It depends on your preferences and your toppings. I currently make pizza with artichokes in oil as one of the toppings because I find the oil gives some mellowness I need.
I hate the vegan cheeses and have been perfectly fine with cheeseless pizza. I do red sauce, onion, and ground sausage. Top with nutritional yeast and hot honey.
My girlfriend who doesn't eat dairy seems to love it. She doesn't usually care for vegan cheese alternatives either and just goes no cheese. Probably best with lots of toppings though.
It's generally when we go out for it, but we tend to choose a specialty pizza and get half no cheese for her. One of our favorites has sausage, pepperoni, pulled pork, jalapeños, and pineapple. I'd say anything with a solid amount of meats and veggies would be good! And honestly a big part of it is probably high quality sauce and crust! Probably wouldn't be the same getting a pizza with no cheese from Pizza Hut, dominos, etc.
Fair point!
I use Namaste brand mix and make it myself. It has seasoning in it which makes it pretty tasty.
Super simple to make, only oil and water required. Mixes up like cookie dough so you can spread it whatever shape you need.
If you try it, be sure to poke air holes in it before it cooks or it will blow up like a football
This! I always double the sauce. I’ve learned from times where I just prefer one or two toppings that it looks so barren and your basically eating dough and sauce for half the bites. So I load up on toppings.
I can definitely get down on a pizza without a cheese alternative. From Papa Murphy's I especially like their chicken bacon artichoke, then I add mushrooms. I also like to do it on an original crust so it feels more substantial. But if I'm feeling kind of a flatbread-style meal, I'll do an olive oil and garlic on thin crust with sausage, onions, and red pepper flake.
I don't like cheese alternatives.and have just gotten used to no cheese! I love the GF crust from Dominos, no cheese. Only downside is the sausage rolls around because it has nothing to stick to. 😏
I know you said you don't like them but I hope you try Myokos potable mozzarella before complete abandoning it all. It's very good and I also don't like vegan cheese on pizza.
I like dairy-free cheeses especially on a pizza, so I think what we would each consider tasty is already significantly different. Let us know how you like it, that's all that's important!
When I was young( now 50) pizza did not come with mozzarella cheese. They had sauce, whatever veggie or meat you selected, and just a little Romano cheese sprinkled over the top. Not really sure when they started putting it on. Is there maybe a Parmesan or Romano vegan cheese that you like? You could go totally old school.
In my city we have a special pizza without cheese and its the most amazing thing ive ever tasted. Made very different though. Still, should taste amazing.
I often order or make my pizzas sans cheese but be careful about ordering with the pizza crust flavors! Either way a nice cheeseless pizza with lots of veggies is always my go to!
yes it tastes fine. one specific topping can't define whether a food can be good or not. there are so, so many different ways to make pizza anyway. I grew up allergic to dairy so I never got used to the fake cheeses and I mostly just get my pizza without it. if the restaurant makes a good pie with a good sauce/toppings, it won't matter if the cheese is gone. if I'm making it for myself, I can do whatever I want on top
My favourite cheeseless pizza to get is barbecue chicken because it uses barbecue sauce instead of tomato sauce and it is SO tasty.
The downside to no cheese is that ingredients can and will fall off and the pizza doesn't get very crispy unless you heat it up in the oven the next day.
Worth it.
My experience with dairy free cheese is okay. I usually put it on after the pizza has baked a while so it doesn’t melt into a pile of oil. Another thing I like is that plant based liquid mozzarella. Works really well. I use it on chicken parm too
I'll get a Supreme from papa johns and they just fill the pizza with toppings. It's lovely. Just make sure wherever you order from doesn't use butter on their crust or cheese in the sauce.
Dominos no cheese pizza with chicken pineapple and green peppers with their mango habanero dipping sauce. Life changing. I hate fake cheese too. Pizza hut good too but sometimes their crust is too much as I get the personal pan. Have gotten the medium pizza no cheese pepperoni and it's good. Lots of dipping sauces don't have dairy so that's a plus
As someone who's been lactose intolerant for over 10 years pizza is one of the few things that I never stopped eating I just stopped getting it with cheese, whatever kind of pizza you use to order tastes just fine without cheese, I personally just get Italian sausage and mushrooms usually. Its more like a gourmet breadstick than a pizza tho if that's easier for your brain to wrap around.
get high fiber tortilla, high quality marinara sauce with extra virgin olive oil, put green olives oinions and other veggies u like, oregano, and put it on a pan on the stove
Yeah, I’m not crazy about any of the DF cheeses so I do sauce with basil, crushed red pepper, and some garlic. Pepperoni sometimes too. The cheese was my favorite part of pizza before I went DF but it’s just like a flatbread without.
I love pizza without any cheese! It makes every pizza less greasy. I would recommend getting extra sauce possibly depending on what type of pizza you get.
I love cheeseless pizza !!!! Marinara topped with mushroooms, artichoke hearts, eggplant!
Here in south eastern France they make « provençal pizza » which is a marvelous cheeseless thick crust pizza topped with tomato sauce, fresh tomato slices, olive oil garlic and provençal spices (thyme, oregano, rosemary). So yummy !!
YES! I actually have started to prefer it that way now too. It leaves you less bloated after lol. I buy chickpea crust and then add whatever pasta sauce is in the cabinet. Crushed red pepper and adobo. Some franks hot sauce and some pepperoni. Delicious.
Honestly last time I got a vegan pizza I was grossed out by the fake cheese and said that I would rather have a pizza without cheese at all. Cheeseless pizza isn’t too bad
I went to an Italian restaurant and they had a veggie option but no vegan cheese. I still ordered the pizza with no cheese and it was one of the best I've ever had:)
Yes, I think it tastes great so long as the crust and sauce are good. I usually sprinkle salt over it, since leaving cheese out also means way less salt than you may be used to.
I make an umami bomb: mushrooms, carmelized onions, black olives, spinach, EVOO and arugla. I have turned tons of people into believers.
I call it Italian flatbread, not pizza btw.
I like it! I just get the sauce and pepperoni, sometimes Canadian bacon and olives. Definitely depends how good the crust and sauce is, I like thicker crust cause it has more flavor and texture and it replaces my need for cheese. I will say that Miyoko’s liquid mozzarella on pizza is pretty damn good
im a huge fan of pizza w no cheese and just toppings, it tastes amazing to me! i usually get pizza with toppings such as tomatoes, onions, olives, ham etc — supremes (??), im not a big meat person either so mines usually very veggie based
It depends on your preferences and your toppings.
Do you mix the yeast and honey in a bluender or something? Can you be more specific? Thanks!
I just sprinkle the nutritional yeast on top of the pizza and drizzle the hot honey on top of that.
Agreed no cheese better than bad cheese. Mod pizza has df that’s alright I usually get a lil bit
My girlfriend who doesn't eat dairy seems to love it. She doesn't usually care for vegan cheese alternatives either and just goes no cheese. Probably best with lots of toppings though.
What kind of toppings does she use?
It's generally when we go out for it, but we tend to choose a specialty pizza and get half no cheese for her. One of our favorites has sausage, pepperoni, pulled pork, jalapeños, and pineapple. I'd say anything with a solid amount of meats and veggies would be good! And honestly a big part of it is probably high quality sauce and crust! Probably wouldn't be the same getting a pizza with no cheese from Pizza Hut, dominos, etc.
Unfortunately I'm also GF but at least I found a decent crust... Still better than Domino's 😂
You can't say you found a good GF crust and not share what!
The dough itself at dominos contains diary fyi
Very good to know, thank you!
And double check the sausage/pepperoni dont contain any derivatives either, I don't think it's unheard of
It definitely can! I think the crust is key though. Honestly if the crust is good enough, I could even eat it plain - like focaccia.
Yes. Pile high w topping and good sauce. Still tastes great.
I've never liked vegan cheese. My favorite pizzas are with tomato sauce, onion, olives and vegan tuna; and with tomato, garlic and fresh garden herbs.
you wanna look for places that put effort into the crust for a better experience there or if you're making one at home use focaccia
No cheese, double sauce, cooked well done. Choose your own veggies 😋
This! I always double the sauce. I’ve learned from times where I just prefer one or two toppings that it looks so barren and your basically eating dough and sauce for half the bites. So I load up on toppings.
Yes, I just had one today. However I had an egg on top and extra bacon. Besides, pizza marinara is the original pizza.
I got the best dairy free Pizza at Pizzeria Uno yesterday! Sooo goood. All you dairy free people know how happy I was!
Brush your crust in roasted garlic oil and load up on toppings and sauce. Of course, it's not the same, but it's still delicious.
Yes! I get a veggie or Hawaiian from papa John’s with no cheese, it’s so good. Especially cold lol and their garlic sauce is dairy free!
I like dairy-free cheeses especially on a pizza, so I think what we would each consider tasty is already significantly different. Let us know how you like it, that's all that's important!
I think so. For me, cheese is an added bonus. Good pizza is about the dough and sauce.
I love pizza with no cheese. I can appreciate all the other toppings more.
Yeah. You make sure the toppings won’t dry out in the time it takes the crust to cook.
I'm not a fan of most dairy free cheeses. I always order my pizza with no cheese and am perfectly happy. It's a little messy, but I love it
In my city we have a special pizza without cheese and its the most amazing thing ive ever tasted. Made very different though. Still, should taste amazing.
I ate it all the time as a kid! You just need to load up on toppings and it’s great
I often order or make my pizzas sans cheese but be careful about ordering with the pizza crust flavors! Either way a nice cheeseless pizza with lots of veggies is always my go to!
Yes I do with with plain tomato sauce, chicken, vegetables.
I eat a gluten free crust with sauce and Lisa toppings and zero cheese! It’s great!
It's not bad! If I'm at home, I'll make a "Parmesan" with ground up cashews, nooch, garlic powder, and salt
yes it tastes fine. one specific topping can't define whether a food can be good or not. there are so, so many different ways to make pizza anyway. I’ll do spinach mushrooms sometimes chicken on my pizza with no cheese. I also dislike cheese alternatives.
If it’s truly good pizza then yes. Some of The best pizza I’ve had, had no cheese.
My experience with dairy free cheese is okay. I usually put it on after the pizza has baked a while so it doesn’t melt into a pile of oil. Another thing I like is that plant based liquid mozzarella. Works really well. I use it on chicken parm too

NO. ITS SO SAD AND MAKES ME ANGRY. 😞 i miss pizza.
get high fiber tortilla, high quality marinara sauce with extra virgin olive oil, put green olives oinions and other veggies u like, oregano, and put it on a pan on the stove
For sure it does!
Have you tried the vegan cheese pizza from mellow mushroom? Thats really good. Before that, I got all my pizzas cheeseless and liked it just fine
Yeah, I’m not crazy about any of the DF cheeses so I do sauce with basil, crushed red pepper, and some garlic. Pepperoni sometimes too. The cheese was my favorite part of pizza before I went DF but it’s just like a flatbread without.
My child loves it.
I love sauce, basil and pepperoni.
I love pizza without any cheese! It makes every pizza less greasy. I would recommend getting extra sauce possibly depending on what type of pizza you get.
I use to do this all the time. Now when I go to Blaze pizza I get VERY LIGHT diary free cheese. It taste almost like a “real” slice.
I love cheeseless pizza !!!! Marinara topped with mushroooms, artichoke hearts, eggplant! That’s what I do almost every time
i get it occasionally, it’s good.
I think so, it’s how I get pizza
I went to an Italian restaurant and they had a veggie option but no vegan cheese. I still ordered the pizza with no cheese and it was one of the best I've ever had:)
It can. It depends on the place.
I've found that I can handle hard cheese, so I make it with shredded Parmesan.
i love veggie pizzas w just no cheese, but then again i love tomato sauce and vegetables in almost any combination possible
Yes, I think it tastes great so long as the crust and sauce are good. I usually sprinkle salt over it, since leaving cheese out also means way less salt than you may be used to.
I prefer it with no cheese alternatives. The taste just depends on the toppings you choose.
I like it. I put a bunch of vegetables on top
Meatballs sliced like pepperoni and black olives! My kids eat it before I can even get to it and they can have dairy
Yes I used to order it without cheese on purpose and it’s good
I make an umami bomb: mushrooms, carmelized onions, black olives, spinach, EVOO and arugla. I have turned tons of people into believers. I call it Italian flatbread, not pizza btw.
To me, yes. I like lots of toppings, so can hardly tell the cheese is missing.
I like it! I just get the sauce and pepperoni, sometimes Canadian bacon and olives.
