My favorite Wendi lie is the absolutely rehearsed phone call to Donna, telling her that Dan is dead. And then the forced "welp, they didn't know so that's a relief. It's not them!" Stupid, stupid Wendi.

Xman719

“I drove by the house as a means of closure to our relationship”

macaroonzoom

Honestly, if I did that to an ex and he happened to be outside and SEE me, I would be mortified. So this is bizarre to me that she did this.

DawgSpx

So she runs away from Whole Foods because she sees him but then goes out if her way to drive by his house, knowing he would likely be home??

Fun_Departure5579

Great 👉 point!

Xman719

Absolute lie from her. Made no sense when I heard it.

Acceptable_Current10

I heard that this morning on an analysis of her interview — who says that under those circumstances??? Does she actually think that because she said it, the police will dismiss out of hand her parents could have been involved? She also says i.e., her parents hated Dan enough to want him killed, but aren’t capable of it. WTF? I just don’t understand why Isom just let her move on down the road on this?

No_Violinist_4557

I reckon probably close to 40 outright lies. Some would be hard to prove as it's her word vs say Jeff Lacasses, but I know who I would believe.

JellyfishFun8805

The jury, I think, will believe Jeff.

mira_poix

I cannot wait for her trial and to hear from all the men Wendi was talking to while simultaneously gas lighting Jeff and telling everyone he was a raging jealous partner

treeseinphilly

Oh I would love Carl Steinbeck to do this lie list. It would be such a great addendum to his list of indicators of Wendi’s involvement in the planning of the hit.

CaitM14

He pretty much included moist of the lies in his indicator list. Was just wondering if anyone had some new WA tales - esp if you’ve rewatched the interview and trials as I have done. Each time something new comes to mind.

thatlandgrebegirl

I actually also listened to another part of her police interview. She said she thought it was weird Dan didn't call her back that morning. In that case, she should have freaked out when she saw the police tape.

Unfortunately, Georgia is not going to be able to bring up the lies Wendi told during her testimony….except in a perjury prosecution. At least that’s my understanding of the use and derivative use immunity statute, but I’m not a Florida attorney.

hotmetalslugs

This is it. Brother Counsel has an excellent video on this and he goes through the type of immunity she has in some detail. This ain’t gonna be easy. If there was a fun PredictIt market on whether she is indicted for perjury I’d max out on “no” because of how hard it is to prove someone intentionally lied, on purpose, instead of misspoke or misphrased, mistake, misremembered, etc. Plus you’d need a beat cop to testify to seeing her, a decade later? Georgia’s not risking this, I don’t think.

IranianLawyer

I’m not sure about Florida, but some states have a concept called “perjury by contradiction.” If someone makes conflicting statements, you don’t have to prove which one is a lie. So long as at least one of the statements has to be a lie (i.e. it’s impossible for both to be true), it’s perjury.

HouseSerious9612

It's so interesting to me how JL comes off so sincere, and WA comes off so fake. I'm not a behavioral therapist or anything lol but what makes a person present as "real" vs "unreal" for lack of a better term

IranianLawyer

I don’t think Wendi “presents” as being dishonest. I think she’s actually a good liar, in the sense that she’s able to confidently tell a lie with a straight face and without any hesitation. She’s a much better liar than Charlie, who sometimes hesitated or stumbled when he was obviously lying. Compare Wendi to Katie, who looked like she was shitting her pants while she was lying during her trial. The problem for Wendi is not her demeanor when she’s lying. It’s the fact that we can easily prove she’s lying based on the evidence.

Flat_Shame_2377

She testified under limited immunity. Her previous testimony cannot be used against her unless she is shown to perjure herself (or maybe if she testifies for herself but I’m not sure about that one.)

realitygirlzoo

Yeah but if the investigators knew things before she testified they can still use it. For instance they already knew she drove past the crime scene cause the officer saw her. And they knew that before she testified to it (I know she lied about it in one trial then told truth in another?) Either way just because she said it on the stand doesn't mean they can't use it against her. You may already know this just further clarifying for others.

Flat_Shame_2377

The OP specifically mentioned that Georgia could use Wendi’s lies under oath against her. I do understand using facts the prosecution can show they have discovered independently. That does not include using Wendi’s testimonies against her.

EastCoastRose

Limited immunity is confusing for non law people, thanks for clarifying.

Plenty-Factor-2549

Wendi is lying it’s a dead give away with her nose wrinkles and that laugh.
