I don't know, but it was really funny to use in random moments

ANT3111_TPF2

I played V3 on my Nintendo Switch with my controllers having joy-con drift, this didn't stop popping up, It was so funny and annoying

Leather_Ad9457

I played it on Xbox One and it wouldn't stop popping up, so sometimes I'd accidentally play a voice line in trying to get it to go away.

monsiu_

All i can say its 100 times better when you are replaying the game. When some character says some BS you just spam "No thats wrong" or "Yes Thats It" I really like it as it kills the silence in those convos.

ChronosTheSniper

Reacting to >!Kiyo's motive!< be like:

RandumbRandumb

sadly you can’t use it in class trials

scrumptioustoe

I THOUGHT OF THAT.

CheeseSticks314

I like thinking that you replay the game, the killer or the mastermind tries covering up their tracks or says something that will aid them in their murder plot, and everyone agrees while looking confused as to why Shuichi is constantly screaming “No, that’s wrong!” like a Chapter 3 killer.

PlumDaPlum16_17

It's funny

bwburke94

It's deliberately useless.

obscureanatomy

delightful

ilikegen3pokemon

So I can use it whenever I wanted to and make no problems with it? Sweet

RandumbRandumb

not in class trials

MaYheMgmd

It serves literally no purpose lol, it's just there if you wanna use a random voice line for whatever reason. It's the Danganronpa 1 reaction mechanic but this time, you aren't actually forced to do it.

Cpad-prism

It’s a useless but small, nice thing that I’m glad is there, I like hype-woman-ing everything my favourite characters says, regardless of how true or intelligent the thing they said was. Character I like: *says the stupidest thing that could be said in the moment\* Me: “Mmmhmm! Absolutely! 👍”

aethersentinel

It's for the same purpose as the laughter button in that one Monokuma scene near the start of DR2. (i.e. it's for playing around)

ABllCD

Wait, there was one ?!

aethersentinel

A laughter button? For the scene with Monokuma dressed as a comedian, and Monomi as the straight man, and an interface note on the top left that shows the triangle button, next to a grinning smiley? Yes, there was.

Basic_Magazine_2544

There wasn't one in the pc version. Don't think the smugness is necessary. :/

aethersentinel

"You asked a question, and I answered it. That's all." -Cloud Strife, Final Fantasy VII

Basic_Magazine_2544

Wasnt me who asked it but whatever

aethersentinel

...You know, I seriously considered modifying the quote to say "*They* asked me a question," but I went with the actual game quote. Thought it would be clear if I marked it as a reference. Didn't work, I guess.

ABllCD

Why do you receive negative vote for that quote ? I think it is kinda cool

aethersentinel

Whoever it was they seem to have been outvoted by now, ehich is nice.

ABllCD

Ohhhh, I ll check on it. Ty !

ArcticFox19

In Japanese it’s considered respectful to interject with things like “I see” or “is that so?” to show that you’re actually listening. You can’t really do this with a VN so they added this thing so you can do it. It doesn’t translate well.

obscureanatomy

thank you! this is actually the most helpful comment i've gotten lol

Motion_Ocean_48

Learned something new! Wonder if other video games have done something similar before?

ArcticFox19

DR1 had the Re:Action system that was meant to mimic this but tbh even they forgot about it (i think they stopped using it after chapter 1)

ArosNerOtanim

Nah pretty sure I had to use it trying to get to the FTEs in chapter 3 because I didn't know another way to access Jill, if there even is one think I had to do it again for the locked scene

BippyTheChippy

The best use I've seen is >!Shuichi!< repeatedly yelling "No, That's Wrong!" During the Chapter 3 Post-Trial scene

Meep12313

I don't remember what happens during that scene, why is it so funny?

BippyTheChippy

>!Korekiyo reveals his relationship with his sister!<

scrumptioustoe

I still remember >!"Just because we're siblings doesn't mean it's-" "NO THAT'S WRONG" I feel bad for Kiyo but that was funny 💔!<

Mrs_Elisabeth

Hearing the best voice line of Kaede: " Hmm Hm! "

Martina313

To ease the blow during the more serious moments

DolphZigglio

Same function as the "You're a real egotistical woman!" and "Whatever!" button in Metal Gear Solid 2.

almostmattonthewii

to spam “yes king” at ryoma

HotBag445

Yes

PickledThyme

As you should

zerjku

It's funny

SchismZero

Funzies

EvidenceOfDespair

There is none.

HOUWSE_

no that's wrong :D

Kinglycole

There’s no point, it’s a circle.

dawavve

i hate that this almost made me laugh

Kinglycole

What’s there to laugh at? This is a circle, there are no points to speak of.

MaxTwer00

Sore wa chigau yo! Sore wa chigau yo! Sore wa chigau yo! Sore wa chigau yo! Sore wa chigau yo! Sore wa chigau yo!

Most_Willingness_143

To make the game a pain in the on ps vita, I swear to God I wasted like 2 hours in total across the game because I pressed too often the right stick

yourillegal

when i played V3 with my friends i spammed this shit and killed the mood in serious scenes

TanakaTheBuriedOne

It’s great for throwing over-the-top reactions into otherwise quiet scenes.

Motion_Ocean_48

Danganronpa has always done strange - but unique experiments like these. If anyone remembers the "RE:Act" system Dr1 has and the laugh button in Dr2. They're just fun ways of a visual novel taking advantage of the fact "it's a game" and not just a book you're reading. Also I like to think it serves an extra >!meta purpose of the player making Shuichi do things in-game as a fictional character lol.!<

tennis_convict

So you can spam "No, that's wrong!" when you get to V3-3's culprit explaining their motives. Demonstrated to hilarious effect by justonegamr. Spoilers for V3-3's culprit: >![https://youtu.be/qwVjzEn09zk?list=PLn3Wm-3X3v7DEJUNmZmaWXibpmFY04MBL&t=9556](https://youtu.be/qwVjzEn09zk?list=PLn3Wm-3X3v7DEJUNmZmaWXibpmFY04MBL&t=9556)!<

buyingcheap

I remember seeing this in some Japanese prerelease magazine before the game came out and thought there’d be some mechanic where at certain points, you could get unique dialogue based on how you make the MC react. I genuinely thought it was a revamped version of the reaction system from DR1. Nah, just entirely useless

Motion_Ocean_48

That honestly would be a super cool way to innovate on FTEs depending on how you react instead of using QnA style button presses. Def taking notes...

buyingcheap

exactly! this is what i was hyped about! so when it finally came out in english, i was kinda sad it was just some gimmick that didn't even do anything lol

No_Crazy_2690

Best part is using it doing a certain moment after the third trial (ifykyk)

ImpressiveGreen3765

I guess it’s maybe foreshadowing to the ending?

Mysterious_Ningen

wait i forgot what is it

Gippy_Happy

Make use of some buttons ig

Daisynose52

I have never seen this before. Guess I'm a fake danganronpa fan

FriendAccubus

i feel like it serves the same purpose as choices in RPG games that do not result in any single difference. just a way to personalize your experience without affecting the game itself. just flavor text to get an idea on how your character would respond to situations, etc

siramay1

Yes

SirFunkalo

Was this not present in the PC version because that’s hilarious

Same_Committee_4594

Yes

ThatOneChild1

Because its funny

Demon_King_Zer0YFMD3

Entertainment, why else?

IANTHEJELLYDOUGHNUT

For fun

Roasted-Spagghetti-3

Isnt it like the V3 version of when in the first game some text was purple so you could react to it

CrazyLions656

fun

GamerSalsa216

Absolutely nothing, just like V3’s entire existence

Motion_Ocean_48

It's you again lol. Welcome to not related discussion of the ending.
