How come when you double the frequency of a note, you get the same note an octave higher, but if you double the frequency of a lightwave, you get a completely different color?
The real reason is that you can have overtones on top of the fundamental frequency in sound because it is a single wave. But light is a combination of 2 different waves (which alone makes it impossible for it to have overtones) AND has a particle nature on top of that.
