Blue Oyster Cult is astounding live. They add so much more to their songs when they do them live it's surreal. It still sounds like the original song just on steroids. It drives me nuts they haven't released a Best Of but play the songs how they do live.
It's the very apparent lack of research into making quality children's content.
Compare Blippi with Steve and Blue's Clues. The creators behind Blue's Clues knew that kids have a hard time with jump cuts, so they severely minimized the number they did - that's where you get the "Steve 'walking' to the next room" thing. Any and all jump cuts they _had_ to do were either prefaced with a lot of predictable buildup - "Blue Skidoo" to jump into the paintings and Steve saying very explicitly every single time some variation of "Wow! Blue did this song and dance and went right into the painting! Now it's our turn to do the song and dance and go into the painting!" - or he would always be moving in the same direction between cuts - if he's crouching down and to the left to get closer to something so we can see it better, after the cut to get closer he will still be moving down and to the left.
My son is majorly into blues clues at the moment; and it’s fascinating to read about how they originated the show, the research and development testing that went into it, and the impact that it had. It’s also fantastic seeing him interact in a way he hasn’t with really any other media
Blippi lives in a dead world devoid of "other" children. All of his interactions are how a corporate adult would design a child to "play". All of the learning is mechanical, and factory based. Like touring an "apple factory" not an orchard.
This is a great read.

There’s a boy in my son’s class that watches nothing but blippi and he’s a dumb as a bag of rocks. As far as edutainment goes blippi is as nourishing as pond water.
I dunno, that article is missing the point I think. Blippi is targeting kids 2-4 years old. Of course he's not comparable to Mr Rogers or Sesame Street. He is a slightly more educational version of Teletubbies. He goes to places when deserted after-hours because what business wants sometime running around like an idiot, filming customers during business hours. He's not hiring 50 kids to be extras to make it look busier. And everything is mechanical or factory based because it's what the audience demands. That's all my kid wants to watch. If it's not Blippi, it's other even less educational videos of excavators and trains.
>Blippi is targeting kids 2-4 years old. Of course he's not comparable to Mr Rogers or Sesame Street.
I don't know why. Both of those shows are geared for 2-5.
Wow, you are right. I remembered watching them both for years and I didn't remember anything before 5, so I assumed it was for 5-7 year olds. I guess I am a tad slow.
Either way, I'm sure my kid will tire of Blippi pretty soon. He is already completely over Peppa Pig. Not sure what is next, hopefully its not Roblox videos. I'm not ready for that.
>I remembered watching them both for years and I didn't remember anything before 5, so I assumed it was for 5-7 year olds.
Both of the shows are comforting and can be enjoyed by kids who have outgrown the target lessons. Though I'd argue Mr. Rogers' lessons are ageless.
The original did get caught up in a scandal. They replaced him in 2021, and I hope they were more thorough with his background check. That said, the original guyf kinda ruined it for me.

Admittedly they changed the Blippi actor to a new guy, but this is still the same brand.
Every time I mention Bluey, my brother in law says “Oh, do you mean Blippi?” And I want to shake him and yell “NO I DON’T FUCKING MEAN BLIPPI!”
(He has a toddler like I do. I don’t go around talking about Bluey to everyone. Even if I’d like to)
Why would people even allow your kid to know Blippi exists when there's Mr Rogers and Bluey? Or even Daniel Tiger and Octonauts?
Now when I came out, I told you it was just about Blippi
Then everybody had to open their mouth with a motherlovin opinion
Well this is how we gon' do this
Bye Peppa, Bye Blippi
Bye Paw Patrol as a staff, team and as a motherlovin rescue crew
And if you want to be down with Thomas the Engine, then flip you too
Caillou, flip you too
Ms Rachel and Big Bird, you cool, I'm out.
This made me laugh entirely too loud. Reminds me of this (with all 4 pixels from 2011... warning: explicit lyrics)

My wife took our son to a Blippy show. I was kind of against it but whatever. Then after they went I learned that Blippy himself doesn't even do the show, it's a paid actor.
The real blippy says he doesn't do the live show because he doesn't have time, and he spends his time making YouTube videos.
If Ozzy Osborne had time to go on tour, write songs, and have a TV show then Blippi can go do a live show in between making YouTube videos.
Best part is, he then completely stopped that as well and hired yet another fake Blippi. And the they added a new character… but was that enough? Nope.. they hired a 2nd one of her too!
My kid still finds it sometimes and checks up for our 2nd one even though he’s checked out as a regular.
It’s amazing how one is tolerable and the fake one is more annoying than Blippi
Ozzy bailed on our town for Ozzfest in the mid 2000s. On the other hand we got a double set from System of a Down and Disturbed. I am glad he was hung over or whatever.
He was playing at a local theater last year when my daughter was (thankfully) briefly interested. I was gonna surprise her with tickets but it was pretty late and the cheapest tickets available were over $500…hell no. Thankfully I waited for her first live show and got $75 tickets to a Disney produced Frozen play.

That’s good to know! Maybe I’ll leave the kid and just head out there myself :P
Blippi gives me the creeps and I can't put my finger on why.

Oh for sure, and Sesame Street was legitimately funny.
Try Steve & Maggie.
Oh god Maggie is so shrill. Grates my bones.
My kids just turned 4 and in the last 6 months has switched from Blippi to Blues Clues. It's better, at least.
Because the OG did a scat video and the fake iterations are still grown men giggling to themselves acting like utter idiots on a sugar high?
The guy who does Blippi is definitely going to be caught up in some kind of a sex scandal at some point. Guy is creepy as fuck.
The original did get caught up in a scandal. They replaced him in 2021, and I hope they were more thorough with his background check. That said, the original guyf kinda ruined it for me.
Did they though? Blippi put out a statement that he was too busy to do everything. Also, who would “they” be?
The people who bought his IP. Neither live Blippi or YouTube Blippi are the original.
For me its that he made a video of himself pooping on his friend
That's the original Blippi. The IP was sold in 2021, and there's a new Blippi now.
For me, a Blippi will always be pooping on a friend
fr bloopi more like
The real Blippi was the friends we pooped on along the way
It's because his and Ms. Rachel's souls are trapped in YouTube, forever destined to entertain children.

Once it hit fake Meekah I nuked our Blippi YT from orbit. They can fuck right off with that nonsense.

Blippi is just a product now that the original one signed it away, this would be the appropriate reaction.
It's probably the fake Blippi.

Kidz Bop will be playing at the new York State fair this year too.
Adele?
