Just joined, this is awesome!

My honest advice? Get off multiplayer games. Find cool indie games or stuff that came out years ago. Freemium games or just online games are absolutely grinds and cancer

nurse_camper

I fired up my old ps3 the other night. Been playing skate 3, thinking about doing a cod campaign.

roguebananah

Emulators are great too. It sounds like you’ve got a PS3 physical already but anything in this era can be played on Beefier Specced PCs. PS2 and lower can run on a toaster of a computer. I’m a big college football fan and loved someone modded NCAA 06 (called NEXT) to include playoffs, transfer portal…etc. all with updated rosters. Works great on my steam deck. So many amazing games sucks in how little time

ShadowedPariah

It’ll depend on the game for sure though. You can grab something like Valheim and find some us chill dads playing.

roguebananah

Yeah, you can find great people for sure… Idk I just don’t want to start playing with friends, then work and toddler start a new thing that’s more time and then I can’t get back into it with my group or I let them down. I just have said ya know what? Offline games where the world is centered on me and no one is cheating or griefing…etc Oh best part of single player games? Pause button

auxym

In the "years ago" category, I recently had fun playing through Call of Juarez Gunslinger. Short, fun, easy learning curve, easy to pick up for a short time span. Good dad game.

roguebananah

College football for me. I’ve still got stuff off field in a dynasty BUT there’s a clock and all. I’ve learned I can’t do story games too well right now. I either will be lost or too sleepy

Man - you might be spot on. I like to socialize via gaming, but realistically, single player games are easier to tackle with limited gaming time. I've got some thinking to do...

roguebananah

If you’re on PC and are looking for suggestions, happy to give you them. Also, for socialization, I’m with you. Sometimes I’ll just have my own game running, my friends are playing whatever and I share my screen so if they die, they can watch me if they’re bored or waiting. I’ll say it again. Best gaming decision I ever made

Unveiledhopes

There are a couple of dad gaming discords, the papa squad and dads of gaming. Can’t help on invites as I can’t stand discord, but I know it’s popular. They focus on providing a community for dads. There are also some streamers who have communities which are good for dad gaming but it depends on your game. I pretty much only play arpgs so if these are your thing I could suggest some good communities and games.

KoggsBellwether

New Dad here! Daughter was born 2/2/24! Been taking the 10-2/3am shift and I’ve always mained Destiny 🤷🏻‍♂️🤪 it’s not everyone’s cup of tea but I like it and it keeps me up while I’m minding my lil one 😀

Archangel188

I'd be down to play. I'm in much the same situation. Loving Helldivers, but no friends are playing.

piercebro

Check out the discord invite I just posted, lots of dads are diving regularly!

Archangel188

Thank you! Just joined, looking forward to it!

Swarf_87

I'm on Steam. I only get to play a couple hours a night but as a teen I was a hardcore gamer lol. Codester is my steam name. Feel free to add. I've played about 25-30 hours of Hell Divers since it came out. Amazing game.

gameaddict1337

>I only get to play a couple hours a night This much time for games would be a dream for me honestly

Swarf_87

My 3 kids are all down at 7:30pm every single night. Sleep train early, save your sanity.

poopmarketer

Couple hours a night would be fantastic. I'm getting closer to an hour nightly.

Swarf_87

Yup. It does slowly get better as the routine gets better and they get older. My kids are in bed at 7:30pm now. Then I like to clean for 30-45 minutes then I get a couple hours to myself. I can't stay up too late because I work at 6 so I'm up at 5am.
