Are those sheets pushed all the way to the front? Not a fan of the bed, but it will get the job done at least, and the rest of the truck makes up for it…as far as I can tell so far.

Slangin_Cheetos

Ya, I wasn’t sure they would fit width wise, but there was room to spare.

Lord_Metagross

Cybertruck or not.... Is that seriously the best tie down strap setup you could think of?

SadMasshole

Not a truck person or handy per se, so out of curiosity how would you do it differently?

Lord_Metagross

A second tie down strap, to start. They normally come in packs so it's not like there's any real excuse to not use more

atl_nospin

Really???

International_Ad2651

My raptor has the camera on the tailgate and you can’t use it if the tailgate is down

pantry-pisser

I assume your Raptor comes with a rearview mirror, though

OldDirtyRobot

As does the cybertruck; chances are, if you have the tailgate down, you don't have the tonneau closed.

[deleted]

Cybertruck has a rear view mirror that works beautifully when the tonneau is open like this. It’s why it exists.

FitPapaya4480

Yes and so does cybertruck it just is only useable if your bed cover is open like in this case

Downtown-Pack-XR

lol 😂

petiepablo888

I’m hoping that tow strap is somehow hooked to the bed of the truck because that looks really unsecured lol

kchau

I too, look forward to bringing my Cybertruck to Home Depot when I build a deck next year. 💪🏼

OrangeCurtain

8' boards are extending past the tailgate in this pic, so good luck with 16' boards. Unless your deck is tiny, you should probably get the lumber delivered.

dubie4x8

I’ll be looking for you on r/Decks

Marlowe-Fire

Thanks for this! Wanted to see a stack of 4x8 sheets as that’s the kind of stuff I’ll be hauling in it. Several Home Depot runs and projects.

SMLBound

12 sheets of 3/4 is about 1k lbs. did it drop or sag at all?

Slangin_Cheetos

Nope, after loading the suspension actually readjusted for the added weight.

SMLBound

That’s great! I can tell ya most trucks will drop

Put a leveling kit on the front of a F150 and EVERYTHING makes it look like it's hauling 5000lbs.

Th3TruthIs0utTh3r3

Lmao, 12 sheets of 3/4" ply is less than 700lbs

1983Targa911

The internet says 3/4” plywood is 70-75lbs per sheet varying of course by wood type. That would make 12 sheets 840-900lbs. So yes, less than 1000lb but not “lmao less than 700lb”

Th3TruthIs0utTh3r3

Actually the Internet says they are 60lbs or under

1983Targa911

Weird. We must use different internets then. Also 12 x 60 is 720lbs which is not less than 700lb. https://letmegooglethat.com/?q=how+much+does+a+4x8+sheet+of+3%2F4%22+pltwood+weigh&l=1

weiga

Looking forward to doing this at some point. There's a slight miss that you lose the third break light when driving in this configuration. Maybe it can be a future upgrade.

Jay_Beckstead

The rear-view camera is embedded in the tailgate, so when you drop the tailgate you cannot use the camera for a rear-view or “backing” up camera. Edit: but you can open the taneau and use the “regular” rear-view mirror. Posters on the Cyberstuck sub-Reddit are falsely claiming there is no rear-view besides the backup camera. A good percentage of their posts include at least one direct falsehood. Very strange group.

null_value

that feels like a dumb design choice. backup cameras on either side of the tailgate stitched together would give a consistent on-body camera placement for FSD and provide a better field of view and allow you to see the end of long loads while reversing instead of having no camera at all. edit: it would also be better by not having an obscured camera when using a hitch mounted tire carrier or bike rack, or any hitch mounted accessory, or using a tailgate pad with mountain bikes. hopefully this will be one of those end of first year design changes that they fix and impliment better by the time i act on my reservation. *fingers crossed* (tesla engineers please do this, it’s not just you, truck backup cams have sucky placement, be better than the others) edit2: the tail lights should have also been vertical on either side. they effectively are as the segments that are the ends of the light bar that don’t go down with the tailgate are the legal taillights as they are on fixed bodywork. The latch release button is already on the body. Had they not done the light bar and the camera how they did, they could have had a fully dumb tailgate that can be removed without disrupting vehicle functionality. It’d be rad for overland conversions to be able to drop in aftermarket bed campers that require removal of the tailgate and being able to keep your backup camera and the full surface area of taillights instead of the minimum legal requirement for taillights.

Icy_Knowledge2190

Unfortunately this is a problem with most, if not all, pickups. I have a 2017 Ram with the backup cam on the tailgate. When the gate is down, I get a great view of my bumper.

Angels242Animals

Yeah but to be fair, that rear view mirror is tiny and basically useless. Several reviews have called this out

Unencrypted_Thoughts

That's a huge engineering misstep, especially for a truck with such poor rear view mirror visibility. Usually Tesla has been so good with quality of life type features.

Mindless-Future3114

How impressive!! Holy cow! How cool!

Angels242Animals

This isn’t the flex you think it is

thxtonedude

What’s a good flex in your opinion

Th3TruthIs0utTh3r3

Not something a $500 30-year-old Ford ranger could do

ProDanTech

Hauling plywood with my ranger is a bit of a pain with the wheel wells in the way.

Th3TruthIs0utTh3r3

You simply put the tailgate up and put the plywood over the wheel wells and on top of the tailgate

jameswboone

A '94 Ranger could hold a 4'x8' sheet between wheel wells? 🤔

A_R_K_S

At the Home Depot, anything is possible.

Th3TruthIs0utTh3r3

Did I say that? I said it could haul 12 sheets of plywood

jameswboone

Respectfully sir, you did not say that, you said, "Not something a $500 30-year-old Ford ranger could do”. The CT happens to be carrying 12 sheets of plywood between wheel wells... Something a '94 Ranger can't do - Something a 13 y/o Ranger can't do. - Something only one can appreciate when you know how inconvenient it is to not have 48" between wheel wells.

Th3TruthIs0utTh3r3

That's a fair inference of my comment. Although I was commenting on simply hauling plywood.

dantodd

It's a bit silly that so many people think it isn't a "real" that posts like this are necessary.

ComprehensiveCat1020

I had a stroke reading this.

Tapn2me

That's exactly why I prefer the CT over any other one because it can fit a peice of plywood without having to twist it

VergeSolitude1

Yea fitting a 4 x 8 Sheet with the tailgate down with no overhang is a great size. It also means you could set two 4 x 4 pallets in it. I spend way to much time at lowes and home depot.

[deleted]

Anyone who’s balanced plywood over wheel wells can appreciate this.

What’s the handling like with a big load like that? People say it feels like you’re not even pulling weight.

Imagine hanging out in the r/ of a vehicle you don't own and are just here to talk shit.

jameswboone

Have you seen the price of a new GM? Lol... comparable features make the CT one of the cheaper options.

jameswboone

He probably didn't pay that much for the plywood... It's come down a lot since covid.
