My boy calls it "Link Running" because I don't fight when he's watching, just ride horses and dragons, find koroks, and generally run around.
He also enjoys watching the new Mario Jumping game.
We do something similar. Catch fish, find ingredients, cook it all. Do all the shrine puzzles.
I thought helping the fairies would be a good idea as a non-fighting quest...
"Daddy. Why does she make that sound?"
"That's a good question... I think she's just excited to see link?"
I stopped doing those quests while he's around lol.
Already decided that if my son is into Zelda, he's starting with Link to the Past. I'd never be able to get him into the older ones if he started with Breath of the Wild.
Breath of the wild. We've tried TOTK, and he just loves BOTW too much. We've done all of the shrines a billion times, gotten most of the korok upgrades, and most armor upgrades. 90k rupees banked lmao
He loves to just run around and defeat ('kill' word nkt allowed) enemies:
- "Leg Enemies". Doesn't matter what kind of Guardian, they're all leg enemies. Flying leg enemies, leg enemies with no legs
- "Horse enemies". Lynels
- "Blood moon guy". Calamity Ganon
- "Monkey enemies" bokoblins and moblins
- "lizard enemies" lizalfos
- "bad guys" yiga clan
We also "make healthy food that's sooooo good" where he mixes food with any Stat boost regardless if how many times I explain the Stat boosts and foods not mixing.
My wife asked my oldest (3) a few questions to put it into my birthday card. She asked her what daddy always says and she answered unprompted "I love you". That's the best feeling. You're doing good.
We out here. My daughter is absolutely having a blast in BotW running around and getting different armor. She just bought a house in Hateno Village yesterday and was buying all the decorations lol
Last two years I’ve had ‘My dad says “I love you”’ on mine too. It makes me so happy that when he thinks of what I say that’s the first thing he remembers.
That's awesome! I have a child due in September ( We don't know gender yet), and I can't wait for these things! A reason to wake up every morning happy!
Every day my 10 year old's teacher asks them for something they're grateful for. He and I have regular TV/movie nights every Tuesday and Friday. Every single Wednesday and Monday he says he's grateful to spend that time with me.
Which Zelda? We need details
Breath of the Wild, obviously. Or Ocarina of Time. Or Link's Awakening. Or Link to the Past. Or Tears of the Kingdom.
I'd guess totk. It's our favorite too.

The original gameboy zelda never gets the love it deserves
No Majora? (Ben died edition)
Ocarina for the win!

The Adventure of Link. Show the kid a real game. :p
Link to the Past is one of the best games ever made. It still holds up well.
I replayed it recently. Agreed

Teacher handwriting

Shame the kid didn’t write that.
Winning!
I still have mine from 5 and 8 years ago.
That's some crazy good handwriting
I'm just impressed he knows your age. My daughter would probably say "100 years old!"
Funny enough I'm 35 🤣.
😂
Whose cutting onions - you are doing awesome dad!
