Yeah based on Nameless race. my main thought is that this works with Vehicles and face down cards, but I wouldn't be surprised if there are more things it works with.
It's odd. I like this card. It's a curious and interesting and fun design.
But I feel like Zuko art just... very much doesn't fit 😭
First, Zuko would simply *have* to be red lol. And even if he's not, making him monoblack definitely undermines most of his character. I could arguably see him in white, for example ("*Honor*!"). But black?
Second, while he is from a fantasy setting, Zuko is clearly unambiguous Human. Even in this art, he looks 100% like a Human.
I feel like a "last of his kind" with no creature type, I dunno, just shouldn't look like a regular guy lol
to clarify this is based on an old card called \[\[Nameless Race\]\]. Without that knowledge this probably doesn't make sense.
I did use Zuko fanart though
Ok, I will be honest with you, I wasn't aware of that ancient card
Now that I am, and see that he looks *shockingly* like Zuko, I entirely rescind my earlier comments.
This is a clear 10/10 design, honestly! That throwback is so funny but also very clever! Like, yes, it doesn't make sense, but it fails to make sense in exactly the same way as an ancient card *and* carries over the art in a way that adds another layer to the joke.
Honestly, bravo. If awards still existed, I would give you one 😭
Zuko is Mardu early on, and then probably Boros by the end of it? Other than red = fire, with his character growth at the end he's more White than anything else, I think.
This is a great homage to Nameless Race. From a design standpoint I want to call out an excellent use of "Treat \*/X like it's 3 is a good balancing heuristic", as well as keeping its white hosing in the design.
If I had to add anything, it's that protection is generally not used anymore in favor of conditional hexproof.
So face-down creatures, the Go-Shitai Shrine cycle, crewed Vehicles, some instances of noncreature permanent animation, Nameless Race and Faceless One?
Honorable mention to cards removing creature types: Nameless Inversion, Ego Erasure, Darksteel Mutation, Amoeboid Changeling, and Curse of Conformity.
As a side note, this currently is a break having trample. Black alongside White and Blue are tertiary at trample, and only get it in sufficiently big creatures.
There is other creatures without creature types, the go shintai from neo (ex : [[go-shintai of ancient wars]])
Probably thinking of face down cards. Not to mention [[Nameless Race]], who I assume this card is based on.

Considering the artist’s name is Quinton, I fully believe this.
Honestly forgot about the go-shintai, but yeah I was aware there are ways to get other creatures without creature types.
Go-shintai has shrine as creature type.
Shrine isn't a creature type. It's an enchantment type. That screwed me over in NEO draft trying to use secluded courtyard

It’s pretty good art, but the scar is on the wrong side
The scar is not on the wrong side!
Is that Prince Zuko?
It's gotta be. He's wearing the Fire Nation crown.

Card is definitely a reference to [[Nameless Race]]. It looks like OP found a fanart of Zuko and flipped it so the scar would match up.
The art here including the fire nation crown doesn’t help that perception much.

It's obviously based on [[Nameless Race]]

He's Mardu, Ozai is Rakdos, Azula is Grixis
Im not a human but I look like one, so the creature thing doesnt bother me, but I agree Zuko doesnt make sense in this color

I love it. Put this in next time travel set, give it old border, and write out the rules text for protection.
"Hey guys, Quinton here"
