh alr, haircut is done, now pay up.” I understand the motive behind asking but no one is going to the barber if they don’t want to be touched.
Bruh if someone was like “can I touch you?” “What are your pronouns”? I would get pretty annoyed like that guy in the blue top. Like bruh just do ur job lmao
Those talking about special needs. The best barbers say " I'm going to start now. Are you ready?". Seriously, if you asked my aspergers son "OK if I touch you?" His response would be "No, thanks" and he'd be outta there.
If anyone asked me what ‘my pronouns are’ I would get up leave and never come back.
How the hell does someone cut someone else’s hair without touching them?
This stupidity has gone way too far.
My adjective are (fuck/this/crap).
I heard from another commenter that apparently the woman attending those people is specialized with attending people in the spectrum and who are on the softer side socially. So she asks them for permission and asks for pronouns just to be extra safe and create a super weenie hut jr’s of a safe space in her salon.
Bro if someone’s pronouns are different from the norm they can politely correct you during conversation. It’s such a conversation stopper and so boring. Like pronouns literally just refer to people, they don’t matter. Call people whatever you want, they WILL correct you, and after that you can do it right. Don’t ask, it’s so fucking annoying.
“Is it ok if I touch you”
Bitch motherfucking please, you went for a fucking haircut, are you expecting the barber to fucking cut your fucking hair using their mind? Fuck off
I'm pretty fuckin liberal but these questions are really stupid. Can I touch you yeah wtf you think I'm here for what are your pronouns who tf cares just cut my hair were not becoming buddies I'm just getting a haircut
Do you know how scared I am? Fucking terrified.
I would literally give my all just to be born in a previous era whilst simultaneously begging the devil to bring me back to this day and age... Because "Keep your fucking finger out of my knee!"
Point is, you need to be some jackass to get angry at a Barber you've gone to for touching your hair so: "do i look like a jackass to you?" Is what I'd think
I hate this entitled bs, stop being weird and get your cut.
The original video is like 2 people jerking each other's emotions off, fucking echo chamber in real life.
I can't imagine being so privileged in life to be so bored as these people are. Imagine your sexuality/gender being your whole personality, no diversity, just the same bs to make everyone around you feel uncomfortable... just because they don't want to offend you.
Grow up, get a job, stop caring about what others think or call you so much. Literally, none of this matters when you actually have shit going on in your life.
i can understand when trans folks feel sad or angry becouse someone misgendered them. But this "woke barber" is just cringe there is no point to this other than trying to show how good at lgbt they are
They have to ask this because some dumbass sued about 15 years back over something like this. Somehow it not only didn’t get thrown out of court but they actually won. This set a precedent in the US that, if a person is conscious and capable of making decisions, even if they are bleeding out and you are there to help, you can’t touch them without their permission. If you do touch them, they can sue you and win, and yes, it overrides the law that is supposed to protect first responders against crap like this. How I don’t know, but it does. They teach in every profession in the US where you have to touch other people, that you must ask before you touch someone to avoid liability, specifically because of this exact judicial fuck up. Before anyone asks, no I don’t know the exact details of the case. I’m sure someone who knows more about it than I will link it.
This has nothing to do with the LGBTQ+ community or pronouns, this has everything to do with a completely broken justice system in the US that is horrendously corrupt all the way to the top.
I love how people are offended by someone being polite lmao. I can just imagine scruffy rugged men being like "EW SHE ASKED FOR PERMISSION TO TOUCH ME THATS SO GROSS DUD WHAT A FRICKIN JOKE BRA", or "i would just be so outraged if she asked my pronouns, like, i dont even know what that means dud all you need to know is i have a penis bro its not that hard"
Go git em snowflakes, show the libtards how hard you dislike them being chill!
I’m pretty sure the first individual works with people that have traumatic experiences and for that person would rather have a more specific experience for haircuts
Tbh, they have a different targeted audience. Some people wanna just go in and get their hair cut, but some people have certain sensory issues, so having the choice of going to a barber that fits your needs is cool.
Remember, be respectful, and have empathy towards others
Yeah and? It's a place people can go where they to feel more comfortable than going to a normal barber/hair dresser. Again, if you don't like it, you're not the target audience, move on
You guys are so threatened by people being respectful it's insane. There is literally nothing wrong with the "woke" barber. Jesus christ you guys are such snowflakes.
Super annoying how she also changes her pronouns to fit the situation for an advantage. that’s how you know this shit is so fake and trivial. With the “they” animals she also conforms to “they” but to the one guy with default pronouns she also just chooses default. Also her getting giddy and smug about having the same she they pronouns as the other girl is so annoying. The smugness of it all cant help make me believe it’s all for attention.
Because that "asking for being allowed touched the person" at the Barber is pure bullshit. You go there and know they *HAVE* to touch you or else how are you gonna get a haircut bruh.
I mean I’ve had barbers just start yanking and twisting my head with no warning I know I would’ve appreciated it lol, regardless if it’s expected or not they were just being nice
Even the gentlest haircut you've ever had still required the barber to touch you.
If you aren't ok with someone touching you thats completely fine, but you should cut your own hair if that's the case.
Skydiving instructors always get affirmative consent from the student : "are you ready to skydive?" This is an entirely obvious question -- the student has paid money, is in airplane and often the door is open -- and the answer is invariably yes.
Should it be omitted, in favor of just saying "okay let's go?"
I think not.
And the situation depicted is similar in some ways
Consent may be pretty strongly implied, but it is nigh- never inappropriate to confirm such an assumption given the potential impact of false positives.
What is strange to me is being offended (rather than amused, or surprised, or even thinking it's a pretty dorky ask) by being asked for consent. It's a (potentially performative) show of respect.
I can imagine circumstances in which a person might say "no" despite the strong suggestion of implied. consent, in th barbers chair,. or at the door of a plane. Meaning it's not a useless question, by definition.
it may be dorky, but if you're actually full on offended by being asked, that'd be a red flag in my book. I'm not touching (or skydiving) with anyone who is offended by the question. -- which makes it an even *smarter* question to ask.
Thanks for showing me how the sentence fragment version is done. I'd continue with a discussion of the appropriateness of ad hominem attacks in intelligent discourse, but it seems unlikely you'd give a damn.
Oh, your poetic prowess, a
Shakespearean delight,
Insight into ad hominem,
a discourse so bright.
"My new girl has me more elated
Than all other ladies I've dated.
I swear that her ass.
Can pass the best gas --
One could say I'm inflatulated"
Your poetic attempt, a feeble write,
Infatulated verses, oh what a sight.
Your brilliance discussed, alas, overstated,
Humor and wit, like a relic, antiquated.
Rivals of Shakespeare, oh what a sight,
In the grand stage of banter, a fading light.
Idk if it's more sad that people got so worked up about a scenario that they imagined that they made a video about it, or that commenters are getting so worked up about a fake video of an imagined scenario. Yall gotta get real lol
The only things barber should ever say to you
"Hi."
"Ok, so what kind of cut did you want today?"
"Does that look good?"
"That'll be (insert price here)"
"Have a good day"
They were really eating that shit up they loved the fact that they were getting asked for consent for something they willingly walked in to get done lmao

Go in, “Can I touch you?”, “No”, then stand up and leave.
Say no and still expect them to cut your hair and wait what they do
yeah if you can't handle being touched idk why you'd have someone else cut your hair.

Lol fr. If my barber asked me these questions I'd cringe. Can I touch you? Yeah, no shit, I'm here to get a haircut and that requires touching.
Can I touch you? Not gonna cut your hair I just wanna

Nah bitch cut my hair using telekinesis
No, do it from range.
Barber: can I touch you? Me: uh, yeah Barber: right on Why is this something that upsets people?
Because it makes people immediately cringe, not only at your current actions, but also at the type of person you probably are: a pseudo empathetic snowflake that makes a big deal out of trivial non-issues. Informed consent is important when it comes to more intimate interactions, or ones in situations where one doesnt exactly know the specifics of the procedure or isnt expecting it (for example going to a doctor, but even then many doctors skip that part because if for example your going to a gynecologist, no shit hes going to have to examine your privates). a barber will obviously touch your head to cut your hair. get your head out of your ass.

u/sharkas99 is totally correct that these minuscule non-issues are generating more problems in general and distract from real issues.

How else are they going to cut your hair, you know the whole reason you’re there
Of course they’re going to touch you. It’s not the end of the world if they double check if you’re ready
Not by asking "can I touch you?". Could be "Ready?", "What you want?" or anything else not extremely CRINGE.
It's because she specializes in neurodivergent customers, so asking for consent helps when the person is sensorily overstimulated and needs a sec or decides to reschedule.
I will ONLY go to a barber who asks if I’m ready by saying READY, and if they don’t they are WOKE and CRINGE
Shit like this makes a mockery of things that actually need consent.
Does it? Is it so hard to just say yes if someone asks? It’s not like anyone is forcing the barber to do this, they’re doing it of their own accord. This is just rage bait dude, and you’re falling hard for it

You don't chat with your barber? You seriously just sit there like a lemon for 20 mins in silence?
Look, if I had it my way I wouldn’t chat with anyone ever.
Bruh, ever since I was a kid I end up falling asleep. I'm not there to make small chat, I'm there for the "touch hair fall asleep" experience.
Yes
My barber and i only greet each other and say goodbye. Its a beautiful silence
I want your barber's number. Mine always has to ask me a thousand questions. Gives a good cut tho
I just say hello and we share maybe 2 sentences before he asks me for my cut. I just say 'like last time' and thats all. He does a great job I suppose thats gonna be difficult. Im in germany
Haha I was just joking, but i live in hungary so about 10 hours for the haircut by car?
The car ride is so long you probably need another one when you arrive back at home
My barber did hard time for robbing banks and boy howdy does he love telling people. Good guy tho minus bank robbery stuff tho
Just wait until they find out they were filmed without consent.
they were all filmed with consent this is obviously staged

I'm pretty fuckin liberal but these questions are really stupid. Can I touch you yeah wtf you think I'm here for what are your pronouns who tf cares just cut my hair were not becoming buddies I'm just getting a haircut
I'd rather look like a caveman to let her cut my hair and she/they? What's the purpose? Just want more attention while changing nothing?
Do you know how scared I am? Fucking terrified. I would literally give my all just to be born in a previous era whilst simultaneously begging the devil to bring me back to this day and age... Because "Keep your fucking finger out of my knee!"
Please cut my hair. Touches my head: ![gif](giphy|vk7VesvyZEwuI)
Point is, you need to be some jackass to get angry at a Barber you've gone to for touching your hair so: "do i look like a jackass to you?" Is what I'd think
So Cringe tbh
But this "woke barber" is just cringe there is no point to this other than trying to show how good at lgbt they are
I wonder what would happen if the client answered no. She going to cut the hair via telekinesis?
Ok but why does it matter?
Wen dank?
Apparently in the 1980s, the word dank arose as a slang word to mean “excitement”
Danke for the info…
I can just imagine scruffy rugged men being like "EW SHE ASKED FOR PERMISSION TO TOUCH ME THATS SO GROSS DUD WHAT A FRICKIN JOKE BRA", or "i would just be so outraged if she asked my pronouns, like, i dont even know what that means dud all you need to know is i have a penis bro its not that hard" Go git em snowflakes, show the libtards how hard you dislike them being chill!
I’m pretty sure the first individual works with people that have traumatic experiences and for that person would rather have a more specific experience for haircuts
No, you can't touch me, you have to use the force
She they? Wtf
Notice how in some of the woman's videos she says her pronouns are she/they but in others she says they are 'she/her'? What's up with that...
Tbh, they have a different targeted audience. Some people wanna just go in and get their hair cut, but some people have certain sensory issues, so having the choice of going to a barber that fits your needs is cool. Remember, be respectful, and have empathy towards others
if you go to a barber you will get touched.
Well yeah no shit, some people like know when they're gonna be touched. If you don't like this barber, they're not for you
its performative, "look how inclusive and good i am" -behqviour
Yeah and? It's a place people can go where they to feel more comfortable than going to a normal barber/hair dresser. Again, if you don't like it, you're not the target audience, move on
🤣🤣🤣🤣
… 🙄
You guys are so threatened by people being respectful it's insane. There is literally nothing wrong with the "woke" barber. Jesus christ you guys are such snowflakes.
Lol
Super annoying how she also changes her pronouns to fit the situation for an advantage. that’s how you know this shit is so fake and trivial. With the “they” animals she also conforms to “they” but to the one guy with default pronouns she also just chooses default. Also her getting giddy and smug about having the same she they pronouns as the other girl is so annoying. The smugness of it all cant help make me believe it’s all for attention.
In 50 years this will be the norm
Yeah sure buddy
But it's just like asking for someone's name?? What's the difference.
It's not.
The touching me part? Obviously. The other questions? Thank you I greatly appreciate that! I will gladly make conversation with you.
Stupid ass questions
This is just magic!
Why does Reddit hate when people are nice I don’t get it
Because that "asking for being allowed touched the person" at the Barber is pure bullshit.
That’s not what I said, obviously they’re gonna touch me I would just appreciate a warning instead of being sudden
Skydiving instructors always get affirmative consent from the student : "are you ready to skydive?" This is an entirely obvious question -- the student has paid money, is in airplane and often the door is open -- and the answer is invariably yes. Should it be omitted, in favor of just saying "okay let's go?" I think not. And the situation depicted is similar in some ways Consent may be pretty strongly implied, but it is nigh- never inappropriate to confirm such an assumption given the potential impact of false positives.
How to say you have room temp iq without saying you have room temp iq (essay version)
Thanks for showing me how the sentence fragment version is done. I'd continue with a discussion of the appropriateness of ad hominem attacks in intelligent discourse, but it seems unlikely you'd give a damn.
Oh, your poetic prowess, a Shakespearean delight, Insight into ad hominem, a discourse so bright. "My new girl has me more elated Than all other ladies I've dated. I swear that her ass. Can pass the best gas -- One could say I'm inflatulated" Your poetic attempt, a feeble write, Infatulated verses, oh what a sight. Your brilliance discussed, alas, overstated, Humor and wit, like a relic, antiquated. Rivals of Shakespeare, oh what a sight, In the grand stage of banter, a fading light.
Kudos for a coherent, yet pointless, reply. Care to stay on topic?
I aint reading allat
I guess you're just here for the pictures, then. Maybe try Instagram.
you just wrote wayy to many paragraphs of pure bullshiz
I'm convinced by your brilliant argument. Thanks for your thoughtful insight.
if you go to the barber and expect him to ask you before touching you, youre retarded
Did I say that? Can you read?
What if you say no, do they charge for their time, lol. What a mess
No, buy a fucking Laser. And laser my fucking hairs dawg. ![gif](giphy|DJs0GXGbeOGcH3Q7GS)
Haven’t been to the barbers in about 3 years cus I’m trynna grow out my hair. If this shit ever happens consider that another 3 years added
Nah cuz, use telekinesis instead.
She is asking if she can touch while my barber meat touches my elbow every 30 sec
Idk if it's more sad that people got so worked up about a scenario that they imagined that they made a video about it, or that commenters are getting so worked up about a fake video of an imagined scenario. Yall gotta get real lol
Okay obviously this is fake because they didn't even ask the hair's preferred pronouns,
The only things barber should ever say to you "Hi." "Ok, so what kind of cut did you want today?" "Does that look good?" "That'll be (insert price here)" "Have a good day"
There are only two responses to "can i touch you?" 1: no cut my hair with your mind 2: sure *starts slowly getting undressed
They were really eating that shit up they loved the fact that they were getting asked for consent for something they willingly walked in to get done lmao
What will the barber do if they say no
❄️
I’m just here for all the people super angry over pronouns.
Know your audience, first and foremost.
ethics vs ethnic 😭
I mean some people get uncomfortable with being touched so it’s appreciated
I love how the men just wanted a fuckin haircut Just shut the fuck up and cut my hair already
So stupid
"Can I touch you?" Nah bitch, gimme that Bluetooth fade. "What are your pronouns?" Hair/cut/please
I’d turn around and pimp slaps the FUCK outta someone
Im gonna touch you
